Top 10 Best Minecraft Versions
Minecraft has been around for years, and in that time, it's seen so many updates, tweaks, and game-changing versions. From major overhauls that added entirely new dimensions to smaller updates that fine-tuned gameplay, every version brings something unique to the table. Some updates introduced iconic mechanics or items we can't imagine Minecraft without today, while others delivered a mix of nostalgia and groundbreaking ideas that defined how we play the game.
It has a lot of pros, like:
- A lot of servers use it, so you have to change versions less.
- It fixes a lot of bugs, and it is very stable!
- Has cool features.
Best version overall. If the license allowed, I would fork and improve from it.
This is the version I use the most and can use mods without lag.
A good version to start playing Minecraft from.
A good update to first start Minecraft in.
The first version that I played.
Really good. It added creative mode and you can sprint. It's a really good update. And the only two updates I play are the 24w14 infinite snapshot and beta 1.8. For me, these are the two best versions.
Just as God intended. Pure perfection.
This is the original version I played. Beautiful world generation and simplistic gameplay style were the defining features I loved. The only updates I've liked since then were 1.13, 1.14, and 1.16. My favorite version by far!
A bunch of biomes were added as well as the amplified option for world generation. Basically, a lot of the worlds you have has changed in this update.
It's one of the largest updates since 1.0. It added savannas, dark forests, mega taigas, etc.
Started playing Minecraft on this version, nothing else really to add.

It just brings me memories from older times. I wish I could play this version on my PC.
One of the few versions I can play and, yeah, it may have its problems, but overall, it's still the best version in my heart. Smiling face.

As someone who loves playing with mods, this is my favorite version.
Perfect mix of Minecraft for any kind of player, in my opinion.
The best version when it came to mods.
This version significantly changed Minecraft.
INFINITE WORLDS.

The Newcomers

The first version I played was from 2018 to early 2020. It was a shame that I was on version 1.1 instead of 1.13.

Had so many memories, but my disc got scratched. At least I have the festive pack because that is my favorite pack and at least I have it on my Nintendo Switch!
There was no end or elytra in alpha or beta, and the end was added in beta 1.9, which is the prerelease of 1.0, AKA my favorite version. But alpha has the Nether, and it is a very good classic game.
Despite that, they ruined the sword system, this update finally spiced up the End and featured the Elytra.
This update has the Nether, as well as other mobs.
The oceans are a lot more beautiful and fun to explore since this update.
This update is good because it has horses. Come on, who doesn't like horses?

Now it is not called Pocket Edition anymore. It is just called Minecraft and it almost has all the stuff that is on PC, and it is awesome!
The first release should always be mentioned.
I feel like it improved on beta 1.8 just a bit while still being nostalgic. It doesn't scream "MINECRAFT IS IN BETA," but it also doesn't scream that it's too modern. I like it.

Back when the game was still simple and quiet. And for the most part, stable.
Last decent version. Beta 1.8 killed Minecraft by adding hunger, running, etc., and 1.0 cremated Minecraft's body by adding a final boss (remember, Minecraft was supposed to be a sandbox game).
Yep, as a kid, I really opposed hunger. Though running was nice, it also ruined balancing with mobs.

The update that changed the world really did a number on the world generation. Nothing is really as chaotic and fun as it used to be.
There's a comment on Alpha 1.2.0 that says this update spiced up the End and added Elytra.
I'm just mentioning that because 1.9: The Combat Update had these features as well.
It also introduced dual wielding, shields, a better Ender Dragon fight, Shulkers, and tool cooldown!
1.9 is the best update in my opinion. It has the new combat system, which is not as bad as many people think.
It also includes Elytra, End ships, and so much more. People should like this update more than they do now.
Most people don't like it because of the combat, but there's more to it than just combat.
For example, Elytra, derpy snowmen, improved boats, and so much more!
The grandfather of Minecraft as we see it today.
