This one is such a good first level. It has the right amount of difficulty and it calls for you to explore more. Nice boss too. It shows the epic-ness of the Mario series.

2 Yoshi's Island 1 (Super Mario World)

A smooth sailing level with cool music and other nice things, like slopes and dinosaur coins. Good level.

3 World 1-1 (Super Mario Bros. 2)

4 Road to the Big Windmill (Super Mario Sunshine)

Open world with a nice feel and cool stuff all around.

5 Grand Star Rescue (Super Mario Galaxy)

6 World 1-1 (Super Mario Bros. 3)
