Top 10 Strongest My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Characters
You've seen them blast villains with beams of magic, raise the sun and moon like it's just another Tuesday, and rewrite reality because they were bored. Friendship is magic, sure, but sometimes friendship also comes with enough raw power to level a mountain or bend time itself. This list is your chance to weigh in on which My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic characters really bring the heat when things go down in Equestria.
We're not just talking about who has the biggest magical blasts, although that definitely helps. Strength shows up in all kinds of ways. Magical skill, leadership, emotional control, and even the ability to stand strong in a fight against literal gods all count. Think about the characters who have pulled off wild feats, faced ridiculous odds, or made you say, "Okay, that was kind of insane" while watching the show.

Discord
Discord, known as the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony, is a fictional character from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. He first appeared in 2010 as the main antagonist, then gradually reformed and became a recurring supporting character.... read more
I love this guy for how much of a funny personality he has, unlike Sombra or Nightmare Moon. And he's so unique in the way he makes most of us like him more than the main (sorry, mane) characters, especially in "Keep Calm and Flutter On", where they (not including Fluttershy) didn't give him a fair chance! I mean, I get it, you hate him, but didn't Celestia want you to "not" hate him and give him a chance?
Anyway, I shouldn't be talking about how much I like this character so much. I heard he can lift the moon and the sun with ease and much more speed. And, oh yeah, he's the only character (not including those electric bees from that one episode) that is immune to Fluttershy's stare. Seems powerful, but all he needed was a friend, and what better choice than to choose the best character in the mane six, "Fluttershy". And it is adorable when they're together.
Well, I don't exactly know how to end this off, so um...
Bye.

Princess Luna
Princess Luna is a fictional character from the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, which aired from 2010 to 2019 . She is an alicorn pony and the younger sister of Princess Celestia, sharing rulership of Equestria. Luna controls the raising and lowering of the Moon and guards dreams... read more
Luna is, without a doubt, the strongest character in My Little Pony! I mean, seriously, first of all, she was strong enough to break free of Nightmare Moon. And sure, the Elements were used, but really it was Luna who broke herself free.
In the episode "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep", she revealed that she has been keeping the Tantabus in her dreams to save all her people. And she has had nightmares for a long time because she cares so much about her people! She is so strong to be able to do that! She is SUCH a strong character! BEST princess of all time!
Princess Luna is indeed way more powerful than Twilight Sparkle.
First of all, Luna is immortal. Second, she can raise the moon, and Twilight was only able to do that with Luna's powers. While Twilight was able to defeat Luna when she was Nightmare Moon, Twilight never would have been able to do so without the help of her friends.
So while Twilight may be more powerful than Luna when she is with her friends, Luna is more powerful as an individual than Twilight.

Tirek
He can literally absorb power and grow stronger. What else do you want?
-
Starlight Glimmer
Starlight Glimmer is a recurring character, initially an antagonist, in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She first appears in the Season 5 premiere, The Cutie Map. From The Cutie Re-Mark Part 2 to Celestial Advice, she serves as Twilight Sparkle's student in the ways of friendship.
Why is Starlight Glimmer the most powerful? For one thing, she wound up banishing Discord's body from the school of friendship. I highly doubt anypony else could have even come close to that.
Many people go on and on about Twilight, but in "The Cutie Re-Mark" Twilight had to use persuasion to get Starlight to stop. She is the ONE villain that Twilight couldn't beat. I will admit, I would have loved to see Starlight alter the timeline to where she was the Element of Magic. She is the superior magic user after all.
I personally believe that some unicorns are born with talent while others have to learn it. Both Twilight and Starlight have a lot of talent and were born to be naturals, but Starlight was born a step above Twilight. I think that she would have easily made a better Element of Magic.
I do think that she is vastly more powerful than Celestia and Luna. All you'd have to do is teach her how to handle the celestial bodies, and she could rule Equestria without an amulet like Twilight does. When it comes to the other Alicorn princess (Cadence), she has nothing on Starlight. She is never really shown to do anything extraordinary at all.

