Top 10 Most Underrated K-Pop Artists
They really need to be noticed more, and they are really strong for deciding to go on.
Ladies' Code, fighting!
The Rain was the first K-pop song I ever heard, and I immediately fell in love with it.
This is a really underrated group that deserves more attention.
There are many strong sides to 9Muses. They are great performers, they have very good and stable vocalists (even the rapper sings well!), and one of their strongest members was the rapper Euaerin/Erin, who unfortunately left in 2016. Let me just tell you this: her rap is on point! She really can rap - she's not the typical awkward rapper like in some overrated groups.
They are one of the hardest-working groups ever! In 2013, they had FOUR comebacks, all of them featuring excellent songs that SHOULD have won first place. They didn't even win with Hurt Locker, which was the best song of 2015!
They've been active since 2010 with several member changes, and it still makes me sad when they have more than just one comeback a year but still don't win first place. :(
Do you even know them? They haven't been active for quite a while, but they most certainly are very talented and underrated.
Honestly, I think they are amazing. People keep forgetting how hardworking and talented they are because it's rare to see them. Pledis needs to give them more spotlight. If they don't get a solid fanbase, it will always be a problem.
They are so awesome, and I hope people stop sleeping on them.
After their debut, I think people forgot how awesome, talented, and amazing they are!
This group was more famous than EXO before, but Pledis messed them up. They deserve more.
Their dance and vocal skills, as well as their choreographies and songs, are simply AMAZING. Even though they didn't release many songs or MVs before disbanding, they are definitely worth checking out. Their synchronization and dedication are out of this world - I mean, they learned to do saltos and use Heelys *perfectly* as a rookie group.
They didn't need to go that extra mile, but they did, and it was amazing. I know I'm ranting, but they are so underrated that this is the first time I get to talk about them. So, if you're reading this, please go watch them. I only discovered them after they disbanded, but they are easily one of my favorite - if not *the* favorite - groups ever. They are THAT good.
JYJ isn't underrated. It's just that people don't always refer to them as JYJ, but as DBSK. Cassiopeia supports them, and we all know how strong Cassiopeia is, but they always refer to them as DBSK because the fans still hold onto the hope that DBSK will reunite as an OT5 again.
JYJ has the best vocals in the industry, not to mention they own the most expensive and fastest cars, too. They are talented in acting as well - just look at how Yoochun won so many awards as an actor.
I've heard that JYJ isn't allowed to appear on the three major entertainment production companies: KBS, MBC, etc. So, they shouldn't be called underrated just because they don't appear on music shows.
Girl, I was just recently introduced to this group, and although I haven't learned their names yet, I was seriously blown away by their talent. And the VOCALS, man - the vocals are amazing. The songs are super catchy and well-executed.
I feel like there aren't enough great vocalists in K-pop who are recognized. If you haven't checked these girls out yet, you are definitely missing out.
U-KISS is a phenomenally talented group that was formed in 2008. To this day, their own country shuns them, but Japan has adopted them as their own. As a result, they sing, record, and perform in multiple languages and are active in Japan all year round, as well as in the rest of the world - Vietnam, Budokan, Europe, South and North America. When they say international, they mean it.
Their voices are incredible, their dance moves extraordinary, and they LOVE their fans. They still act like anyone else and talk to their fans in public places (not at planned events). There's no holier than thou, I'm an idol ego. They're down-to-earth, extremely talented boys who deserve MUCH more recognition than they've ever gotten.
As their leader Soohyun said, We do this for our fans. If we only had one fan left, we'd still go and perform for that fan. Fans are why we are here. And they deserve more!
There's honestly so much I could say about these girls. Ultimate bias group forever, but they don't get the recognition they deserve.
Luna's voice is so great, and I'm not even kidding when I say it's better than Taeyeon's. She's such a cute and amazing person, but all you fake fans were sleeping on her solo debut.
Amber auditioned as a singer, but SM wanted her to rap. This smol bean must be protected at all times. Not to mention, all y'all fake fans slept on her too. MeUs were supposed to be the chillest, most supportive fandom - what happened?
Victoria! Such a great leader for all the members. And her flexibility? Like, how does a human even do that? She's so great but so underrated. Her dancing, the high kick in Nu Abo, and just her in general - she's so perfect!
Soojung (Krystal) - ice princess to people who don't know her but a goofball in real life. She's so loyal to her sister and her members.
It's just hit me that if I carry on, I may end up writing an essay. Oops!
Yeah... Stan f(x), stan talent (not just Krystal like the fake fans do). P.S. OT5 was the best f(x), and I hope Sulli can return one day.
The Newcomers
Let me tell you something. They are by far one of the most anticipated boy groups, and EVERYONE should listen to their music. Literally, they have great songs, dances, and even music!
If they don't get enough love from Hallyu fans, at least they have my love and that of ToppKlass.
They're so good, and barely anyone talks about them. They've been around for quite some time, and their (amazing) albums were ignored because many other artists debuted around the same time.
