Most Misunderstood Warrior Cats

Cats from the Erin Hunter books I think are misunderstood.

The Top Ten

Mapleshade Mapleshade is a character in the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. She is a tortoiseshell she-cat with a white tail and mistakenly described as ginger-and-white.

Yes. Mapleshade is actually an interesting villain. I mean, Hawkfrost and Sol are horrible villains compared to her. She actually had a reason to be evil. She got exiled from her Clan, her friend and her mentor betrayed her, her kits drowned, her mate revealed that he never loved her, Reedshine flirts with her former mate in front of her, she gets kicked out of RiverClan, and she gets killed by a stupid apprentice, and then goes to the Dark Forest. Of course she would be evil after that! She is incredibly misunderstood. People hate her for tricking Crookedstar, but she wanted someone else to feel the pain that happened to her. So Mapleshade is a great cat, very misunderstood.

When people think of Mapleshade, they hate her because she is apparently "evil" and has killed many cats. But most people don't think on why she killed them. First, she was in love with a RiverClan warrior, which even though it was against the warrior code, doesn't deserve too severe of a punishment, but of course she gets exiled from her Clan for doing the same thing that COUNTLESS cats have done. She takes her kits with her and tries to cross the river to get to her mate, but her kits drown, all of them, while crossing. And then RiverClan rejected her. After that, she turned bitter. She gave her life to her dedication of getting revenge for her innocent kits, sent to their deaths by ThunderClan, her own Clan.

Hooray! Mapleshade and Ashfur were completely different things. Ashfur was simply angry because Squirrelflight didn't love hime, and his love life wasn't perfect. Mapleshade was ACTUALLY ABUSED. Her clan banned her for loving, her kits died in front of her, and her mate didn't care, and began to cheat on her. She also felt mental issues, she thought that she saw her own dead kits. Trashfur just wanted his life to be perfect.

YES! I'm so glad Mapleshade is first. To make you understand, I'll do a thing that compares Mapleshade to Bluestar.

1. Mapleshade fell in love with Riverclan warrior, same as Bluestar

2. Someone found out about Mapleshade and her forbidden love while Bluestar lied to her whole entire clan about the kits thing.

3. Bluestar had one kit die when all of Mapleshade's kits died.

4. Bluestar became leader and Mapleshade went to the dark forest.

5. Mapleshade wants revenge when Bluestar is enjoying her easy life.

6. Mapleshade fails to get revenge and Bluestar is sunning herself on the highrock.

Now you see why Mapleshade is misunderstood?

Hollyleaf Hollyleaf was one of the rare, strictly loyal cats of ThunderClan. She cherished the warrior code as a kit and came back to her clan in a time of need to fight-- even though she was cast out for killing Ashfur.

She killed Ash for a reason he told Squirrelflights secret and would not let her stop the fire. See she did that stuff for a reason. She is strong brave loyal and strict the good strict.

Holly leaf is better than Ash fur:
1. if Holly leaf hadn,t killed Ash fur 3 cats would have died.
2. Holly leaf was repentant would Ash fur have been?
3. If Holly leaf didn't exist 4 cats would have died on inSted onley 1.
Go Holly leaf

Hollyleaf was a great character! The clans misunderstood her! She is super loyal

Totally. Also, just saying Hollyleaf didn't actually kill Ashfur. If you've read warriors, the ultimate guide, on her page it says. 'She struck, he slipped, and when he fell into the stream with blood streaming from the wounds in his throat, she knew he was beyond saving." So there you go, sorry if I spoiled anything.

I don't understand why everyone believes Hollyleaf deserved redemption but Ashfur doesn't. Think about it, people: Holly had everything going for her. Her Clan, her family, they loved her. She found out the cats who raised her weren't her real parents... so what? They still cared about her, and so did her real mother! Plus she had her brothers and friends like Cinderheart, and her grandfather Firestar the Clan leader, and the rest of the Clan who supported her! But no, because she was obsessive, she let it get to her so much that she killed a cat, revealed the secret herself, and tried to kill another cat who happened to be her OWN MOTHER. Then she ran away from her problems and hid for like a year before coming back and being given a second chance in spite of everything. What about Ashfur? He had NOTHING. He wasn't close to any cat, not even his own sister or adoptive brother, why? Because they both had mates and families. He thought he could have that too, with Squirrelflight, but ...more

Ashfur is amazing and he didn't deserve to die! He had his heart ripped out by Squirrelfight who choose BRAMBLECLAW of all people over him! If that was me I'd want to murder people too! He is just REALLY misunderstood and it is crazy that he is only third! He should be at least first on this list! And to think that HOLLYLEAF is ahead of him! She's not misunderstood, just annoying... So yeah, Ashfur is AMAZING, in my opinion, and I'm really sorry for using capitals for heaps of words.

