Plot is still your typical "good VS evil", fights are still won largely by just mashing repeatedly on the standard attack command and spamming your most overpowered magic abilities, the boss progression is pretty much exactly the same, literally every traditional JRPG cliché you can think of is actively parodied by it, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera
