Most Overrated Survivor Contestants

Some contestants in the 26 seasons of Survivor have gotten a lot more credit than they deserve. Winners and losers aside, here are the most overrated contestants of all of Survivor.
The Top Ten
1 Parvati Shallow - Cook Islands Parvati Shallow is an American television personality and was the $1,000,000 winner of the reality television series Survivor: Micronesia.

She was a very strong player, I don't know what people are talking about. She easily deserved the win of Micronesia and was an easy second place player in Heroes vs. Villains. That's not her fault, she was playing with the greatest Survivor player in history, Russell Hantz. Sandra, though, is the most overrated of all time, didn't deserve to win at all. If you actually think Sandra deserved to win Heroes vs. Villains, stop watching the show, you don't know anything about Survivor. Congratulations.

Rode others to the title in Micronesia and the final three in H vs. V. If not for her flirting and false friendliness, she'd be nothing. Plus she's just a mean person.

Lmao at her being top ten when she actually is a terrible player. in micronesia she had endless amounts of luck, if fairplay didn't quit she is the first boot, if penner/kathy stayed she would be gone in the swaps, and spent the merge ostracizing eliza and the guys and played for an f3 where Cirie beats the living daylights out of her. lucked out yet AGAIN with an f2 twist and gave a bad ftc performance.
In HvV, she was in the majority alliance according to interviews, then isolated herself with russell and danielle. then she lucked out by tyson swapping his vote last minute, and russell convincing jerri and coach to flip on rob. in the merge, she constantly ignored the heroes and laughed at their letter within earshot of them. she then refused to tell russell about the idol she found because she "wanted to make him squirm" and got rid of the only person other than russell that she could beat in the end: danielle.

Parvati is an awful player that's glorified by fans because of a dumb flashy idol play.

2 Russell Hantz - Samoa Russell Hantz is an oil company owner and former contestant of the reality show Survivor. He played 3 seasons, and never finished higher than 2nd.

I agree that Russell is an overrated player because the Samoa episodes were edited to make it look like he was doing everything and the others were clueless. I do not believe that. The others knew that they could beat Russell because the jury would hate him so they kept him around, and they also made moves but there moves were more subtle. Regardless of that, Russell is the most entertaining and strategic player and should have won in Samoa. It is very obvious that when the jury voted for Natalie it was a vote not for Russell. He may not be the greatest player, but is definitely one of the greatest players. I hope he eventually wins.He needs to.

So many people want to get down on the ground for Russell and tell him that he should've won that game. To this day, he still complains about it on facebook, and still is seemingly oblivious to the fact that he deserved to lose, along with many others. In what I would call a "learning moment" Russell saw the principle that "If you're really rude to people for 39 days, and act better than them, they don't want you to have a million dollars" play out. Russell did not deserve to win, and quite frankly, I'm glad the jury chose not to reward his poor play.

3 Amber Mariano - The Australian Outback

In Survivor: Australia, Amber did nothing. She was just there, a contestant who no one cared about. Rob carried her to the end in All-Stars and she only won because she was the more likeable of the two.

If it had not been for Rob Amber would have been eliminated before the merge. She road Rob's coattails all the way. She only won because the jury was bitter against Rob for screwing them over.

boring contestant, doesn't do anything

4 Sandra Diaz-Twine - Pearl Islands Sandra Diaz-Twine is an American television personality who became known for her appearances on the reality game show Survivor. She's well known for being the first person to win twice. (Tony Vlachos is the second person to win twice.)

