Biggest Mary Sues of the Warrior Cat Universe

I'm sure we've all thought at least one character in the Warriors universe was a Mary Sue. In case you don't know, a Mary Sue (or Gary Stu, for male characters) is a character in the story that angsts about everything, is utterly perfect, and imbalanced compared to ther other characters. If you would like a more in-depth explanation, Google it.

Now, a Mary Sue (or heck, even Kitty Sue) is NOT just a character you don't like. Don't put characters up here unless you truly think they're unbalanced and either too generic/predictable or too overpowered. OCs will not be allowed. Feel free to put in plenty of cats, but I wouldn't recommend trying with the less well-known ones (such as cats in Codes of the Clans), as those are likely to just collect dust at the bottom of the list. Finally, please don't vote on a cat just because you think they shouldn't be called a Mary Sue. I may be new to this website and all, but I know that upvoting your favorite character to be recognized as an unbalanced one wouldn't be among the best of ideas.

Now, let the Listing Games begin, and may the odds be ever in the favor of your submitted cat!

The Top Ten
  1. Dovewing

Dovewing is a character in the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. She has pale gray fur and is described as having green, sky-blue, or pale gold eyes. Her first appearance is in the fourth arc, known as Omen of the Stars, in the book The Fourth Apprentice.... read more

I originally hated dovewing as a younger kid, but after growing up a bit I definitely don't hate her, but she is still definetly a marysue, I think her actions on most things are her trying her best, but the authors could have definetly given her more flaws, like tell me ONE flaw she has, tell me. Oh you CANT, because she doesn't have any other than like, trying to hard? im still pretty mad about her abandoning Thunderclan to go live in Shadowclan just because she was pregnant, which is her fault, but I still think her family would have still supported and loved her if she stayed in Thunderclan and told the truth, I don't like fr relationship with tigerheart, and I don't like her relationship with Bumblestripe, it think she's a jerk for playing with his feelings, and all. By she deserves this list.

  2. Firestar

Firestar is a central character in the Warrior Cats series. He rises to become the leader of ThunderClan after Bluestar. Firestar is mates with Sandstorm and has two kits named Squirrelflight and Leafpool.

Originally, Firestar was a kittypet named Rusty before joining the clan. He dies from fatal... read more

Why is he apart of every prophecy? The whole five cats from each clan thing, he wasn't apart of. Blood will spill Blood, that was an OMEN, it didn't really make anything bigger. Even the power of three, it was HIS kin. I liked Firestar, but he should've just been the greatly remembered leader if not a little less. He did a lot of things, so he had his spotlight. Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf should've just had the spotlight. Then Dovewing replaces Hollyleaf, and above all, his final act of heroism took the place of someone like Ivypool or (FINALLY) Hollyleaf.

His character was stretched too much. He should've just been the cat to face Tigerstar, like he sorta hoped in Darkest Hour.

  3. Spottedleaf

Spottedleaf was a medicine cat under Bluestar's leadership in the forest territories. She was born as Spottedkit to Adderfang and Swiftbreeze along with her littermates, Redkit and Willowkit. Initially, Spottedpaw was apprenticed to Thrushpelt but decided to become a medicine cat with Featherwhisker... read more

She's pretty, she's sweet, and she's young, she also dies in book one. Then flies around in starclan simping over Firestar even when he has a wife and children. Then dies saving sandstorm, oh did I also mention she smells good?

Spottedleaf is so annoying. She has practically no flaws, she's pretty, polite, perfect, has all her herbs memorized and has a deep connection with star clan like a good little medicine cat should. Boring! I like Sandstorm much better. She does have a lot of good qualities like being one of the best hunters in the clan but she has negative qualities to balance in out like being headstrong and unwilling to accept help. She's a bully at first but when Fireheart saves her, her gratitude starts blossoming into affection, but she's still hesitant to change completely, giving them much more time to bond as friends, and more time for Fireheart to realize he loves her, strengthening their relationship once it begins. It's a way more realistic and enjoyable process than love at first sight which is solely based on looks, and what Firepaw and Spottedleaf had.