Queen Chrysalis
Queen Chrysalis is a female changeling who serves as the main antagonist in the season 2 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She reappears in later seasons and becomes part of a villainous alliance with Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow. Her character is known for her shape-shifting abilities and quest... read more
She is the lost crystal princess. She accepted the fact that King Sombra was corrupt, and she lost half of her nation and her home. To accept that and move on in life is hard and takes real strength to accept and move on.
Have you ever stopped to appreciate that her powers can be practically infinite if she absorbs enough love?
She is the greatest villain. I want to see more of her.
-
Twilight Sparkle
Twilight Sparkle is the primary main character of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She is a female unicorn pony who transforms into an Alicorn and becomes a princess in the episode Magical Mystery Cure. Her character is known for her intelligence, love of books, and leadership qualities.
Twilight is smart and very strong, but I have to admit she should take Luna's place, and Sunset Shimmer should take Celestia's place. Twilight's cutie mark represents stars for the night, and Sunset represents the sun/day.
Twilight is more powerful than Starlight Glimmer. If Starlight were stronger than Twilight, why didn't they make Starlight the ruler of Equestria, or at least give her Celestia's role? Twilight can take Luna's place, and Sunset can take Celestia's. If Twilight's friends pass away and she still has no students, who will help her?
Twilight will rule Equestria for 2,000 years, just like Celestia did. She is kind and honest. Twilight didn't stop Starlight with her powers because she didn't want to hurt her friends or scare her students. Also, remember that if Twilight hadn't taught Starlight her spells after the time-traveling incident, Starlight wouldn't be as strong as she is. Twilight is stronger.
-
Princess Celestia
As the ruler of Equestria, she is depicted as wise, benevolent, and possessing powerful magic. Princess Celestia raises the sun and governs alongside her sister, Princess Luna. Her mentorship of Twilight Sparkle is a central element of the show's storyline, emphasizing leadership, friendship, and responsibility... read more
Many people say that Celestia only won against Nightmare Moon because of the Elements of Harmony, which is true. However, Celestia was not trying to beat her because she did not want to hurt her sister. She had no choice but to banish her to the moon because it was obvious that Luna was not going to lower the moon!
She is the most powerful character in My Little Pony. That is, she controls the time since that represents her Cutie Mark, the passing of the day, and she is also capable of moving the Sun and the Moon alone for millennia. I mean, she has a Multiversal power.
In addition, she is considered the Goddess of the Franchise.

Applejack
Applejack is a female Earth pony and one of the main characters of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She lives and works at Sweet Apple Acres with her grandmother Granny Smith, her older brother Big McIntosh, her younger sister Apple Bloom, and her dog Winona. Applejack represents the Element of Honesty... read more
I agree that Applejack is the strongest. She even has super strength in Equestria Girls! Although Rainbow Dash beat her in a hoof-wrestling match, honestly, Rainbow Dash was cheating for almost the entire competition. Sure, Applejack cheated during the race, but Rainbow Dash cheated in all the events, so she probably cheated during the hoof-wrestling too.
Plus, Earth ponies are naturally strong. Applejack can plow a field with a very heavy wagon (I don't know what it's called, but whatever). She's a country pony and can lasso incredibly well. Just look at the episode Princess Twilight Sparkle - when those plants were attacking Twilight, Applejack lassoed them down with no problem whatsoever.
Besides, why else would Applejack get her powers in Equestria Girls? It's not just because they wanted her to have them. It's because she really is strong, even in Equestria!

Daybreaker
Celestia is more powerful than Luna, and with this extra power, she can most definitely beat anyone she wants other than Discord. It appears that she had a change of mind and was given extra power, so there is no force fighting from the inside.
Honestly, she beat Nightmare Moon. It may have been a dream, but still.
-
Star Swirl the Bearded
I voted for him because even though he's my least favorite pillar, he opened a portal and managed to keep it open long enough to send the sirens forward in time for a thousand years and into another dimension.
He demolished Discord's plans with ease. He knows more spells (and created more spells) than any pony. Discord is the only one who can beat him in a 1 v 1.
Star Swirl is one of the main Pillars! He and his friends also saved Equestria like the Mane 6.

Strong Schoolpony

Flash Magnus
He took on dragons without an issue and survived getting hit by a ton of lightning.
-
Nightmare Moon
Nightmare Moon is the corrupted form of Princess Luna, the younger sister of Princess Celestia. As Nightmare Moon, she first appeared as the main antagonist in the Season 1 premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Her transformation stemmed from jealousy and a desire to bring about eternal night... read more
Twilight could have been defeated when the Elements of Harmony gave up on her. Nightmare Moon has unlimited powers and also managed to vanish her sister temporarily.