For the record, Mapleshade is pure evil with an ugly heart, and Hollyleaf is cold, arrogant, and selfish (if Ashfur deserves the Dark Forest, then she certainly does too! )

Ashfur is misunderstood. He was seriously hurt and didn't deserve anything that happened to him. He deserves happiness...

He is very misunderstood. First he was used by a she-cat (Like Bumblestripe) without his feelings being cared about. He really liked Squirrelflight too. So what if he threatened to kill her "kits"? He never did, but all of a sudden fans start hating him because of it. But when Hollyleaf really kills him nobody cares because we can know what she's thinking. He's not really as horrible as everyone thinks he is.
Sorry, this is my opinion.

Bumblestripe wasn't used, he forced poor Dovewing to be his mate. Also, attempting to kill 3 people cause their mom broke up with you years ago, really? Squirrelflight had every right to be with Bramblestar, and Ashfur should've accepted that and moved on.

Scourge Scourge is a villain the Warrior Cats series . He's the leader of BloodClan . He was bullied by his siblings, Socks and Ruby, in the past because he was the smallest out of his kin . One of his most notable features is his collar of dog teeth .

Tigerstar was about to kill him before, when he was called Tiny, that is why he killed Tigerstar

poor scrounge nobody understood him , they all thought him as a dangerous murderer . SCOURGE RULES !

Scourge is a cat, who just wants to prove himself, had a terrible life.

Scourge was teased and scorned while he was young, and it was no wonder that he turned cold as he grew older. He built up BloodClan, trying to prove that he was more than a small nuisance following other cats around. He became the leader of the savage Twolegplace cats, and he killed Tigerstar, Firestar's oldest enemy. Then he died at the famous ThunderClan leader's paws. It wasn't his fault that he turned toward evil - other cats drove him into it with their mocking and scorn of him.

Millie Millie is a character in the Warriors series. She's a small, short-furred light gray tabby with blue eyes and a torn ear. Also current mate of Graystripe and mother of Bumblestripe, Blossomfall and Briarlight.

She should be in the top 5 because people hate her just because they love Silverstream and think they have to pick one and hate the other. - Marella

People hate Millie because she replaced Silverstream but Millie is a good cat, Silverstream allowed Graystripe to be mates with Millie and they both loved each other, it is sad that people hate Millie for falling love with Graystripe

Not gonna lie, I absolutely love Millie, especially sense I read the Manga Greystripe's Adventure, because it gives more development on their relationship. She did really save him, not just from his terrible fever, that probably would of killed him otherwise. But she also saved him emotionally, he was dreaming about Silverstream when he had the fever, and he might not have woken up if Millie hadn't woken him. He was the best thing for him, he needed another cat to love, since almost all his family members where dead. And he did truly love her, even if he does love Silverstream more. And people are hating on her because she spent more time, and payed more attention to Briarlight. But if your child has been paralyzed, you would pay more attention to them, no doubt. And she also has some really good quotes, and even Bramblestar had said that he really had never liked her much, but that he admired her after she said something inspiring (I could not find the quote though) And I admire her ...more - BlueberryCatfish

Poor Millie! Everyone forgets the good things about her and only remembers the one bad thing. As for Silverstream everyone remembers the 3 good things about her and forgets the 4 or 5 bad things!

The only reason he never seemed to loved Breezepelt was because he was worried he would fail them. He lost the cat who really seemed to care for him and saw what was under his grumpy shell. Then he tried to run away with Leafpool and then he had to back to his Clan where they all probably thought "Crowfeather fell in love with TWO cats from anther Clan and tried to run away? He is so disloyal! " He thought he had to take a mate from his Clan to prove his loyalty, and he was grieving over the fact he lost all he loved! He just wanted a mate and this seemed like the only way at the time. He stayed away from Breezepelt because he doesn't want to fail him like he did with Feathertail and Leafpool.

He’s misunderstood for sure. He can be a grouch at times but he so sweet when he shows the soft side of his heart!

You know why I voted? Because he's so misunderstood that I don't understand him.

Okay, no. He was treated fine, and he had no reason to act the way he did. Nobody treated him badly. Everyone had to put up with him being rude and selfish for NO REASON. His first mate was from a different Clan and died saving him, but why? Then he likes Leafpool, then hates her because they can't live together. Then he uses Nightcloud. He is not misunderstood at all.
Again, my opinion. You can think whatever you want. - Pebblepaw

Dovewing Dovewing is a character in the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. She has light grey fur with Amber, green, or blue eyes. Her first appearance is in the fourth arc, know as Omen of the Stars, in the book The Fourth Apprentice. She was part of the Power of Three, and her power was to hear and see things more.