  4. Jessy

Jessie is a plot device. She is a clone of younger Squirrelflight, and her only defining traits include, sucking up to brambleclawr, being an amazing hunter (despite being a kittypet), being sassy bold and amazing, being pretty and beautiful. In Bramblestar's storm she simply was used to be a crush for Brambleclaw and by the end remind him that he is still in love with Squirrelflight, I get why Bramblestar likes er she is Squirrelflight2.0 and I personally think from his thoughts across Bramblestars storm, like missing what things where like when he was younger with Squirrelflight, and when they had their kits, or what he thought where his kits, that her point is to remind Bramblestar aswell that he needs to grow up and face reality tht things won't ever quite be like that again, and alot is different, but he needs to be the leader Thunderclan needs, and also realize that he's had Squirrelflight by his side almost his whole life, and he couldn't quite live without her. Jessy definetly serves a use, and she's nothing more than that use. She's never going to appear again, and she's simply only a plot device.

  5. Millie

Millie is a character in the Warriors book series. She was originally a kittypet who became close to Graystripe, a ThunderClan warrior captured by Twolegs. She accompanied him on his journey back to the Clan, eventually became his mate, and is the mother of Bumblestripe, Blossomfall, and Briarlight.

Millie isn't a sue in the slightest. She looked nothing like Silverstream, and had to work so hard to get into Thunderclan with Graystripe. He only chose her because Graystripe truely loved her like he did Silverstream. She helped Graystripe, yet didn't always succeed. She was hurt, and I think blinded by getting hit with briars or brambles before arriving in the loner barn with those who helped her and such. Plus, Millie was the one to stand up to the dogs, and knew how to deal with them, but she also has some flaws to pull her weight with her good traits. In my opinion, Graystripe had many reasons to fall in love with her. Millie saved his life on multiple occasions, encouraged him, helped him, and made sure he kept his sanity. She was kind, but also clumsy, and couldn't exactly get hunting or fighting on the first try. Not at all.

  6. Lionblaze

Lionblaze is a character in the Warrior Cats series. He is part of The Three, along with Jayfeather and Dovewing, and possesses the power of being undefeated in battle. However, he loses this power after the Clans are saved from the Dark Forest.... read more

He's amazing at everything, perfect fighter, one shots foxes, buff, Blah-blah, honestly he's a by boring, his only flaw is being battle-hungry, so hey guess he's perfect for Cinderheart. When I read his pov chapters I was so bored.

Here ladies and gentlemen is the BIGGEST Mary Sue in Warriors, Lionblaze! He is literally invincible! When he was just a kit he bet a fox. A fox! He's just a kit and he a fox that's bigger than him and could kill him easily! Thank you Warriors you have won an award for making a canon sue. He can win any fight but lost only once because he wanted to show Cinderheart he could control his powers. He even bet Tigerstar like What the heck! He was still young too and look at Tigerstar. Tigerstar is a senior warrior who is really strong and is still training in Dark Forest. Now he's another reason he's a sue, almost everyone loves him expect for a few. Cinderheart and Heathertail like him! I absolute hate him. I hope they make another book in Warriors where he actually loses a battle not on purpose either.

  7. Silverstream

Silverstream is a character created by Erin Hunter for the book series Warrior Cats. She is a sleek, soft-furred, slender silver-and-black tabby she-cat with a finely shaped head and bright blue eyes. She is the daughter of Crookedstar and Willowbreeze, the former mate of Graystripe, and mother of Feathertail... read more

How the hell is Silverstream in this list? Sure, she's pretty and nice and saves Graystripe, but let's list out her flaws:

    - She's pretty annoyed easily

    - She's a brat

    - She doesn't really respect people

So yeah, those are some pretty crappy flaws already. And I personally like Silverstream more than Millie. To be honest, I feel like Silverstream saves Graystripe just so it wasn't a hassle if someone spotted her ignoring a drowning cat who didn't know how to swim. Plus, it was leaf-bare. Then I would say that she probably hated Graystripe at first, but then Graystripe possibly pressured her into a relationship, which ended with her dying by bleeding to death.

