Top 10 Nintendo Consoles/Handhelds You'd Most Like to Rate

Nintendo has made about a dozen consoles since the original Famicom in 1983 each one focusing on innovation and being fun for all. Some are better than others. At their best Nintendo’s consoles have had a major impact on our culture and at worse it’s a massive failure
The Top Ten
1 Nintendo Switch

I have one myself and it's amazing. I love to play games like Minecraft, super Mario Odyssey, and of course legend of Zelda breath of the wild. These are only a few of the best games on the console, and the thing itself is just a masterpiece

After the catastrophic disaster that was the Wii U Nintendo needed redemption. The Switch did exactly that and then some. A handheld/Console hybrid is one of the most genius ideas ever and it works. The Joy cons are a technical marvel despite relatively small size. The games are absolutely phenomenal. A lot of the best Wii U games have similar versions on the system. It’s widespread appeal will ensure it stays popular for years to come it also has some of the best games ever. Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Smash Bros Ultimate Animal Crossing New Horizons and much more. Quite honestly the Switch set the bar pretty high with very minimal flaws 10/10

7/10 I honestly don't think it's that good. Yeah I love the concept and at first sight it's amazing but most of its games are not only over-expensive, but they're not even that great. Yoshi's Crafted World, Mario Tennis Aces, Super Mario Party and Luigi's Mansion 3 are all examples of this. Plus the infamous joy-con drift and online support. However it's still good for the controllers and setup, plus it has some amazing games like Super Mario Odyssey or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so it's not bad.

10/10 just as good, if not better than the Wii, the idea of having a console and a handheld at the same time was executed in perfectly.

2 Nintendo 3DS

the 3DS looks just like it’s DS Counterpart but it adds the 3D and a circle pad despite a rocky start Nintendo turned things around and saved the sinking ship. The 3DS had an impressive lineup of games over its lifetime. And really raised the bar for handheld systems. The 3DS picked off right where the DS left off and never looked back. Add the virtual console/ eshop to an already expansive library and you’ll have a lot to work with this is definitely worth your while. This system is home to Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Legend of Zelda a link between worlds, Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Smash Bros and so much more. I honestly recommend this system easily 9/10

10/10 Might actually be my favourite console of all time. It's the DS but improved on every single way, with better graphics, a circle pad, and more games, plus the backwards compability. Being a childhood console, it's no surprise.

3 Nintendo DS

The DS is like the Wii of handhelds it revolutionized handheld gaming. It allows for 3D games and touchscreen. But what truly makes this system stand out is the duel screens providing for unique gameplay experiences and this is home to Phoenix Wright, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and more. The Original was a bit bulky but the DS Lite and DSi were both very solid 8.5/10

8/10 It's a slightly weaker 3DS but it's more revolutionary. However the lack of a circle pad..., just why Nintendo.

4 Nintendo Wii

I know people will dismiss it because it’s a Wii but it’s honestly one of the most uniquely different Nintendo consoles. Obviously this was a transition to focus on more casual audiences and it has a TON of shovel ware. But it introduced the Virtual Console and backward compatibility with GameCube Games. The Wii wasn’t the best with forced motion controls but it made up for it with some pretty good games like Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles. Overall this is either a console you love or hate but you have to respect this was a pretty successful console 8/10

8/10 This was my first one. Amazing games, virtual console, unique controller..., so nostalgic. But the motion controls..., they're a bit annoying

5 Nintendo Gamecube

The GameCube kinda picked up where the N64 left off improving the graphics of its predecessor. Unfortunately it was a bit of a flop but generally still memorable and beloved by those who bought it. The GameCube really had a unique and memorable library including Double Dash, Luigi’s Mansion, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and so much more. Really an interesting console 8/10

10/10 Probably my second favourite console of all time. Not only has a great library of games, but a UNIQUE one. And who doesn't love the controller?

8/10 the controls were a bit awkward, but lots of fun games such as Super Mario Sunshine and Pikmin.

6 Nintendo Entertainment System

7/10 Saved the video game crash but other than that..., is it really that great?

While it’s a little bulky and outdated today you have to give it credit this was Nintendo’s first attempt in the home console market and it was a success. We got a whopping four Mario games, the first entries in the Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and Punch-Out!
Not the greatest console of all time by today’s standards but you can’t deny the impact it had on establishing Nintendo as a video game company. Even with the NES Mini now it’s clear that people still love this console 7.5/10

7 Nintendo 64

The N64 while a bit dated compared to a lot of other consoles you can’t deny the impact it had on the gaming industry. It brought games into 3D with the likes of Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and Ocarina of Time, meanwhile it introduced plenty of new staples like Banjo Kazooie Smash Bros and Mario Party. On top of that it brought multiplayer to a whole new level. Especially with Mario Kart and Mario Party being some of the highlights in their respective series. Obviously the graphics and controls aren’t the greatest but for what impact it had it’s a 7.5/10

7/10 It revolutionized 3D as we know today. I mean the games don't look good, at all but the games are still great.

8 Super Nintendo Entertainment System

The SNES is what truly solidified Nintendo as a powerhouse in the video game market. It was an improvement on the NES in almost every way. With a lineup including the likes of Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart Super Metroid, Legend of Zelda a link to the past Yoshis Island Star Fox F Zero and more. While a bit dated it was a milestone accomplishment for Nintendo that has overall stood the test of time. Most of its games are still iconic to this day.
7.5/10

10/10 The SNES in my opinion is the king of graphics. It's not too simple, but it's not too overly detailed either, making for the best 2D platformers. Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World, enough said.

9 Nintendo Gameboy

The Original GameBoy was the first dip into the handheld market and it beat out the competition by a considerable margin. While it’s later counterparts are arguably better this is what started it all basically it’s the NES of the handheld systems. And it introduced Pokémon and generally had some good yet underrated games.
7/10

10 Wii U

While the Wii was very successful the Wii U was not. It turned out like The Second coming of the virtual boy in retrospect but it did have an impressive lineup including the likes of Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Splatoon, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker, Super Smash Bros., Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, ZombiU, and The Wonderful 101. During its lifespan while that is a solid lineup most of those have similar versions on the 3DS and have been ported to the Switch. The GamePad was also pretty lackluster and didn’t live up to its hype. The system was kinda doomed from the start with poor advertising and lack of good third party support was a key factor in its failure honesty though it isn’t entirely bad. The execution was just bad. 6/10

9/10 A bit inmemorable and clunky with the gamepad, but I mean it's essentially the Wii but with bonus content. So, it's objectively better technically. There aren't that many games but the ones that exist are great, especially Mario Kart 8 and Yoshi's Woolly World.

5/10 it was pretty much the Wii but just with another controller. Most of the games in the Wii U library were revamps of Wii games.
