YouTubers Who Fell from Grace
One moment, you’re loved by the masses, and, the next, you’re detested by themLeafy was notorious for his off-color roasting, which eventually landed him in some serious hot water. He once roasted a YouTuber named TommyNC, an autistic YouTuber who was simply trying to spread positivity. Leafy faced backlash from his peers, including H3H3 Productions.
Events seemed to attempt to shade away from controversy after uploading an apology by going after DramaAlert host Keemstar. Leaving Keemstar betrayed, people started turning away from DramaAlert and going to his channel.
Ultimately, iDubbbz sealed Leafy's fate with the most intense Content Cop to date. In it, iDubbbz accused Leafy of being a bully and being insecure about his chin.
If he responded, actually attempting to roast iDubbbz in the process. Once iDubbbz posted the Content Deputy, a reply, Leafy's coffin was sealed. He hemorrhaged subscribers, respect, and dignity. Ultimately, he abandoned his YouTube channel in 2017.
Butch Hartman was originally an American animator for Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, T.U.F.F. Puppy, and Bunsen Is a Beast. However, in 2015, he made a rather successful jump to YouTube.
Two years later, he announced the launch of a streaming service called OAXIS (Oh-Axe-Iss). Donors were originally enthusiastic about the idea, but undisclosed information about it having a heavy Christian theme turned a lot of them off. Hartman even infamously refused to accept criticism for the decision to not disclose such important information.
Then there was an unsavory comment directed towards a transgender individual, as well as a rather morbid joke about Tara Reid taking over the voice of Timmy Turner on Fairly OddParents, following the suicide death of his previous voice actress, Mary Kay Bergman.
Daniel Keem, better known by his username Keemstar, is the host of the infamous DramaAlert, a news series dedicated to YouTube drama. Keemstar has had a multitude of controversies, but the one that sticks out the most is the RuneScape pedophile mishap.
Keemstar found out that a man using RuneScape was luring kids into uncomfortable situations, and he was sentenced to 15 years in jail. Fans of Keemstar's DramaAlert later on found out that a man who looked like the pedophile, named Tony, was playing RuneScape. The fans proceeded to harass Tony, driving him to tears. It was later revealed that Tony was not the RuneScape pedophile.
Keem apologized for his inaccurate reporting and was lambasted by the YouTube community, receiving harsh criticisms from H3H3 Productions and even a Content Cop from iDubbbz.
I had left a comment on her previously on this entry. Guess I'll have to do it again:
Gamergate: a word that brings cringe to anybody remotely familiar with it.
Anita started her channel, the highly controversial Feminist Frequency, at the height of the scandal, and she did it from a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign stated that she was a pro and was going to expose how women should be given better representation in video games.
Her campaign got a lot of money, and when the final product was launched, it left many with a bad taste in their mouth.
1: Anita was not a pro. She was just a casual Mario player.
2: She simply nitpicked the dumbest of claims.
3: She seemed to pin her grievances on the *ahem* "white straight cisgender Christian male patriarchy." (God, that was painful to type…)
Even more so, she disabled likes and comments on her videos, preventing further feedback or criticism.
Anita made it all sound like she had good intentions, but now we can clearly see her for what she was: a radical third-wave feminist who wants to complain about every minor thing men do.
Also, who remembers buttgate?
The Nostalgia Critic and the rest of Channel Awesome were left suffering following the Not So Awesome documents. Sure, while the Nostalgia Critic wasn't the biggest player in the issue, he was still shown to have been an unsavory individual in the matter.
Incompetent, impatient, and utterly oblivious to cues, Doug Walker has definitely been left with a bad reputation following the documents.
SuperMarioLogan is well known for his plush toys-themed YouTube comedy channel, centering around Nintendo characters, Shrek, Woody from Toy Story, etc. However, the introduction of a controversial character, Jeffy, in 2016 has left fans split.
What pushed the split into a fall from grace was the constant onslaught of videos starring the infamous Jeffy, many of which were of poor quality. Add to this the fans' constant calls for the character to be removed being ignored and an onslaught of overly zealous Jeffy fans, and you've got a recipe for disaster.
Logan Paul will forever be synonymous with the Aokigahara Forest, an infamous suicide destination in Japan.
In 2017, Logan Paul was filming a vlog in the infamous suicide forest when he saw a body. He proceeded to point the camera towards the body a couple of times and appeared to be laughing.
Some claimed the laughing was a gut reaction, while the rest cried insensitive. Logan Paul was ultimately hit by YouTube just three days later for his unsavory actions. To this day, the majority of the public seems to have not forgiven him.
Lucas Cruikshank is one of the most famous figures on YouTube, having been the face of the most popular channel, Fred, for years. The first channel to hit 1 million subscribers, Cruikshank eventually got a Nickelodeon show, but only after three TV movies. In recent years, Cruikshank has gone on to sell the Fred channel and has gone on to disavow the character. This angered a ton of his old fans.
Honestly, how this person was ever popular in the first place baffles me.
In 2019, beauty blogger James Charles was accused of harassing a straight waiter into thinking he was gay. However, it was soon revealed that this wasn't the case, and the story was ultimately warped by other YouTubers. James Charles recovered, while the other YouTubers bled subscribers.
After Ian and Anthony stopped being in every video (and Anthony left), this channel lost a lot of fans.
The React World fiasco of 2016 still lives on in YouTube history. This year, the Fine Bros., cofounders Benny and Raffi Fine, attempted to "license out their formula for reaction videos." However, a hellstorm began when various reaction videos began to get taken down.
Rumors spread around the water cooler that the Fine Brothers were attempting to trademark the word "react," sending their channel into a freefall from subscribers.
Benny and Raffi Fine ultimately withdrew the trademarking for React World.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
It's not that his content has gotten terrible, but he sure seems to be appearing as the antithesis of what he was portraying himself to be in his videos.
It was found out that iDubbbz's girlfriend had an OnlyFans account, where she would sell softcore XXX photos of herself. iDubbbz came out and said he was cool with it, and his fans have been calling him a simp and a cuck ever since.
He's trying to make a comeback after those controversies.
She was a decent YouTuber until her feud with James Charles about his predatory behavior, leading to her biggest video ever prior to gaining the most subscribers in 24 hours and him losing the most in 24 hours ever on YouTube. She eventually deleted the video hoping the drama settled.
Star rose to fame through MySpace, where he quickly became one of the most viewed people on the website. At that time, his focus was on his music career... read more
After Stephen and Jay released videos saying they quit DanPlan because of Daniel not paying the other members enough, DanPlan started to lose subscribers.
She used to be so funny, but after Ondreaz Lopez from TikTok dated her in 2020, she left her comedy roots and is making generic vlogs about being with him. Plus, she's 28 years old and he's 23. Crazy, right? Yet she isn't funny anymore.