  8. Squirrelflight

Squirrelflight is a dark ginger she-cat with forest-green eyes. She has one white paw, short legs, a torn ear tip, glossy fur, and a long, squirrel-like bushy tail. She also has a scar running from her chest to the top of her hind leg along her right flank.... read more

For all of the people that agree with Squirrelflight should be on this list, give it up. I have an argument! First of all, as an apprentice, Squirrelflight was very stubborn and may I say even a bit rude. She wasn't the most Mary-Sue cat, and it's definitely not unlikely that a young child would have that personality. Then, when she was on the Great Journey, Squirrelflight formed a close bond with Brambleclaw, which practically changed her personality. And I can relate to that, for meeting my two best friends changed mine, too. Then she had to choose between ONLY Ashfur and Brambleclaw, and she saw the SAME SENSE so may other people would see, and chose Brambleclaw, because they were so close, while Ashfur was just a close friend to Squirrelflight. Next Squirrelflight chose to help Leafpool and take in her kits, even if that meant she would one day have to BEG Ashfur to let them out of a fire, and tell him her secret. Lastly, I would like to point out Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight's love was practically love at first sight, WAY before Brambleclaw was even DEPUTY.

Squirrelflight is not a Mary Sue. I REST MY CASE.

  9. Feathertail

Feathertail is a fictional character from Erin Hunter's Warrior Cats book series. She is described as a slender silver-tabby she-cat with sky-blue eyes and a plump tail. She is the daughter of Silverstream and Graystripe, the sister of Stormfur, and the first love interest of Crowfeather.... read more

Well, there is a steep hill argumement on if she's a mary sue or not. I think she is. She's described as kind, pretty, gentle, a weakling, and looks a lot like her mother, who could have easily been described as the prettiest she in the clan. She attempted a forbidden relationship, while knowing her mother died from a forbidden relationship. Ignoring tradgedy in favor of instinct is pretty stupid for such a loyal clan cat, and it doesn't make since either. She was always so nice, but then argues when Stormfur and kills Sharptooth. Logic? I agree that she's a stereotypical girl from the 40's.

I can sorta agree with this. I've never really thought she was a Mary-Sue, but I don't like her. I've always favored Stormfur. I hated how she would argue with Stormfur when the sweet lil bean Storm was just trying to protect her and help her not beak the warrior cat's code. I felt betrayed by the author(s? ) of the series when they made Feathertail all of a sudden the new main cat of the prophecy.

  10. Tigerheart

Tigerheart, now known as Tigerstar, is a fictional character created by Erin Hunter for the book series Warrior Cats. He gained prominence after the release of Tigerheart's Shadow, a book centered around his character. He served as a spy on the Dark Forest.... read more

I'm sorry. Don't they mean Tigerstar number 2? Just saying. Tigerstar 1 died by Scourge so this is TIGERSTAR 2. Can people just stop using tiger for once so that we don't have a tigerstar 3? Omg. Tigerstars and Tigerstars and what about Bramblestar? Can't you use something similar to tiger instead of tiger for once?

Ugh he abounded his clan when they needed him the most and returned when it suited him, and his mate dovewing is a Big marry sue One time she said ivypool was jealous of her and she quats "no wonder hollyleaf isn't part of the prophecy she killied a cat! "

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Moonpaw (Changing Skies)

She has a unique appearance that apparently nobody else has had, has ear tufts shaped like crescent moons, her face looks like a halfmoon, is honestly spoiled by her parents- which may explain partially why Morningkit resents her- and is overall annoying.

  13. ?

    Reedshine

I will say this, im not sure if she knew Appledusk had cheated on mapleshade with her, but to gon like nothing happened after that is pretty terrible, her only character traits are being funny, sweet, and oh being pregnant.

So annoying and ditzy in my opinion. such a mary sue, but I don't wish she didn't exits becasue then there would be no Crookedstar or Oakheart

People put her here because they don't like her.

  14. The Contenders
  15. Leafpool

Leafpool is a character in the Warrior Cats series. She is the daughter of Firestar and Sandstorm, sister of Squirrelflight, mate of Crowfeather, and mother of Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf. Leafpool serves as a medicine cat and plays a key role in many of the series' storylines.

