Most Surprising NFL Teams Week 9 (2019)
Well that was an interesting week. All of the home teams were able to handle business this week. In the US at least. As we enter the second half of the season here’s some teams who got off to a shocking start. The Baltimore Ravens did the rest of the league a favor by bringing the New England Patriots' undefeated season to an end. The main reason? Lamar Jackson. He sliced through the Patriots' defense, making them look silly.
The Ravens also locked down the Patriots' offense just enough for them to win. This was a statement win for Baltimore, who have all but asserted themselves as a top team in the AFC.
After a sluggish start, the Chargers picked up an impressive win over Green Bay. On top of that, Melvin Gordon was a key factor. LA dominated Green Bay in this one, as Aaron Rodgers had his worst game of the season.
Much to the amusement of the rest of the league, the Patriots are no longer undefeated. The Patriots' defense, once thought of as the top defense in the league, was flat-out exposed by Lamar Jackson.
On top of that, the Ravens' defense was able to contain the Patriots' offense. That's what happens when you play a real team.
The Bucs gave Seattle quite a scare. Jameis Winston had a solid day, and they were up 21-7. Unfortunately, they couldn't hold on for a win in this one.
They definitely put the NFL world on notice.
Seattle, what was that? You let the Bucs hang around way too long. Thankfully, you won in OT. Russell Wilson might have just bolstered his MVP case.
However, it's still shocking to see them not only taken to OT but also trailing early, 21-7.
YOU'VE WON A GAME! That alone should be worthy of a spot on this list, but then you realize it was against the Jets. You won, but at what cost?
Tua is a great prize that requires dedication to the tank. You may have just buttfumbled your own tank. Now the Bengals have one-upped you guys.
After looking pretty unstoppable through the first eight weeks, the Packers did that: laid a dud in LA. Rodgers had his worst game of the year, as LA was able to contain Green Bay for a stunning win.
Yeah, they may have lost, but damn, Kenyan Drake had himself quite the debut for Arizona. Kyler Murray is doing well, as the Cardinals made this game a lot closer than it deserved to be.
The Jets lost to the Miami Dolphins. Yes, this is an accurate statement. Sam Darnold was meh, and Miami was determined to win, letting the Jets win a tank bowl.
Are you sure Adam Gase was the best hire? I don't think so. Congratulations on buttfumbling your season away.
Jags, what was that? You got absolutely destroyed by the Texans. Gardner Minshew was absolutely awful. By that, I mean he had his worst game as a starter and might have given Foles his starting job back.
It was fun while it lasted, boys.
