Top 10 Worst The Simpsons Characters

The Top Ten
  1. Lisa Simpson

Lisa Marie Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons. She's the middle child and the most intelligent member of the Simpson family. Lisa is known for her academic excellence, strong moral convictions, and love for jazz music.

Lisa's personality when she discovered a website of Springfield in 50 years made no sense. Lisa, usually a smart kid, believed a website that was either lying or severely misguided, with things that go against logic.

Water is gone, people drink soap, there is a world war over the last drop of oil, the last available parking space is filled forever, and, even more ridiculously, the last polar bear hangs itself in prison. What happened to smart Lisa?

What used to be one of the most likeable characters has slowly evolved, season by season, into the most hated. Newer seasons involve Lisa taking the moral high ground on nearly every topic, and criticising everyone that doesn't share her view.

In older seasons, Lisa wasn't the person to make funny remarks, but she certainly knew how to make a scene its funniest. Her insight concluded episodes in the best possible way and had a huge impact on the now-lost heart-warming scenes. Her performances left you in tears.

Now, Lisa is a boring character, with most episodes centred on her, and sometimes even whole episodes dedicated to her on boring issues. Although Lisa is a family member of the Simpsons, she isn't the centre of the family, and because of this focus she has turned into the character that nobody likes.

  2. Marge Simpson

Marjorie Jacqueline "Marge" Simpson is a fictional character in the American animated sitcom The Simpsons. She is the wife of Homer Simpson and the mother of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Marge is known for her towering blue hair and serves as the moral center of the family.

As an atheist, I really hate when Marge forces her narrow-minded, annoying religious views on her family.

When Homer is sleeping, she still takes it upon herself to force Homer to get up for church, even when it's too cold outside. "It's church, you have to go." And then, when Homer rips his pants, she groans when Homer opts to stay home, even though it is really cold outside and the church's furnace isn't working.

Then she refuses to accept Homer's arguments for giving up church, like "what's the point of going to some building every Sunday," and prays for God to show Homer "the error of his ways," when God tells Homer that he has a point.

Then, when Bart asks Marge why they have to go to church when Homer gets to stay home, she just dodges the question and claims that "she has a responsibility to raise the kids right, and that unless Homer changes his ways, she'll have to tell them that he's wicked." She tells Homer that he can't win if she has to choose between her God and him, even though she already proved her disloyalty to him over Flanders and the water department. Homer didn't tell her, "You let me stay at home or I'll leave you," but she still is so narrow-minded and unreasonable.

And then, in another episode, she again forces her family to get up early for church, and everyone but her can't stay awake during Lovejoy's boring sermon. When Bart is falling asleep, she still hits him with her elbow and gets pretty annoyed when her whole family is sleeping. Why are you dragging them to church in the first place, then? And then she falls asleep too. Hypocrite!... read more

  3. Patty Bouvier

It was between Patty and Terri/Carrie. The sad thing is that I actually like Selma as a character. She wants to better herself and be happy. Patty, on the other hand, knows how cold-hearted she is, has accepted it, and does nothing to change it. She might be funnier than Terri/Carrie, but they never have more than like a 10-second role.

Also, Lisa doesn't deserve this much hate. Many of the best, more dramatic Simpsons episodes have revolved around her. Admittedly, they did take her reputation as the voice-of-reason character and use it to be very preachy in later seasons, but she had a lot of good moments.

Also, I still think The Simpsons is still a good show. It's just the bar was set so high that even an 8/10 show looks like crap next to early Simpsons.

  4. Helen Lovejoy

The most insufferable character in the entire show. She's every Christian evangelical stereotype you can think of, and then some. She also whines about nothingburger problems and exaggerates them to sound worse than they are. At least Selma has some personality outside of mocking Homer. Mr. Burns is at least funny, but Helen is painfully unfunny and annoying. Every time she's on screen, I'm cringing. Edna Krabappel is more entertaining than her, hands down.

She's depressing. She's just shallow and evil in a way that never makes me laugh. She's cunning and uses religion and laws as an excuse when they work to her advantage, or when she wishes bad for the Simpsons, for example. She's the kind of person who judges LGBT families because "someone please think about the children!"

Helen is also demanding of perfect behaviour from others while being so horrible herself. That's the breaking point for me. She's the most judgemental character there is. Mr. Burns is also evil, but not shallow, which makes him interesting, funny, versatile, and one of the best characters.

  5. Luann Van Houten

She is an awful wife and a neglectful mother. Kirk was a bit hard on her in the episode where they divorced, but I think it was because she was just an awful mom. Milhouse should live with Kirk in his apartment.

She is the reason I stopped watching after season 8, which was not so coincidentally when she got divorced and became downright insufferable. Why couldn't Milhouse divorce her, too?

