Top 10 Disney Movies with More Than One Sequel

Disney has a very bad reputation when it comes to sequels. I’m hoping that Wreck-it Ralph 2, Incredibles 2, and Frozen 2 will be good. Disney has come out with a lot of sequels in the past, most of which were direct to dvd, and some movies managed to get more than one sequel. So let’s discuss. Also, no Marvel movies please.
The Top Ten
1 Toy Story

In my opinion, I knew a toy story 4 was going to happen. Because they want to do more adventures with Bonnie. Sure there’s shorts, and holiday specials, but I feel like a 4th movie is a perfect opportunity to do more adventures with Bonnie. But that’s just a theory, I probably could be wrong.

Toy story is the best! I love this franchise! The 2nd one is my favorite!

The Toy Story movies are just amazing. I love them!

Toy Story is the very first Pixar movie to ever be created. It’s too bad the man responsible for it is going to get fired eventually. Because of its popularity, it ended up getting sequels. Toy Story 2 did exactly what a sequel should do. It introduced us to new likeable characters while also giving us a bigger story by raising the stakes. Then years later they came out with Toy Story 3 which was even better. It had a lot more emotion to it and a lot more heart. It had one of the best endings ever with Andy giving away his toys to show us that he is grown up. Such a great movie. But unfortunately, they decided that wasn’t enough for them. Next year, they’re coming out with a Toy Story 4. Maybe it will be good and maybe it will be bad. But it’s pretty obvious that it is very unnecessary. It takes place after Toy Story 3 and is about Woody and Buzz trying to find Bo Peep. It’s been having some production issues, so I’m kind of worried for it. Honestly, there doesn’t need ...more

2 Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl

I love this series it is so awesome please vote for it and leave a comment. -HungerGamesNerd180

It's the best movie ever made in my opinion

The only one that's great!

I’ll admit, I don’t think the Pirates sequels are as bad as everyone makes them sound. But we can all agree that they haven’t been able to live up to the original. Kind of hard to do that since the original is so great. For a movie based on a theme park ride. Speaking of which, I really hate how they changed the auction scene in the ride at WDW. It’s a shame they’re doing the same thing to the one at DLR. Anyway, Pirates of the Caribbean currently has 4 sequels with a possible 5th one coming out. The only two sequels I didn’t like were At World’s End and Dead Men Tell No Tales. I felt that At World’s End was way longer than it needed to be. It was really boring and it had a very complicated plot. With Dead Men Tell No Tales, it was just kinda stupid. They completely ruined Jack Sparrow in that movie. They also introduced us to two new characters that are so bland that I prefer Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. The other sequels I actually quite enjoy. Long story short, ...more

3 Beauty and the Beast (1991)

First things first, one of my biggest pet peeves on TheTopTens is lists where you can tell they were just put together without any thought or effort put into them. They just place the first things that pop into their mind, not in any particular order, and call it a list. And sometimes they would make multiple lists with the same stuff on them which would make them feel very repetitive. When I make lists, I actually think very carefully about what I’m including in them before submitting them. With that being said, the Beauty and the Beast sequels have absolutely no effort put into them whatsoever. Enchanted Christmas is just dull and contains some plot holes where as Belle’s Magical World is just episodes from an unaired T.V. series. Which is sad because the original movie had so much effort put into it. By the way. I recently bought tickets to the Beauty and the Beast Hollywood Bowl concert. Just so you know. I’m seeing it in May. I mean, Zooey Deschanel as Belle? Rebel Wilson ...more