They DEFINITELY deserve more fans.
Solji honestly has one of the best vocals in the K-pop industry, but she is often overshadowed. Her voice is truly beautiful and powerful, which is something many idols considered the best singers lack. Her performance of Maria on Masked King was amazing. She hits high notes perfectly, and in one part, it almost sounds autotuned because her control is just that good.
Hyerin also has a very nice voice. Junghwa is actually an amazing dancer, though she doesn't get to show that often. If you look up Junghwa's dance practice on YouTube, you'll find a great video showcasing her genuinely impressive dancing skills, with a lot of flow and technique that you might not usually find in girl groups.
While Hani is known for her visuals, she has an incredible yet underrated voice. Their songs are often in higher pitches, but her voice suits lower tones. Check out her performance on Masked King too! She is a good singer with a honey-like, intoxicating voice. LE is a great rapper with underground experience. She also writes and produces music, which is rare for girl groups. Together, they have amazing chemistry, and you can see their strong friendship and tight-knit bonds.
MyName is my ultimate bias group. They are extremely underrated for how much talent they have - in vocals (Insoo, Gunwoo), dancing (none of the members are lacking - Seyong even did a back handspring in Message), and just overall attitude.
They are very honest, respectful, and grateful for the small fanbase they have, yet they are cheerful, funny, and interesting to watch.
One reason they aren't more popular is that their songs are much more emotional than the songs produced by typical popular boy groups. I'm not bashing other groups here, but MyName's songs are just so much more meaningful than the average song at the top of the K-pop charts.
They don't get as much love, but the members work really hard for their fans and their music. Bang Yongguk is an extremely talented, hard-working leader.
I think after Sunye's wedding and pregnancy, people started forgetting about Wonder Girls. They are so talented, and what they need is a comeback. I, as a Wonderful, am faithfully waiting for their comeback and am not even sure if they will have one or if they might face breaking up, especially since four members' contracts are ending next year.
But I do hope they don't break up, because they are one of the groups that brought K-pop to the international stage. Not to mention the number of hit songs they produced and the dances that are always being covered by so many idols.
I really hope they continue and RECEIVE THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE.
Although Teen Top has a decent-sized fanbase, they are still considered underrated in comparison to their releases. In fact, their previous singles - "Crazy," "To You," "Miss Right," "Rocking," "Missing," and "I'm Sorry" - were more than enough to showcase their incredible vocals and impressive, unique dances.
Not only that, but their personalities are also extremely entertaining, and they are just a group of people who genuinely enjoy what they do. Go watch their Weekly Idol series. They are fantastic.
Best vocals ever! They can hit high notes and low notes without hesitation. They don't really think about their popularity. They focus on their friendship with each other, which makes them truly bias-worthy.
They are a hardworking group - if one member faces something, all of them face it too. Their friendship is amazing, and their support for each other is remarkable.
I'm also amazed by the fact that they can make (yes, make - they write their own songs, though not all of them) and sing any genre beautifully.
So what if they're not all handsome (though, in my opinion, technically, all of them are)? At least they all have great personalities, and they also have a great sense of humor.
Instead of Hyuna's "Bubble Pop," I think Girl's Day's "Twinkle Twinkle" is the best bubble pop song of all time in South Korea!
He's a good rapper. There's no reason for people to criticize him - he can definitely rap better than me, probably even rap circles around me if that's possible, because I can't sing. He's got skill and is really good at rapping.
I absolutely love this girl. Her vocals blow me away. She's probably my favorite K-pop solo artist.
Check out her music if you haven't yet. QUEEN. Enough said.
Ailee is definitely my favorite singer. She has vocals out of this world!
Queen! Makes me want to power walk.
My boys are so talented! They make their own music and choreography, and they have even produced for other artists like Cheetah. They have so much charisma and talent, and it hurts that I might as well be the leader of their fan club because no one knows them!
Their individual members have released some amazing mixtapes. I just want them to get the recognition they deserve before it's too late. Please show 24K some support with me! Check them out. You won't regret it! If you want more info on them, you can ask me.
I know that I'm a new BestFriend, and all I can say from the research I've done is that it's tremendously unfair! Starship should be giving them the spotlight too. They should be fair and help Boyfriend reach their dreams.
I know, for the past few years, Boyfriend has been doing their very best to reach their goals and dreams. I think they deserve more than what they've received.
I seriously think they need more recognition. Not only are they gifted with talent and looks, but they also have kind hearts. I know I am in no position to say this since I don't know them too well, but from what I've seen, they are doing their best despite the lack of love they should have received. I know they deserve more.
I didn't even know Cross Gene existed before looking up underrated K-pop groups, but holy crap! Their songs are amazing!
They are incredibly talented. I can't believe they are not super famous.
Cross Gene is my favorite K-pop group!
Epik High as a whole is very underrated. Yet, they are so good. Their lyrics are pure genius, and they talk about real problems like social issues and such.
He is the best rapper in K-pop. Just take a look at the lyrics he writes. That man is a GENIUS!
