Ok, explanation:
Patrick: Just see some of the episodes. He seems more obsessed with Mr. SquarePants than SpongeBob is with Patrick. Patrick is only friends with SpongeBob and only hangs out with Sandy when SpongeBob is around. He just wants to be around SpongeBob all the time. If he can't, he gets sad, like the episode where Patrick went to SpongeBob's boating class. Speaking of which, he seemed to seek attention from just him during that episode.
Patrick: SpongeBob, over here. I need to tell you something. Something important.
SpongeBob: What?
Patrick: Hi.
SpongeBob: Hi?
SpongeBob: SpongeBob is exactly like how Patrick acts with Squidward. Patrick, at times, might not be as dumb as he acts. He could've picked SpongeBob's obsession with Squidward for his own and tried to put it on SpongeBob to see if he would catch on. The only problem was SpongeBob is obsessed with Squidward, so never mind, Patrick is just dumb.
Every time SpongeBob sees Squiddy, he can't stop talking to him. Even when he's with Patrick, he wants to see him. When SpongeBob won the snail racing trophy, he gave it not to his best friend Patrick, who was also in the race and really wanted to win, but to Squidward. It didn't really seem like SpongeBob was upset with Squidward when he pranked him. He seemed first on SpongeBob's list to go see. One time, he wanted to hang out with Squidward because it was a certain day, but Squidward was so used to SpongeBob's actions that he had notes up for his response already.

True love right here on Mr. SquarePants's side. He believes in and trusts Squidward so much, and it seems Squidward wants people to see his talent, which only SpongeBob sees and helps him show. Sadly, most of the time SpongeBob annoys him to no end.
SpongeBob always tries to find Squidward and tries to help him with love. I know Squidward doesn't want to admit it, but I know deep inside me he loves SpongeBob so much.
One and only true pairing.