4 The Lion King

In my mind, there are only two sequels to the Lion King. Simba’s Pride and Lion King 1 1/2. Some people might argue and say that the Lion Guard pilot counts as another sequel, but I refuse to believe that the Lion Guard is canon. Such an awful show that ruins everything I love about the Lion King. Simba’s Pride I feel is very underrated. While the original was pretty much a retelling of Hamlet, Simba’s Pride is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. I like the new characters that were introduced. Even the villain is really great. Then there was another sequel that came out and it is called Lion King 1 1/2. It’s pretty much a midquel that takes place during the events of the first movie but through the point of view of Timon and Pumbaa. Personally, I thought it was very funny. I like seeing how Timon and Pumbaa met and seeing what they were doing while each moment from the original was happening. It also has one of the funniest endings to any Disney movie ever. These are good sequels ...more

This does not have 2 sequels it has 1

5 The Little Mermaid

I love this movie it is amazing disney makes sequels to movies that people enjoy so that goes to the little mermaid with 2 even if they suck

6 Aladdin
7 Cinderella (1950)

Cinderella managed to get two direct to dvd sequels. One was good and one was bad. Let’s start with the bad one. Cinderella 2 is just made up of little segments that don’t have much of a relation with each other and it all just feels like lazy writing. Now let’s discuss the good one. Other than that terrible song at the beginning, Cinderella 3 isn’t really bad. It actually gives development to one of the stepsisters. Which makes her an actual likeable character. Not only that, but even Prince Charming gets more of a personality. Which is great since he was pretty bland in the original. Even the humor works for the most part. It’s rare when direct to dvd sequels have strong writing, but this one does. I’d probably even say it’s just as good if not better than the original movie. Definitely a charming sequel to a charming movie.

8 Cars

Cars got two sequels before the Incredibles even got one. Regardless of what you think of the first movie, I think we can all agree that Cars 2 was garbage. Given the amount of people that hate it, that pretty much makes it objective. The whole Grand Prix world tour thing sounded like an interesting concept, but what was with the whole spy plot? One of the things that makes the first Cars movie so good is that it focuses on the fact that they’re cars! With Cars 2, you can make these characters humans and it wouldn’t change much. This felt like fan fiction. Mater is too annoying to be the center of attention. It would be like giving Jar Jar Binks his own movie. Most of the humor is only humor that the smallest of kids would laugh at. Kids that don’t exist because no one can possibly find these jokes funny! As for Cars 3, I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. First off, it pretends that Cars 2 doesn’t exist. It even gives Mater less screen time. Also, it actually ...more

9 Lilo & Stitch

This movie has more sequels than it deserves. As well as a T.V. series. It has 3 sequels and I talked about two of them in my previous list. There’s the one that starts the T.V. series and the one that ends the T.V. series. They’re pretty much sequels regardless. But then there’s one that has nothing to do with the series and is actually a legit sequel. Stitch Has a Glitch! A lot of people hate that sequel but I personally kinda enjoy it. Although, it does have problems. I don’t know why Jumba couldn’t tell the others about Stitch’s problem. They could’ve done something to help. It just felt like a forced way to cause a fight between Lilo and Stitch. What saves this movie for me is that it still has heart to it. Especially in the end when Lilo is crying over the supposed loss of her best friend. There was definitely effort put into this sequel unlike most other Disney sequels. Which is ironic since it was directed by the guy who made the worst animated movie ever. Lilo ...more

10 Tinker Bell (2008)

Tinker Bell is actually a lot more likeable in these movies than she is in Peter Pan. That doesn’t make her a good character though. I watched every single Tinker Bell movie for my own personal reasons that I’m not going to discuss. These movies do have good things in them. The voice cast is brilliant, the jokes work very well, and the animation, while not brilliant, is still pretty good. There are currently 6 Tinker Bell movies. The original where we discover Tink’s origins, the one where Tink goes on an adventure to fix a blue crystal rock thing, the one where Tink gets captured by a little girl, the one where Tink discovers an icy area and meets winter faries, the one where Tink and the other fairies fight Loki and his gang of pirates, and the one where Fawn finds a nonexistent animal. That last one is definitely the worst one since Fawn is a very irritating character with no redeeming qualities. The other sequels I quite enjoyed. They’re pretty unique in their own ways. I ...more
