Hi-NRG (pronounced High Energy) is a form of dance music (disco, EDM, etc) that features upbeat tempos, staccato hi-hat rhythms, a 4 on the floor pattern, plus intense vocals & pulsating octave basslines. It originated between the late 1970s & early 1980s, yet is commonly used with synth pop.
The classic from Dead or Alive, which made them 1 hit wonders. It's upbeat & has all the elements needed for Hi-NRG. Yet good storyline & lyrics as well. became a cultural phenomenon in music & pop culture yet became an internet meme throughout the years. R.I.P. to the leader of the band (Pete Burns) in 2016.