She's not as much of a marysue as the other characters on this list but come on. She's a bit of one. I will admit Atleast she accepts rr actions and feels genuinely bad about what she did, and she also has a personality unlike some (cough) characters, but one of her only defining traitais having a strong connection to Starclan, and being good at herbs. Which is almost every medicine cat. And her romance with Crowfeather is just... unnecessary but hey, im not the author.

Seriously? How did this get up here? Okay, I admit that you can see Leafpool as a Mary Sue for being a medicine cat, having forbidden love, and way more reasons, but SERIOUSLY? I love Leafpool (though I have to admit I like Squirrelflight better). Though that's just my opinion and I am aware that most people with common sense would hate me for defending someone just because I like them. You might think that forbidden romance is overrated and stuff, but then, Warriors is full of forbidden loves that I'm curious why you're reading it at all. I know that she is peaceful, blames herself for the death of her mentor, and etc. I don't know why people don't like that. I mean, it might be overrated, there are a lot of peaceful cats and cats that blame themselves for the death of other cats, but just imagine what would happen if Leafpool was really war frenzy (which some of you will call overrated, again, and just simply hate her), and she just blamed Cinderpelt herself, or Sorreltail, maybe and think that she was still an awesome apprentice to Cinderpelt. I have a feeling that she will be your new least favorite character if that happened. Again, I am very fond of Leafpool, so my words might not be that... trustworthy.

  16. Onestar

Onestar is a fictional character from the Warriors book series by Erin Hunter. He was a leader of WindClan and was previously known as Onewhisker before becoming leader. Onestar is described as a small, mottled brown tomcat who is deeply devoted to WindClan.

I don't have much to say. I think Onestar sucks. I have a feeling people are misunderstanding what Mary Sue really means. If you don't like the character (if you don't, me too), it doesn't always mean that they're a Mary Sue (I am so tired of typing every possible thing someone might call a Mary Sue I'm just going to use 'Mary Sue'). It means that a character is too perfect (ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE), they're good at everything, etc. It doesn't always mean they're a brat. Again, I think Onestar sucks. Though, that's just my opinion.

Since when does anyone think Onestar is a Gary Stu? He's a total jerk to ThunderClan after he becomes leader, he took a kittypet as a mate and subsequently ended up with DARKTAIL as his son, and he hid this from the other Clans, instead closing WindClan's borders and endangering everyone. You call that perfect? I won't deny that he's annoying but he's certainly no Gary Stu!

  17. Brook Where Small Fish Swim

Oh what to say about her. The thing about Brok is she dosent appear alot, and when she dose she is simply in love with Stormfur, an amazing hunter, or just pretty. She has absolutely no personality, she's nice? Loyalish? The only thing unique about her really is only being a tribe-cat. Definitely marysue material, I wouldn't say she is quite as much of one but I'd categorize her as one. Just not as big of one, because there is much bigger marysues

Once again, a cat added because someone didn't like her, not because she's a Mary Sue.

  18. Star Flower

Oh god, what to say. Uhm every single thing about her is marysue. I'll give her this, unlike some other Mary sues she has flaws and a personality, the thing is Absolutely everyone loves her. I also feel likes she's such wasted potential, I would've liked things to go differently and she is using thunder, but because she's loyal to her fatter, ten afrr dieing she wants to avenge him, so she infiltrates the clans and kills Clear sky and Thunder. Or atleast attempts to. She had such a good set-up to be an interesting villain, because Warrior cats had NO female villains other than maple shade who we barely see anything of.

Yeah, no, total Mary Sue. Her "loyalty" is all over the place, and she plays with the emotions with pretty much all the toms ever. I mean, really? And she puts on the water-works when her father is murdered, but then becomes mates with one of the cats who wanted him dead? I want to trust her now that she is Clear Sky's loving mate, but I can't: she's always seemed just naturally evil. She's manipulative, secretive, and treats toms like objects.