Not a Mary Sue, I love her. Lover her, lover her, love her. Ivypool is the real mary Sue.

Same with Millie and Silverstream, people think they need to choose one and hate the other. Sure, Dovewing seemed to whine a lot, but we might not know the full story. Also SHE couldn't spy on the Dark Forest cats since they must had already marked her as an enemy.

Dovewing is an amazing character in my opinion. People call her a mary sue even though she has so many flaws, it's a bit confusing. She is sweet and I loved reading her point of view. And after she lost her powers she was scared, I mean, she had the powers her entire life, imagine if you were her. You would freak out as well. So what if she doesn't like Bumblestripe, there are so many reasons to dislike Bumble. Bumblestripe took out all his anger on Dove and would do anything for them to be together. I am so glad that Dovewing left him for Tigerheart. Though I do have to agree that their love was a bit rushed. "She stalked Tigerheart! " She loved him, why not use her powers to make sure her lover is safe? Is that so wrong?! "She broke the warrior code! " So did Firestar, Leafpool, Yellowfang, JAYFEATHER, and almost every single cat in the Clans! "She named one of her kits Shadowkit! " Who cares?!

Dovewing is not a Mary Sue. Everyone thinks that she is. Ivypool is the Mary Sue here

Ravenpaw Ravenpaw is a fictional character created by Erin Hunter for the book series Warrior Cats. He's a skinny, jet-black tom with a small white dash on his chest, greens eyes and a long, thing white tipped tail. He is shy, jumpy and nervous more.

I love you my bean don't listen to the people calling you a coward... meanes

He was a big sweetie.

He's kind of a wimp. He ran away from Tigerstar instead of staying and fighting alongside his clan. He just decided to go be a loner

Although I agree a little bit, he would have been slaughtered if he didn't go.

I love him! I only just read his death- so sad!

What is WRONG with Rainflower? And Mapleshade? They have both been cruel in Crookedstar's life but I still hate Maple more because she was pure evil and Rain is not that bad really. But anyways I think Crookedstar's more SAD than misunderstood. I hate Maple, who's with me?

How is he misunderstood? I thought everyone liked him - Blossomfrost

I know he made a promise to mapleshade but he was a kit all kits are a little stupid also he did it because he wanted do be the best warrior

Poor CROOKEDstar his mother was a awful cat and so many cats die in his family why mapleshade your so RUDE

EXCUSE ME! She is NOT misunderstood. She mocked and bullied Yellowfang. But really, she is just really rude. And by the way I hate to say this but I think her name suits her well.

And just HOW, may I ask, is she misunderstood? She drove poor Yellowfang crazy because she won over Raggedstar!

Foxheart isn't a tom. It says he is in Bluestar's Prophecy but that's a mistake! The series isn't perfect. It's a she! Read Yellowfang's Secret.
Honestly I feel sorry for her because she has such an awful name lol

Yeah, did her mother and leader secretly hate her or something?

I like Foxheart. HE in Bluestar's Prophecy it says Foxheart is a bright ginger TOM! I don't understand why everyone hates him so much!

The Newcomers

? Tigerheart Tigerheart, now known as Tigerstar, is a fictional character created by Erin Hunter for the book series named Warrior Cats. He became more important to the plot after gaining his own book, Tigerheart's Shadow. He was one of the cats to have worked as a spy on the Dark Forest. Now he currently is the more.

People hate him but he's amazing!

The Contenders

I really didn't get why Brambleclaw/star was so mad at her!

He was mad because he raised these kits with her thinking they were his when she never told him herself

She's a good cat. All she did was help out her sister

She was trying to do the right thing, though she caused a lot of pain...

She's not misunderstood. She's a good cat

Tigerstar Tigerstar is a villain in the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. Son of Leopardfoot and Pinestar, former mate of Goldenflower and Sasha, and father of Bramblestar, Tawnypelt, Mothwing, Hawkfrost, and Tadpole. This brown tabby cat almost causes the downfall of the clans. But is killed, firstly by Scourge, more.

Sure, I mean he turned out evil in the end. Everyone hates him for it. But, did it occur to anyone that it wasn't entirely his fault.