Their whole family is terrible, but she is by far the worst. She is nothing more than a manipulative woman and a horrible wife and mother who is the sole ruin of her family.

  6. Martin Prince

Where do I start? First of all, he only cares about his stupid grades. Second of all, he's a hypocrite and he doesn't care about anyone (not even my favourite character, Bart). Third of all, he's just an ignorant idiot and his voice is absolutely UNBEARABLE! Fourth of all, he's just there to be your average, boring background character. Fifth of all, he's very annoying.

Martin is awful. He's cheaply written as a character, his voice stinks, he's really ugly, and he looks like someone the Wolverine would eat (and that's a good character if you ask me). Bart, if you're looking for someone to prank, Martin is one of those people.

If I were his dad, then I'd send him to military school. If I were one of his friends, then I'd kick him right in the balls. Martin is one of those people that I just despise, and if he's gonna end up in another Simpsons episode, I'd tell Matt Groening to kill him off. Yes, he's that bad.

  7. Artie Ziff

This guy always makes me angry.

But a few days ago I watched the episode where Artie spent the weekend with Marge. Homer saw them while Artie forced Marge to kiss him, and Homer worked in West Springfield. That's it. All I'm gonna say is, worst character ever.

This guy should be number 1. He is an annoying, creepy jerk who ruins everything. He is not even a big part of the show. He should be killed off.

Creepiest Simpsons character ever! Every time I see him, I always expect the worst with regards to Marge. Also, I want to punch him.

  8. Sherri and Terri

Out of the Springfield Elementary kids, they're at the top of being the worst. They are always acting like they are all that and hating everybody for no reason. Even though Lisa has a big butt, at least she doesn't have the face of a monkey.

Brats. Brats to the core. They only liked Lisa because she had a pool in one episode. Typical spoiled brat cliche!

The 2nd (Terri) and 10th (Sherri) worst characters, in my humble opinion.

  9. Montgomery Burns

Charles Montgomery Plantagenet Schicklgruber "Monty" Burns, more commonly known as Charles Montgomery Burns or simply Mr. Burns, is a recurring character in the animated television series The Simpsons. He is the wealthy and power-hungry owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. The character was... read more

Please remember his stupidity in giving a high-paying executive vice president job to a heroic dog. Frank Grimes was supposed to be the executive vice president, not work in Sector 7G in a lower-paying job.

He's just cruel. In one episode, just because Lisa had her own paper, he tried to knock her off the road, and she was in a car with Bart, Milhouse, and Homer. That would be 4 murders, and he wouldn't even care. My line to describe him is: He's so old he doesn't need a heart, just as well because he never had one anyway.

  10. Baby Gerald

You never even find out why Maggie is enemies with him. Why?! He has no other purpose except that, and that doesn't even happen often, only in the intro!

A character based around one joke. He doesn't like Maggie. They keep shoehorning him into episodes in the hopes he will catch on.

Oh yeah, that baby who is never in the show, ever. Anyway, why is Ned, Marge, and Lisa on this list? They are all awesome.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Ashley Grant

She judged and told everyone when Homer took the gummy off her pants.

The episode with her in it was made way before its topic was relevant.

Yo, Quagmire, I got a girl for ya.

  13. ?

    Elizabeth Hoover

This is nothing but dead-white-male bashing from a P.C. thug. It's women like you who keep the rest of us from landing a husband.

Although I hate the SJW known as "Lisa," she prevents kids from learning because she's a lazy slob.

  14. The Contenders
  15. Selma Bouvier

Better than Patty, but still rude to Homer.

She never shaves her leg. That's gross.

  16. Blue-Haired Lawyer

The guy is a straight-up jackass who doesn't seem to have anything better to do than to either be Mr. Burns' go-to lawyer or just show up and tell everyone about copyrighted songs and material that nobody ever gives a damn about. Somebody please put a bullet in this guy.

The worst stereotype of a lawyer I have ever seen. Hopefully a real lawyer will sue him out of the show. Oh, and if you want to hear someone who is sue-happy, I recommend Weird Al's I'll Sue Ya.

He is so rude to everyone, and his voice is so annoying that he needs to be killed off.

  17. Agnes Skinner

Agnes Skinner is just cruel to Seymour for no reason. Not funny and very unlikable.

She is a mean mother, but she's honestly pretty hilarious. I can't help but feel amused whenever she says "Seymour."

She's a person who thinks that she's tougher than anyone. It's annoying.

  18. Gil Gunderson

He is the Jerry Smith of The Simpsons. A pathetic loser who drags the Simpsons, namely Marge, into his problems. To quote Rick and Morty, "You may act like prey, but you're a predator. Using pity to trap your victims. That's how you survive."