  19. Ivypool

Ivypool is a fictional silver-and-white tabby she-cat in Erin Hunter's Warrior Cats book series. She is the sister of Dovewing and the daughter of Whitewing and Birchfall. Ivypool becomes a spy in the Dark Forest and later returns to ThunderClan, eventually serving as deputy under Squirrelstar. Her mate... read more

People forget that she was totally jealous of her sister to the point where she wanted to kill her. She literally abused the trust when Firestar formed a battle JUST for her because of her stupid "dreams." Just like that, Russetfur lost her life and Firestar lost one of his.

People are just being sympathetic to her because her daughter died. Now tell me, why should she become deputy because of that? I know people are going to argue that she is "suitable" for the role of deputy, but think about it: if you're talking about being a better clanmate, you could say Twigbranch, you could say Cinderheart, you could literally say any cat.

  20. Jayfeather

Jayfeather is a character from the Warrior Cats series. He is part of the prophecy group known as The Three, along with Lionblaze and Dovewing, and possesses the ability to read other cats' minds, sense emotions, and enter their dreams. He was born blind, which shapes much of his perspective and role... read more

    Spoiler warning. =/

I don't exactly hate him but I don't like him either. I don't notice many things actually bad happening to him! Even if he has powers to know what others are thinking, and look into other cat's dreams, he's still blind. He fell in a hole once. ONCE people. He is BLIND for corns sake. I realize that he is actually trying to not fall in things and trip over things, but seriously. Around 99% of the time he is perfect, and the 1% is when he threw the stupid stick in the lake and almost got Firestar drowned. Even when Flametail drowned, he didn't act like anything wrong had happened and he went back to his normal perfect life. Mary. Sue.

  21. Brightheart

Brightheart is a character in the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. She is a white she-cat with ginger patches who suffered serious injuries during a dog attack while she was still an apprentice. Brightheart later became mates with Cloudtail, and they had four kits: Whitewing, Ambermoon, Dewnose, and Snowbush... read more

I say she is a Mary-Sue because everyone took their rime out to stay with her, but what about Cinderpelt? Only Yellowfang took time out of her last days to help her. I was also alright with Lostface, because what about Stormkit? He had an accident and now he is Crookedkit. Guess how many fans cared? Like, none. Sparrowpelt too? He lost half his tail. White-eye is dragged into this Name-change too. Hopkit becomes Deadpaw. And Dashpaw? Oh I didn't forget you. Now, you are Maggottail. This is one of the most hated Warrior Cat names! White-eye lost her eye, but does the fans care about her new name, One-eye? No? Well does this story sound familiar? Of course, Brightheart! You only cared about beauty. Crookedkit's mother abandon him!

  22. Goldenflower

Goldenflower has her own fair share of flaws, who ever wrote this can't see that.

Pluse she is one of the only peple who has reason behind hateing her (former) mate.

    Honestly, why, just why?

I honestly have zero idea how Goldenflower got here. Like what? I'm actually confused

  23. Scourge

Scourge is a villain in the Warrior Cats series. He is the leader of BloodClan and was bullied by his siblings, Socks and Ruby, for being the smallest of the litter. One of his most notable features is his purple collar studded with dog and cat teeth.... read more

Scourge is over powered. That's all I'm going to say. He had a terrible upbringing, got very strong and powerful, (although he's JUST bigger than an apprentice.), almost took over the forest with a random clan he formed out of the blue from loners with little to no fighting experience, took out two leaders, both being almost twice his sized, and got killed by the second one after killing him the first time. He always got what he want because people feared him, and then was just randomly killed out of the blue.

    1. Sappy Backstory

    2. Becomes really strong when he was very weak.

    3. Had no real training

    4. Formed a clan from nowhere out of untrained loners.

    5. Somehow almost dominates the forest

    6. Takes out two leaders

    7. Gets killed.

That chain of events doesn't make since.

  24. Bramblestar

Bramblestar is the leader of ThunderClan in the Warriors book series. His mate is Squirrelflight, and their kits are Dandelionkit, Juniperkit, Sparkpelt, and Alderheart. He is the son of Goldenflower and Tigerstar, and his sister is Tawnypelt.... read more

    WHAT?!