Big MacIntosh
How is he last!? Did anyone watch the episode about the love potion?
-
Tempest Shadow
Even though she is without a horn, she is really powerful.
-
Rainbow Dash
Rainbow Dash is a female Pegasus pony from the animated television show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, which premiered in 2010. She represents the Element of Loyalty and is one of the six main characters featured in the series.... read more
Rainbow Dash should be number one for several reasons: 1. She makes sonic rainbooms, and that took a lot of strength and speed. 2. She is brave and loyal. 3. She is awesome. Who agrees with me?
Yeah, she is really strong and brave too. She is athletic and has a nice kick, so she should be the second strongest.
If you don't think that Rainbow Dash is the strongest, you don't know how to spell "the best pony ever"!
-
Spitfire
Spitfire is a character in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, serving as the captain of the aerial acrobatics team, the Wonderbolts. She is a Pegasus pony known for her leadership qualities and flying prowess. Spitfire's character often explores themes of teamwork, discipline, and the challenges of... read more
She is amazing. She is just so hilarious, and I mean, she's the leader of the Wonderbolts. She's a very strong flyer, and she's just overall awesome.
-
King Sombra
King Sombra, or simply Sombra, is a major antagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He appears as the main antagonist in the Season 3 premiere, "The Crystal Empire," and the Season 9 premiere, "The Beginning of the End." Sombra is a male, initially-umbrum unicorn and the former tyrannical ruler... read more
The dude is powerful and one of my favorite villains. The dude corrupted the whole empire alone with his own power.
Archimedes, this guy is pure chaos. He is filled with hatred. Gosh.
He can easily fight and defeat alicorns, has a wide variety of magical powers, and has tanked an attack from the Elements of Harmony.
-
Sunset Shimmer
Sunset Shimmer is a female unicorn pony-turned-human and a former antagonist introduced in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls. She is a student at Canterlot High School and was previously a student of Princess Celestia. Sunset is also the rhythm guitarist for the student band The Rainbooms.
Sunset Shimmer was Celestia's pupil before Twilight, and she probably didn't have a sonic rainboom to help her become it. Sunset was only able to be defeated with six people working together, and she had already taken over a whole school.
She is so powerful. She turned into a villain and defeated the evil Twilight Sparkle. Plus, she has evil powers and powers that are good too. She also saves the day, and that is what makes her powerful and smart.
She is strong, beautiful, and fierce. Some people say that I remind them of her, but I don't see it. I could never be as amazing as she is.
-
Flurry Heart
This pony is only a foal, and she already can tire out a princess and the captain of the royal guard. She doesn't understand that what she does is dangerous, so she could destroy half of Equestria and not notice.
Flurry Heart had enough power to break the Crystal Heart when she was a baby. Not even the other princesses could do that. They couldn't even find a way to fix it without Sunburst's help.
Flurry Heart managed to destroy the Crystal Heart with a scream?! I don't see anyone else doing that.
-
Pony of Shadows
The Pony of Shadows was able to create two villains and give them evil power. I don't think that it was the strongest because the ponies could fight from the inside.
This guy should definitely be number 2. He took the combined blast of 2 sets of the Elements of Harmony, Twilight, Starswirl, Starlight, and Sunburst, and was able to resist for a little while.
Only character that did okay against the Elements of Harmony.
-
Maud Pie
-
Gilda
Gilda is a reformed antagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She first appears in Season 1, Episode 5, Griffon the Brush-Off, where she is the main antagonist. Gilda makes brief cameos in Season 3's Magical Mystery Cure and Season 4's Equestria Games.

Princess Cadance
Princess Cadence is a character from the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She serves as the ruler of the Crystal Empire alongside her husband, Shining Armor.
Known for her calm demeanor and wisdom, she acts as a guiding figure for other characters in the series. Despite her... read more
She spreads love, and she manages to raise a powerful baby and a wonderful husband. She also can rule the Crystal Empire and does everything for the kingdom to have harmony and love.
Well, if Flurry Heart is that strong, she had to get it from someone.
I wish I had a ponysitter like her... Twilight is so lucky.
-
Shining Armor
Shining Armor is one of the secondary characters in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He is a male unicorn pony, Twilight Sparkle's older brother, and the son of Twilight Velvet and Night Light. He is also Princess Cadance's husband and Flurry Heart's father.... read more
Shining Armour is great! You can't blame him for being controlled by Queen Chrysalis! He went through a lot, but was still there in the end!
He's obviously really powerful in the magic department. He could hold the shield around Canterlot for quite a long period of time.
-
Rarity
Rarity is a female unicorn pony from the 2010 animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She represents the Element of Generosity and has a strong passion for fashion. She owns the Carousel Boutique, where she designs and creates stylish clothing.
Rarity is also so full of fashion. She knows what to do and does it at the right time. She is always prepared. Even though she is not as powerful as Twilight, she will do whatever she can to protect her friends.
Just because she is a lady does not mean she cannot handle herself.
-
Fluttershy
Fluttershy is a female pegasus pony from the animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which aired from 2010 to 2019. She is known for her gentle and timid personality, and she cares deeply for animals. Fluttershy represents the Element of Kindness in the series.
Fluttershy is very shy, but she knows when to stand up and be strong. After all, she is the stare master. Fluttershy has a great talent for talking to animals. It's pretty cool that she can understand them.
So we're not going to talk about how Fluttershy literally managed to befriend the monsters in Tartarus? Straight away, case closed.
