Top 10 WWE PPV Matches that Should Have Been the Main Event

As a longtime WWE fan who grew up during the Ruthless Aggression era and still watches to this day, I can't help but feel that some PPV matches deserved to be in the main event. However, Vince McMahon, in his own twisted and out-of-touch way, wouldn't let that happen.

Here is my personal top 10 list of matches that definitively deserved to close the show.
The Top Ten
CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Hell in a Cell Match - Bad Blood 2024)

Screw The Rock and his grandiose return. Both the feud and the match of the year were right here.

Randy Orton vs. John Cena (I Quit Match - Breaking Point 2009)

This match was one of Randy's top career-defining moments, and the same goes for John.

AJ Styles vs. Brock Lesnar (Survivor Series 2017)

AJ should have won this match, smh.

The Undertaker vs. Batista (Last Man Standing Match - Backlash 2007)

One of my favorite Last Man Standing matches of all time. Batista really cemented himself as a legend in this bout.

AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe (No Holds Barred Match - Super Show-Down 2018)

This was the true main event, given the stakes, buildup, tension, everything.

WrestleMania 28 was THE end of an era. Why tarnish that memory with Triple H and The Undertaker, who could barely move at that point?

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (Hell in a Cell - Hell in a Cell 2020)

One of their most epic matches... speaking as a Sasha fan.

Randy Orton vs. Christian (Capitol Punishment 2011)

This match was much more deserving of closing the show rather than the clown show with Cena and R-Truth.

Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio (Ladder Match - Extreme Rules 2011)
Kane vs. Edge vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio (TLC Match - TLC 2010)
Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk (Over the Limit 2012)

Whoever put it here, I 1000% agree with you. That main event with Cena and Laurinaitis was a DISASTER.

The Contenders
Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (Steel Cage Match - SummerSlam 1994)
The Undertaker vs. Big Show vs. Chris Jericho (Survivor Series 2009)

This match had better buildup and intrigue compared to the other triple threat.

The Rock vs. Hollywood Hogan (Icon vs. Icon - WrestleMania X8)
Rob Van Dam vs. Edge (Vengeance 2006)
2006 Royal Rumble Match
JBL vs. Eddie Guerrero (Bullrope Match - The Great American Bash 2004)
Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (WrestleMania XXV)
Kane vs. The Undertaker (Buried Alive Match - Bragging Rights 2010)