1. His father abandoned him to become a kittypet.

2. Everyone taunted him about how Pinestar turned kittypet, so he wanted to prove himself.

3. He was mentored by the purely evil Thistleclaw, who clearly rubbed off on him.

4. Sure, he was ambitious, but he wanted to do what he thought was right for the clan.

5. He was really sad, when his two sisters died.

Tigerstar IS evil, yes, but not as evil as people think. When he was a kit, a Shadowclan patrol saved him from a fox, so he said that one day he would help Shadowclan. He had at least a little but of a right to kill Redtail, because he saved Redtail from a hawk and Redtail said he owed his life to Tigerstar (read Redtail's Debt). I'm not saying he isn't evil, but he doesn't deserve all of what people say about him.

Okay, he's evil, I get that. But don't you think it's just because somebody trained him wrong? Because someone stepped all over him as a kit? Maybe they should have a special edition about Tigerstar.

He really did like bluestar. Fair enough to hate Fireheart/star though. I hate thistleclaw for turning him bad. He would have been attractive if he was good

I hate how people judge him at say, "OH MY GREAT GOOGLY GOSH! HE KILLED MOONFLOWER I HATE HIM SO MUCH POOR MOONFLOWER! " She was destroying his herbs-the herbs that would cure his Clan if they should get sick. Without them, his Clan could die. Moonflower didn't deserve to die, but I don't blame Hawkheart for killing her. - RedTheGremlin

Yes that's what I say to the peeps out there too. The haters for Hawkheart are the misunderstanding! - BloodFang

Herbs are essential for the being of the clan and it can take a while to refill a whole stack. Without herbs clan cats could die. Hawkheart is a medicine cat. He only has basic fighting skills and thought he could have tried to put up a fight to Moonflower, he would have likely lost the fight. He couldn't do anything to stop her other than killing her.

Everyone cats Hawkheart for killing Moonflower when he was just defending his clan. If Moonflower did destroy his herb supplies his whole CLAN would have died from it. - MoonShine00

Hawkheart may have killed Moonflower but he's not a bad cat. He killed her to protect his herbs because Windclan needed them. He's very nice to Yellowfang in Yellowfang's Secret. He's overall a good cat who is loyal to his clan.

Spottedleaf Spottedleaf is a tortoiseshell she-cat in the series "Warrior Cats" by Erin Hunter. She first appears in book 1, Into The Wild.

She IS misunderstood! WHY do people hate her? What has she done wrong? I dislike the ship SpottedXFire but that does not mean Spottedleaf has killed any cats and she's never done ANYTHING bad. why all the hate?

Spottedleaf is awesome! Not misunderstood

I don't think she is misunderstanding stood! she is my favorite medicine cat!

I love her- but I don't think she's misunderstood- no offense

Jayfeather Jayfeather is a character in the Warrior Cats series. He is part of The Three, along with Lionblaze and Dovewing, and has the power to read other cats' minds and walk into other cats dreams. He is blind.

Sure, he was very grumpy, but that was because he is blind and didn't want to be a medicine cat in the first place

Almost everyone, including me, likes him...why is he in the top 10?

He's not a brat, he's just struggling. -Bright Guardian Akira

I hate him. I don't find his comments unny but downright rude.

Silverstream SIlverstream is a character created by Erin Hunter to the book series named Warrior Cats. she is a sleek, silver tabby she-cat with delicate silver markings and bright blue eyes. She's the daughter of Crookedstar and Willowbreeze, former mate of Graystripe and mother of Feathertail and Stormfur. She more.

I love Silverstream! She had such a strong heart and loved Graystripe! I feel like she was misunderstood because she loved a cat from another clan, but you can’t help who love, for sure.

Don't see how she's misunderstood

Shouldn’t even be a cat

Brokenstar Brokenstar is a villain character from the Warrior Cats series. He is a dark brown tabby tom with a bent tail and orange eyes. Brokenstar was a former Shadowclan leader and a member of the Dark Forest. His mother is Yellowfang and his father is Raggedstar.

He was bullied, but he killed so many cats when he was alive. Yellowfang should of been there to help him or even comfort him. Yellowfang should of spoken the truth about her kit, not keep it a secret. Now she just threatened her, or killed her entire clan from not caring for her kit.

Haha yeah...NO not funny. Even though Yellowfang tried to befriend him when he was a lonely kit he was arrogant and power-hungry. What's there to misunderstand? - Blossomfrost

He was power-hungry and arrogant because Yellowfang rejected him, and she knows that. That is the misunderstanding - BloodFang

He was bullied. - Pebblepaw

Haha very funny. Haha not.

Everyone hates her for having kits but everyone loves ferncloud for having kits - Puppytart

I love her but she had a life of tragedy.

Her life was so sad

Me too. I love her so much.

