The Top Ten
1 Fernando Torres to Chelsea FC from Liverpool FC for £50 million

After spending five successful years at Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC became interested in the Spaniard and paid Liverpool FC a whopping £50 million. But after joining Chelsea FC, Fernando Torres' progress instantly declined.

Despite winning the UEFA Champions League in 2012 and the UEFA Europa League in 2013 with Chelsea FC, he was still a terrible player for the club. He eventually made a permanent move to Italian club AC Milan and then soon after made a permanent move to Spanish club Atletico Madrid FC, which is the team he currently plays for.

2 Ángel Di Maria to Manchester United FC from Real Madrid FC for £60 million

After winning the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid FC in 2014, Ángel Di Maria attracted the interest of Manchester United FC. The English club paid a whopping £60 million for the Argentine, but Di Maria soon became a failure at Manchester United FC.

Soon after, he was bought by French club PSG FC, which is the team he plays for now.

3 Andy Carroll to Liverpool FC from Newcastle United FC for £35 million

After spending many successful years at Newcastle United FC, Andy Carroll moved to Liverpool FC in 2011 for £35 million. But the transfer was a disaster for Liverpool FC. He only netted a few goals here and there and was very injury prone.

He was eventually sold to the London club West Ham United FC, which is the club he currently plays for.

4 Christian Benteke to Liverpool FC from Aston Villa FC for £30 million

After having a successful time at Aston Villa FC and earning himself a reputation as a tough man who can score lots of goals, Liverpool FC became interested in him and paid £30 million for the Belgian.

At first, Benteke was scoring quite a few goals and even got a few wonder goals, but his progress soon declined dramatically. He soon ended up just becoming a bench warmer. He eventually got sold to Crystal Palace FC for £30 million, and he still plays for them now. At least Liverpool FC got all their money back.

5 Zlatan Ibrahimovic to FC Barcelona from Inter Milan FC for £46 million

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be a world-class player, but his career isn't perfect. After a successful time at Inter Milan FC, Ibrahimovic joined FC Barcelona for £46 million, but the transfer was a disaster.

He didn't get much playing time because, at the time, FC Barcelona had players like Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, David Villa, Pedro, and Bojan. There wasn't much room for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. When he did play, he was quite disappointing and was eventually sold to AC Milan. Since then, he has also played for PSG FC and Manchester United FC.

6 Demytro Chygrynskiy to FC Barcelona from Shaktar Donetsk FC for £25 million

When Asier Illarramendi moved to Real Madrid FC for £32 million in 2013, he was meant to be a big signing for the club to play alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and Isco. However, he was a disaster at Real Madrid FC.

He didn't get much playing time because of Gareth Bale, Isco, Mesut Özil, and Ángel Di Maria. When he did play, he was very disappointing, hence why he was just a bench warmer for most of his time at Real Madrid FC. After spending one season at Real Madrid FC, he was sold to Valencia FC, where he still currently plays.

9 Mario Götze to FC Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund FC for £37 million

After a very successful time at German club Borussia Dortmund FC, Mario Götze was bought by their rivals FC Bayern Munich in 2014 for £37 million to replace Toni Kroos. He was set to be a huge player at the German club.

He spent two years at FC Bayern Munich and won two Bundesliga titles as well as the FIFA World Cup in Brazil in 2014 with the Germany national team. However, he was never a first-team regular at FC Bayern Munich because of the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, and Xabi Alonso. After spending two quite unsuccessful years at FC Bayern Munich, he returned to his former club Borussia Dortmund FC in 2016, and he still plays for them now.

10 Radamel Falcao to Manchester United FC from AS Monaco on loan

After an average season at French club AS Monaco, Radamel Falcao went on loan to Manchester United FC in 2014 with a possible future transfer fee of £50 million. Manchester United FC ended up paying no transfer fee for Radamel Falcao, and the Colombian man only spent one season there.
