Top 10 Reasons Why Homer Simpson is Better Than Peter Griffin

The Top Ten
  1. He's funnier

He has better lines (e.g., Stupid like a fox, I am so smart, S-M-R-T). I can't remember any funny Peter lines.

    Peter just uses inappropriate jokes.

  2. He's not offensive

Peter is offensive to lots of people in some jokes.

  3. He doesn't use inappropriate jokes

  4. He doesn't hate his wife

  5. He doesn't blame his problems on his daughter

Peter abuses his children, but most of all, he hates his daughter, Meg! Homer, on the other hand (at least in the first eight seasons), never favored one of his children over another! He loves all his children equally, and that's why he's so much better as a father!

  6. He pays attention to his son

Homer cares about Bart, while Peter probably doesn't even know how old Chris is.

Peter doesn't care about Stewie at all.

  7. He's more original

I think classic Family Guy was dark but more heartfelt. It was supposed to be like a The Simpsons rip-off.

Ain't that the truth? Peter Griffin is a terrible ripoff, and Family Guy should be canceled.

  8. He isn't mean to his daughter

One thing that made me stop watching Family Guy is the fact that all the jokes and humor were overshadowed by my feeling insanely sorry for Meg. Her life is horrible. Her entire family hates her, especially her father. In fact, Brian is right in saying that Meg is the strongest person in the family. If my life were filled with such misery, I would have ended it ages ago. I just can't stand watching how Peter treats Meg. The fact that the producers think this is funny is proof that Family Guy should just end already.

Homer, on the other hand, has a beautiful relationship with Lisa. I still remember the episode where Lisa needed to relieve her stress and momentarily had a vision of herself as Homer. She realized that Homer did a lot of things he hated for the sake of spending time with her. Peter would never do that, even if it wasn't Meg. What Homer lacks in brains, he makes up for in his big heart and innocence.

  9. He has better quotes

  10. He has a bigger heart

Homer has a big, big heart, while Peter doesn't even have a soul.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    He's less abusive

  13. ?

    He loves his family

Weren't the Griffins more of a happy family in seasons 1-3 when it was accused of being copycat of The Simpsons. They had to change it for more originality.

  14. The Contenders
  15. He abuses his son, but in a funny way

Homer strangles Bart in impossibly funny ways, like breaking the walls of their bedrooms and strangling him.

  16. He has funnier quotes

Both, I think, were funniest in the older days.

  17. He's nicer

Yeah... Peter shot Meg in the face for saying Hi. Homer lets Lisa say Hi to him all the time. Homer strangles Bart. Peter attempts to drown Meg.

    Homer cares about his family.

Peter would rather drink beer with his friends.

    Homer is the better man.

Homer is a heavily flawed man, but there's a good side to him, and he's shown to absolutely adore his family. Peter, while he's hilarious, really isn't the greatest father. He could commit a deadly murder and easily blame it on Meg.

Homer Simpson is a stupid but kind and funny father, while Peter Griffin is basically an adult version of Eric Cartman but without the funniness.

  18. He's funny stupid instead of stupid stupid

  19. He's a better husband

  20. He's more of a family guy

Homer is a family guy. Peter is just not...

He loves his family. Although he doesn't always make them happy, he always does the best he can.

  21. He's smarter

Even when Homer says the dumbest things, they're often so cleverly stupid and perfectly contradictory, delivered so fast with the best presentation. Peter's stupidity, on the other hand, often breaks the plot of so many episodes to the point where it gets annoying.

  22. He's more sane

That episode with that fat mental guy who thought he was Michael Jackson. Homer Simpson got a certificate saying "Not Insane," and he was only sent to the mental hospital because of a pink shirt, being too lazy to fill in the paperwork, and having Bart mess it up.

  23. He tries to be a good father

Homer tries. He knows he messes up. He knows he makes mistakes. He feels remorseful and tries to make it right. He doesn't always succeed, but dang it, he tries!

Peter, on the other hand, cares only about himself. He goes out of his way to mess things up because he thinks it's funny, regardless of who it hurts.

When Homer hurts someone, it's not intentional, and he wants to fix it!

  24. He's less judgmental

Homer may be stupid, but at least he has a heart. Homer actually treats his family better, while Peter treats his own wife like crap. Peter never listens to anyone. All he does is say what he thinks is right. He never has time to listen to other people's opinions. And when he does, he belittles them! What a jerk!

This is why I like Homer Simpson!

  25. He's kinder to his neighbors

  26. He isn't racist

The only reason why The Simpsons were able to go on all these years is because Homer isn't as selfish as Peter is!

  27. He's a better listener

Homer may be stupid, but at least he has a heart! He treats his family better than Peter treats his own daughter! Besides, Peter never listens to anyone. Peter only does what he thinks is best. And even when he does listen to other people's opinions, he criticizes them! What a jerk!

  28. His bad episodes are better

  29. He's plausibly stupid

Peter does or says things sometimes that are so stupid it's painful to listen to or watch. For example, the time he cut off his thumb and gave it to Lois because he forgot to buy her a present. Nobody, anywhere, would do anything so stupid... the stupid things Homer does or says, there are people in real life who do or say them.