Too sad for a funny show. Anytime he appears, he ruins the episode. Plus, in Season 30, Episode 10, he trades something Marge gave to him instead of giving her kids what they wanted. Who does that!?

He is quite annoying, and he fakes being poor and sad to get advantages, like when he hustled Lisa or lived with Marge and got a good house. I just don't like him.

  19. Judge Constance Harm

She actually presided over a case in which she was the plaintiff. That's illegal because it violates the constitutional right to a fair trial.

Marge said it best. She's a butthole.

    Simpsons parody of Judge Judy.

  20. Seymour Skinner

Principal W. Seymour Skinner is a fictional character from the American animated television series The Simpsons. He is the principal of Springfield Elementary School and is known for his strict, bureaucratic personality. The character is voiced by Harry Shearer.

Skinner in the Classic era was one of the best characters. Not only was he Bart's foil, but he was also a man who, even when he could be cynical, had a sweetness deep down that was not shown very often.

He is a huge victim of flanderization. He was always a dorky mama's boy, but much like Flanders' religion, his mommy issues grew in his character like a tumor. In the Classic years, he was more of a mild-mannered man with a hard past in the Vietnam War, and since season 10 or so, they made him just a pathetic wet blanket of a man.

And because of his flanderization, his dynamic with Bart and the rest of the characters is not as funny or interesting as it used to be, just predictable.

  21. Milhouse Van Houten

Milhouse Mussolini Van Houten is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons. He is voiced by Pamela Hayden and was created by Matt Groening. The character's name includes Mussolini as a joke and Milhouse, which was President Richard Nixon's middle name.

I can't stand Milhouse. His voice is so irritating and annoying, it drives me crazy. He's definitely, in my opinion, the worst character.

The other character I hate who should be in the top 10 is the Bumblebee Man. He's not shown all that much, but he's just such a stupid and pointless character. He gets on my nerves!

I have tried to find ways to like Millhouse, but I just can't. I think the part I hate most about him is that whenever he gets more attention or power, especially if it surpasses Bart's level, he takes it to a whole new level and abuses it (e.g. Bart's soul, turning his back on Bart at times to elevate his popularity).

  22. Rod Flanders

He is not seen very much, so you can't really say. By the way, Maggie is not the worst character.

    Too religious.

  23. Todd Flanders

He doesn't have much character development other than being good, which kinda makes him a tacky Gary Stu.

In the newer episode where Todd lost faith, he was getting into Homer and Marge's business!

The only funny thing about him was when he was scared by a moth.

  24. Waylon Smithers

He loves Mr. Burns but never tells him or does anything about it, so he's useless.

He does the crappy job with the crappy boss.

He hates and loves all the employees.

  25. Bumblebee Man

  26. Hans Moleman

Hans Moleman is a recurring character on the animated television series The Simpsons. He was created by series creator Matt Groening and is voiced by Dan Castellaneta. Moleman first appeared in the episode "Principal Charming" and is known for his frail appearance and frequent misfortunes.

  27. Mayor Joe Quimby

Worst character ever, constantly breaking the law and getting away with it just because he's the stupid mayor. Not to mention he's sexist and thinks he's the boss of everything, and also his voice is so irritating.

Worst character ever. Gets away with everything. Sleeps with women when he has a wife. He's a manipulative cheating bastard who needs to be killed off the show.

  28. Ned Flanders

Nedward "Ned" Flanders Jr., more commonly known as Flanders, is the Simpson family's deeply religious next-door neighbor. He's a genuinely well-meaning, good-natured person who, despite his strong faith, can be timid and somewhat of a pushover.... read more

I don't think he is one of the worst characters, but his flanderization is proof that killing Maude was a big mistake. After that, they only dedicated themselves to making stuff that goes totally against the satire and edge his character originally embodied. He is supposed to be Homer's foil, but the writers since season 11 forgot that the point of his character is that he is supposed to be a unicorn of warm spirits and good intentions in a world of people like Homer.

Over time, The Simpsons has become lame. The plots are stale, and the characters are overplayed. For example, Ned Flanders, who used to be my favourite character, has morphed from a funny, cheerful optimist into an irritating, spiteful annoyance who shuns the opinions of anyone other than him. I'm a Christian and an optimist, but even I think that he goes too far. Not having respect for others is not what God wants.

  29. Jimbo Jones

His girlfriend, whatever her name is, who is the daughter of Superintendent Chalmers, can do way better than be his girlfriend!

Superintendent Chalmers' daughter can do way better than date Jimbo because:

    1. She's too mature for him.

    2. She can be quite mean, but not as bad as Jimbo.

That Jimbo jerk bullies everyone for no reason, and the same goes for his other two friends, who are also jerks.
