Top 10 Most Thrilling Rides & Attractions at Disneyland Paris
This is a list of the most thrilling rides at Disneyland Paris.Thrill scale is ranked below each detail.
I've been to Disneyland Paris many times, but I've always been too scared to go on this ride.
It was so fast that my glasses flew off!
This Space Mountain is unique worldwide. It's the second fastest ride at Disneyland Paris, reaching a top speed of 44 mph, just behind Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's 57 mph. It is the only Space Mountain with inversions, featuring three, and it pulls 4.9 g's on the riders. Additionally, it uses a launch system rather than a chain lift, propelling you into "outer space" within seconds. The ride has distinctive seating restraints, is longer than other Space Mountains, and includes impressive special effects. There is a minimum height requirement of 48 inches (formerly 52 inches), making it unsuitable for young children.
The storyline involves a jump to Hyperspace, engaging in a space battle with rebels and their fighter ships, and then getting caught in a Star Destroyer's tractor beam before escaping into Hyperspace.
Compared to other Space Mountain attractions, the one at Disney World is the slowest and roughest due to old tracks. Disneyland California's version is smoother, as are Tokyo's and Hong Kong's. However, Disneyland Paris has the wildest and most extreme Space Mountain. While it may not have the fastest launch, accelerating to 44 mph in 1.8 seconds with 1.5 g's, it does have three inversions. Despite being the fastest Space Mountain at 44 mph, it can cause head banging due to the seating arrangement. When it was Mission 2, the track's roughness led to significant head banging.
During the "From the Earth to the Moon" era, it had perfect theming and an original storyline. In 2005, it became Mission 2, which, despite the changes, retained some originality. Now as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, the theming feels unoriginal and more like a marketing move. However, the thrill remains, and the track has been smoothed out, reducing head banging. The attraction will revert to its previous form in November 2018 as Mission 2, hopefully without the roughness.
Thrill level: 7/10.
This is the tallest attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris, known for its drop sequence, making it the ultimate thrill at the park. However, unlike the original at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Disney World, it's shorter and has the same drop sequence for every rider, so it can get repetitive for frequent riders.
Thrill level: 7/10.
It launches you from 0 to 57 mph in 2.8 seconds, delivering 5 g's and featuring three loops, all in the dark, while Aerosmith music blasts in your ears. The storyline is that you're attending an Aerosmith concert. The minimum height requirement is 48 inches, so little kids won't be tall enough to ride. Unfortunately, they're closing it soon to retheme it into an Iron Man experience. It seems like they're just after the money.
Thrill level: 6.5/10.
This is an old-looking coaster, fitting its theme, and it's the first roller coaster with an inversion at a Disney park. The minimum height requirement is 55 inches, the highest for any Disney ride, making it unsuitable for children and likely more appealing to those 20 and up.
Thrill level: 6/10.
Love this ride. It's my favorite. You sit in a turtle shell that fits four people per car, and you can face forwards or backwards. I always face forwards. The ride begins with a small lift hill, followed by a sharp turn, which is the only outdoor part of the ride. Then, you go slowly around the fish, seeing Nemo and, if you look up, jellyfish. The excitement builds as you go up another lift hill, where a shark jumps out, and then you pause briefly. After that, you speed around corners, down drops, and even go sideways (but not upside down). I went backward down one drop and screamed my head off. The ride ends with a slow-down. I also forgot to mention that the ride spins. If you like coasters that spin and make you scream without going upside down, this is the ride for you. This and Big Thunder Mountain are my favorites at the park.
It's a simple-looking ride, yet it's a roller coaster that goes back and forth until it comes to a complete stop. It's somewhat like riding a pirate ship at fairs. The minimum height requirement is 48 inches, which is high for a Disney coaster that's not extremely intense.
Thrill level: 6.5/10.
You might think this is a rollercoaster if it's on a top ten scary rides list at Disneyland Paris, but it's not. The ride has two sections. The first features moving portraits and makes it feel like you are moving. The second part is the ride itself, where you sit in a small vehicle that fits two people and goes around Phantom Manor. This is a good ride located in Frontierland next to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Last time I went in July, it was closed for refurbishment, so I couldn't ride, but hopefully, next time I visit, I'll experience it with its new refurbishment.
This ride is similar to Dumbo but with a Buck Rogers-style rocket theme. You spin higher and faster, and there's no height requirement. You can control the speed for a more comfortable experience.
Thrill level: 2/10.
My review: It's like Dumbo but with a rocket theme. It's only scary if you're afraid of heights. It's not a must-see attraction, but it's good, especially at night for great views of Discoveryland.
This ride starts as a leisurely journey through caverns and scenery. You then encounter Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew, and the ride features a waterfall drop into a battle scene with cannon fire. A second waterfall drop occurs towards the end of the ride.
Thrill level: 2.5/10.
Okay, why is this not on the list? This ride is a mine train rollercoaster, and when I went on it, I thought it would be slow. Well, it isn't! It speeds you around the mountain, and it's really good. Another thing to mention is that it's quite a long ride, which is great, but also means longer wait times. When I went in late July, the wait was 45 minutes, which is good but not ideal every day. However, you can use Fastpass, although it's also quite busy. If you don't want to wait long, use the Fastpass for later. This is my favorite in Disneyland Park, and Crush's Coaster is my favorite in Walt Disney Studios, so it's a great ride to do in Frontierland before or after Phantom Manor.
Disneyland Paris's teacups spin you around just like a record. The teacups are on spinning tables, and all the spinning can be intense, so those prone to motion sickness or with health problems should be cautious. You can control the spinning.
Thrill level: 2/10.
This is a retheme of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, based on the Avengers from Marvel. While Disney may be oversaturating with Marvel content, this ride still provides thrills. According to riders and reports, it's rated 6.5/10.
