It was a nickname given to a boy named Norman Kochanowski who raged over a game called Unreal Tournament 2004 as he smashed his keyboard. It has spawned many internet memes and remixed in the late 2000s.

Behind the story, Kochanowski was responsible for making his alter ego Leopold Slikk. He used it in other videos such as "The Real Gangster". But when the Angry German Kid meme blasted in popularity, his career came to an end when he disappeared from the internet until 2018 when he made a response why he retired. He started to get bullied at school when people recognize him as the Angry German Kid. So he died his hair black and wore contacts so he won't be recognized. It has almost ruined his life. People wouldn't hire him for jobs or will just annoy him because of his association with the Angry German Kid. He began having homicidal thoughts and went to prison for a month. But he turned back from the meme that haunted his life by lifting weights, making music, working at a job, and creating a new YouTube channel.