Is a Gary-Stu tempted to kill his own leader?

Does a Gary-Stu argue CONSTANTLY with his mate?

    NOPE.

And his closest friends are pretty much either gone or distant.

Ashfur? He backstabbed him, and then he got killed.

    Feathertail? Dead.

    Stormfur? With the Tribe.

Jessy? Who knows where she went?

Crowfeather? Well...we all know what Crowfeather can be like...

    Tawnypelt? Loyal to ShadowClan.

Squirrelflight is the only one that's still around.

He doesn't even have hardly any close friends! In my opinion he's not even that good of a leader, with the exception of Bramblestar's Storm he was much better as a warrior and a deputy then he ever was and ever will be as a leader!

  25. Whitestorm

Whitestorm is a fictional character in the Warriors novel series by Erin Hunter. He is a long-haired, sturdy white tom with green eyes, known for his loyalty, wisdom, and calm demeanor.

A senior warrior of ThunderClan, Whitestorm mentored many young apprentices and was respected for his courage... read more

What did poor, innocent WHITESTORM do to get up here? He's such a great cat! If Bluestar knew that someone said this, she would call their ears off.

Why is he on here. Just because he's the kit of Snowfur and Thistleclaw doesn't mean he's a Gary stu.

Seriously so he was deputy so what he was wise so what that makes him a stu!? one of my favorite characters

heres some reasons why he is an anti stu

his mother dies when he is a kit!?

his father is the one who makes tigerstar evil

he dies like a day or two after he was made deputy for crying ou loud

    signed moonstorm of nightclan

  26. Gleamstar

    Yes, it's Stargleam!

May be a Mary Sue, but when I rewrote her story (changed her name, changed title) I kinda grew attached to her.

In the original...she was kinda bad, and I found myself liking Jazzpaw WAY more.

But, lesson learned: redo a character, love the character.

All right first of all... HER WARRIOR NAME WAS STARGLEAM, she was revived by starclan TWICE. she was revived to give out the ten, oh no sorry, 11 commandments. she is loved by ashfur, hawkfrost, blackstar and everyone else. she chose her leader name, became leader when firestar was still alive and chose her leader name which may I add while gleamstar is a pretty name, it is her warrior name flipped. she also had a prophecy when she was born. Plus she had kits in a lesbian relationship, lot long after being against gay relationships

  27. Dappletail

The allegiance list said, "a once pretty tortouishell she-cat." ONCE pretty. ONCE. And heck, she's and elder who was so stubborn that she ate a poisened rabbit when she was told not to out of spite and died. So there. Not a mary sue.

  28. Ferncloud

She has a lot of children, her personality is being gentle and sweet and pretty the same copy and paste every she-cat becomes after having kits. She definitely loves Dustpelt, and I'll give her that, but he is her uncle and he's a lot older than her..but Thunderclan has so much incest I almost don't care.

    Total Mary-Sue. Beautiful eyes and pelt, has one of the strongest toms in the Clan, constantly getting...um...laid by Dustpelt and basically a living pregnancy machine. Before you hate me, I must remind you that I have my opinion and you have yours, and I totally respect that. I just think that she's kinda gross. She had, like, half the kits who live in StarClan. Sorry! Please don't hate me! ;-;

  29. Oakheart

Oakheart is a dark, reddish-brown tom with amber eyes. He served as deputy of RiverClan during the leadership of Hailstar and Crookedstar in the forest territories. He was born as Oakkit to Rainflower and Shellheart, alongside his brother Stormkit.... read more

Ok, I really like Oakheart, but you hate to admit, he's a bit of a Gary-Stu, just a bit though. I mean he has a few flaws, like being extremely arrogant, but everyone loves him and thinks he's sooo brave and handsome, and blah, blah, blah. So I have to agree with this one.

I do sort of see Oakheart as a bit of a Gary Stue, but I've only read about him from Bluefur(star)'s point of view. What I didn't get was his and blue's love. I mean, is it just me, or did they rush into things? How well did they even know eachother? Like, sorry if I'm wrong, but didn't they only meet (go on a proper date thingy) ONCE before Bluefur had their kits?
