Top Ten Locations that Could Be Used for a Future Pokemon Setting

If you ever noticed that the Pokemon games always take place in locations that are modeled after real-world locations, you can probably understand what this list is about. We've already seen...

The islands of Japan (Gens 1-4)
New York City (Gen-5)
France (Gen-6)
Hawaii (Gen-7)
UK (Gen-8)

What else is there? This may happen in Gen-9, or it may not? But we're also not thinking about location names either, just real-world locations that Game Freak may or may not use as their next inspiration or so.

The Top Ten
1 Australia Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. With an area of 7,617,930 square kilometres (2,941,300 sq mi), Australia is the largest country by area in Oceania and the world's sixth-largest country. Australia is the oldest, flattest, and driest inhabited continent, with the least fertile soils. It is a megadiverse country, and its size gives it a wide variety of landscapes and climates, with deserts in the centre, tropical rainforests in the north-east, and mountain ranges in the south-east.

What could be the odds? Most of the middle is desert, but the other parts of Australia can be populated well.

2 Indonesia Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, is a country in Southeast Asia. Ruled by the Dutch for over 300 years and Japan for 3 years and 6 months, the country gained independence in 1945, or exactly in 17th August 1945. Jakarta is the capital city, located in the island of Java. Major languages include Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian), Javanese, Sundanese and Minangkabau. Islam is the largest religion, being over 80% of the entire population. Indonesia is an archipelago, consisting of around 17,000 islands distributed along the marine country. Known for agricultural mountain-paddy fields, this thought is a common stereotype. Indonesia also hosts the largest Muslim population in the world. ...read more.

There's already been island hopping with the Sevii islands and Alola, the possibility of another one of these would work out pretty well.

3 Scandinavia

Someplace in Scandinavia would be an interesting setting for a Pokemon game, considering there were already two European locations already done.

4 Greece/Turkey/East Mediterranean

If Game Freak ever wanted to try something more with some sort of legend, what better inspiration than Greece or the area around the Aegean Sea?

5 Italy Italy (Italian: Repubblica Italiana) is a sovereign state and unitary parliamentary republic in south-central Europe.

Italy covers an area of 301,338 km². With almost 62 million inhabitants, it is the third most populous EU member state. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, San Marino, and Vatican City. The... read more

This ought to be fun, and it may include the Balkans to the east or Iberia to the west for some extra flair.

With Spain coming, they may be too similar

6 Greater Antilles

Cuba, Hispaniola, the Bahamas, and maybe some bits and pieces of Florida. Would be interesting for a pirate-theme if possible too.

7 Southern Africa

Lush jungles, some deserts, I can even picture Madagascar getting factored in here somehow.

8 Iberia

This peninsula like Italy and Greece would be quite fun, and you could probably fit some parts of Morocco too.

9 Eastern Brazil

For something more of a carnival setting, with tons of jungle life, this ought to be a fun one.

10 Southwestern India
