NFL Teams With the Best Defenses Going Into the 2018 Season
Some teams heavily rely on offense, but ignore defense. However, these teams are doing well opposite to offense. We’re looking at the NFL teams with the best defenses going into the 2018 season.Notable players: Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye, Calais Campbell, Myles Jack, Dante Fowler Jr, Telvin Smith, Malik Jackson, Yannick Ngakoue.
I have Jacksonville ranked above Minnesota. I really like this defense. Just imagine what would have happened if they hadn't played the Patriots in the AFC Championship. We could have been looking at Super Bowl champions.
Their defense compensates for their mediocre offense. This defense could carry them to the big game.
Definitely the best and will stay the best.
Notable Players: Xavier Rhodes, Harrison Smith, Anthony Barr, Everson Griffen, Linval Joseph, Sheldon Richardson, Eric Kendricks, Danielle Hunter, Terence Newman, Mike Hughes.
The number one ranked defense of 2017 is out for revenge in 2018. With this stacked defense, it's achievable.
Notable Players: Cameron Jordan, Marshon Lattimore, Marcus Williams, Marcus Davenport, Manti Te'o, Sheldon Rankins.
New Orleans is lucky to have an amazing offense and defense. Last year's draft picks, Marshon Lattimore and Marcus Williams, have already proven themselves as playmakers. Marcus Davenport is a nice complement to the defensive line already consisting of Cameron Jordan. They're set on defense for 2018.
Notable Players: Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, Lamarcus Joyner, Sam Shields.
Boy, the Rams looked stacked this year. Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh will be an absolute nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. Not to mention a sturdy veteran defensive backfield of Aqib Talib, Sam Shields, and Marcus Peters. Not only that, with the offense they have, I must say that the rest of the NFC should fear them.
Notable Players: JJ Watt, Whitney Mercilus, Jadeveon Clowney, Tyrann Mathieu, Jonathan Joseph.
Their defense has been injury prone in recent years, but this is the most hyped Texans team of the 2010s, with Watt and Watson healthy and a sufficient Andre Hal replacement in Tyrann Mathieu.
Notable Players: Fletcher Cox, Jalen Mills, Malcom Jenkins, Michael Bennett, Brandon Graham, Haloti Ngata.
Our defending Super Bowl champs need a good defense to succeed, and it looks like they're set. With Cox, Bennett, and Graham leading the defensive line, and Mills and Jenkins in the defensive backfield, it'll be tough to get past this Eagles defense.
Notable Players: Terrell Suggs, Jimmy Smith, Brandon Carr, Marlon Humphrey, CJ Mosley, Brandon Williams. They're like the Bills. Bad offense, but good defense. Will they be the Buffalo Bills of 2018?
Notable Players: Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Desmond King, Casey Hayward, Derwin James.
Bosa and Ingram aren't on the same level as Donald and Suh, but they could get there at some point. Plus, they've also got Hayward, King, and first rounder James in the defensive backfield. For a team aiming for a playoff run, I think their odds are pretty good with the defense they have.
Notable players: Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr., Bradley Chubb, Shane Ray, Su'a Cravens, Brandon Marshall.
Chubb, an already talented player, gets to play with Von Miller. That's a dream of many young defensive players, but it became a reality for Chubb. Harris has a huge responsibility as Aqib Talib's successor, but he has shown big potential.
Notable Players: Micah Hyde, Tre'Davious White, Lorenzo Alexander, Kyle Williams, Tremaine Edmunds, Trent Murphy, Star Lotulelei.
Buffalo's defense carried them to the postseason last year, but can it manage to do that again this year?
Why are they not on there? Think about the Legion of Boom.
