Top 10 David Coverdale Ballads
Ballads include power ballads (power ballads are rock ballads and they have louder, faster and heavier sections).David Coverdale started his career as a Deep Purple vocalist but he formed his own hard rock band - Whitesnake. Whitesnake have been active since the late 70s and they even released new material in the 2010s.
Coverdale also released solo albums where most of the songs are ballads.
David Coverdale voice is pretty versatile - it's very powerful and he can sing fast paced and aggressive hard rock/metal songs but he also sounds great on ballads. Ballads reveal his deep, sad, gritty and sexy voice.
When I heard this song for the first time, I was surprised a singer at 22 sounded so sad, as if he had already experienced a lot in life. Maybe David Coverdale was an old soul in a young body...
A pretty heavy ballad-esque song. The live version from California 1974 is very good.
Again, a very sad sounding voice from a 25 yo man.
A great cover song - the original isn't a ballad but Whitesnake made it sound like a ballad: they played it slower and heavier, and Coverdale sang it more emotionally. And they played it rock style.
It was on the Days Of Thunder OST, a Tom Cruise film, 1990
Just love this song amazing!
A power ballad that is almost 8 minutes long - from the 1993 album with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. If this song reminds you Led Zeppelin, you are right - music was written by Jimmy Page.
This is an all time favorite by Whitesnake but I put it lower because it might be too heavy to be called a ballad, even a power ballad. But after listening to fast extreme metal, every slower song sounds like a ballad to me, LOL. And this was the reason I hesitated.
It's a power ballad.
The middle of the song has a pretty heavy section though (a song from the album with Jimmy Page)