I have to say, when I first read Crookedstar's Promise, I despised her with all my heart. But after watching a theory by Bright Guardian Akira on her reasons for her negligence, which actually makes A LOT of sense, I have slightly changed my mind. In fact, I think she is a very interesting character, she has a lack of background being shown, yet she manages to make us feel like she has lots of character development, even if it makes us hate her. And my heart softened just a bit more when I spent more time thinking about how she is the grandmother of Silverstream, and the great grandmother of Feathertail, two of my favorite characters, and they look a lot like Rainflower also. I also never saw her as an terrible abuser, I think negligence and abuse are two often different things, which is just the case for her. She did not verbally or physically abuse him, it was the lack of interaction between Rainflower and Crookedkit that led to emotional abuse.

She isn't misunderstood. At all. She is ignorant and selfish, only caring for Oakkit/Oakpaw/Oakheart, and ignoring Crokedkit/paw/jaw/star. Crookedkit felt useless and dumb, and Rainflower does not deserve to be forgiven. No mother should directly reject her kits like that. And how come she got to go to StarClan while Mapleshade, one of the best warriors, has to get exiled and go to the Dark Forest?

This one I have to disagree. She started to hate her own son because he slipped and broke his jaw. Which made him mess up his face, but I wouldn't hate my son if he broke his face! She loved Oakheart more than Crookedstar. I screamed "YES! " when she died.

I also hate Rainflower, but it is, unfortunately, a fact that a mother cat will abandon her kitten if she feels that he/she will not survive.

She is a super snob who gets offended by everything. I am NOT A HATER and she used to be one of my fave characters until she got offended by everything fireheart did. She acted like a spoiled teen who wanted a rich boyfriend. She's not even a good example. Cinderpelt really loved fireheart. Here's the reason why I say this: Cinderpelt always trusted fireheart, even more than bluestar. Who did she tell her prophecies to? Fireheart. Who did she run to for help? Fireheart. How did sandstorm treat fireheart? " I thought I was your friend! " Boohoo hop I just don't feel bad for her she's not misunderstood she's completely spoiled

Why is she misunderstood? Nothing is wrong with her or her life. She's a great cat

Exactly sandstorm and firestar had development while firestar and spotted leaf only new each other for a moon (while still being alive)

She's misunderstood because she's a little snobby

I actually feel kind of bad for Breezepelt. I know, Stupid Crowfeather, that you love Leafpool, and not Nightcloud, but she certainly loves you, so don't take it out on poor Breezepelt. Sure, he lived a sheltered life, and it could have been so much better if Crowfeather hadn't ruined it.

It was sooo hard to pick a cat from this list between Thistleclaw, Crowfeather, Ivypool, Goosefeather, and Clear Sky. But I finally have to choose Breezepelt. I admit that I'm not fully caught up with the last books from Vision of Shadows so there might be something that he does that will make me feel differently, but after reading Crowfeather's Trial, I grew a knew understanding of the cat I used to hate. Cause he does bad stuff and all but he only does that stuff because of his messed up parental situation. He feels rejected by his father and he feels jealous of Jayfeather and Lionblaze for getting more attention from Crowfeather. This is why I think Breezepelt is the most misunderstood cat.

Why does everyone hate on him? That's my question. He was never evil, he was blamed for everything. He just wanted attention, and his father to approve of him, but Crowfeather was to scared of failing them, so he pretended he and his mother never existed. He only attacked Jayfeather because he wanted some attention, people may see him as attention seeking, but he was broken.

He is so misunderstood stood! His parents never really loved each other and his dad didn't give him the time of day! I think he should be much higher on this list!

There's practically nothing about to him to even firm an opinion about whether you like him or not...why is he here? - Blossomfrost

We barely knew him but he's the best

She's one of my favorite cats. She's very misunderstood. Her sister made a bigger difference than her. Ivypool felt left out

Ivypool is misunderstood! So is Dovewing! These cats need more love! Dovewing was part of the prophecy and Ivypool helped as if her life depended on it, which, IT DID!

I love her. She just didn't like the fact that her sister mattered more than her

She was misunderstood also

Hmm how exactly is he not understood...I don't see it - Blossomfrost

Ugh. I would rather have Mudstar than stupid, stinky, rude, snobby, snooty, arrogant, stupid-named Onestar. - RedTheGremlin

He thought he was acting on the will of starclan, I mean try to put yourself in his shoes..Paws... You are deputy and your leader dies, you think you are in charge now, then some warrior says that there the clan leader when you're deputy! Onewhisker couldn't prove to him that Tallstar said you will become leader. Neither Brambleclaw or Firestar. I'm glad he's in starclan, honestly.