Take into consideration that I've been watching Survivor for a super long time, pay good attention to the game, write, analyze, and research so many things about the game. I also deeply read fan's opinions. I've seen so many arguments that Sanra should've won and it makes me want to legit puke. In Pearl Islands, she literrally got to the end for not being threatening, and easily beat Lilian 6-1 since almost everyone that season hated Lilian. She had a poor social game, and was also very sarcastic and often openly rude. Then there's Heroes vs. Villains. Tried to get Russell out for so long but her poor social game (just as poor as Russell's and Parvati's) and horrible strategic game earned her barely any useful allies as Russell's controlled alliance took out what she had in Tyson, Rob, and Courtney pre-merge. She also barely did any work around camp. She was used in Russell's alliance to take out all the heroes post-merge and wasn't threatening to anyone. She was such a goat and did nothing of much importance during the game and only got to the end because she was clearly an easy goat to beat. Russell was a victim of one of the most bitter juries in Survivor history, as the heroes were "hurt" that Russell so dominantly eliminated every one of them and were also mad that Parvati helped take them out as well. So, they bitterly voted for the person who only barely contributed to their eliminations, because even as returning players, they somehow couldn't accept the amazing games of Russell and Parvati. Sandra is the most overrated player of all time, her winning twice doesn't say anything about her gameplay, she isn't a queen of anything, and not even in the top one hundred players of all time if you ask me. Honestly, if you don't agree with me, maybe you shouldn't watch Survivor since you clearly understand little about it. Sandra's win was a joke. Sandra was a goat. I'm getting tired of typing the name "Sandra" and wouldn't have to if people knew Survivor the way I... more

5 Rob Mariano - Redemption Island Robert Carlo "Rob" Mariano, known by the nickname Boston Rob, is an American television personality, widely known for appearing in several reality shows, including Survivor, and The Amazing Race with his wife, Amber Mariano.

in Redemption Island (the season he won) he was one of the returning players. The other one (Russell) got voted out pre-merge. Which means during the merge he had no real competition. In winners at war he tried to use the buddy system and failed, which proves that he can't play with good players. He also won only one out of 4 times, people say he is the best player while someone won 2/3 times.

Insanely overrated. Played against poorest competition ever on Redemption Island and still would have lost a jury vote to everyone except the 2 biggest goats of all time. Had Ashley not saved his ass by winning immunity when she did, he probably ends up with Grant in the final and gets badly crushed. 2 of his first 3 times playing does not even make the merge.

Rob deserved to win redemption island, however he played with a bunch of dimwits who worshiped him. CBS wanted him to win so badly that they put him on a tribe which was full of idiots. Had he won in all stars then he would have not competed in redemption island.

6 Stephenie LaGrossa - Palau

should never have come back in Guatemala and then somehow took the place of someone who could have brought something actually interesting into the season for heroes vs villains.

Gets way too much credit for the Ulonging in spite of her bad teamwork and social skills. Plays like a victim.

Appreciate her pluck, but she was as much of a reason for Ulong to lose as anyone else.

7 Chelsea Meissner - One World

Chelsea followed Kim until the very end and made no strategic moves. Her one notable quote is "I love money! " Survivor fans like her for her beauty and nothing else.

8 Andrea Boehlke - Redemption Island

In Redemption Island, Andrea was another sleepwalking zombie of Rob who did nothing except get blindsided. She had no strategy, no game, and no reason to return to Caramoan. She was even blindsided with an idol after attempting to eliminate Brenda.

9 Courtney Yates - China

A snarky personality covering up deep insecurity doesn't play out well in real life. Hey, guess what, Mom! I'm perfectly suited to be a reality show contestant!

Not a great strategist, but what makes her overrated is the fact that fans clamor she made Survivor: China amazing.

Courtney was unstable and untrustworthy all of Survivor: China, and was only on Heroes vs Villains because she was funny.

10 Sophie Clarke - South Pacifc

The producers gifted her South Pacific's crown when they realized that Coach winning would have damned any chance on suspense in any future season if they brought back winners.

Sophie easily wins for most overrated. She sat around and made enemies while Coach did all of the work. All she did was laugh after her contestants' eliminations and act as a goat in order to win.

I mean, like, she didn't do anything in her winning season. In FTC she just told a lot of lies like she carried coach to the end, which wasn't true. coach made cochran flip. and don't get me started on cochran.

The Contenders
11 Ozzy Lusth - Cook Islands Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth is a reality star, well known for playing on the his reality show "Survivor." He played in the seasons "Cook Islands," "Micronesia," "South Pacific," and "Game Changers."

He was a challenge beast, but had no strategy. He played a decent game in Cook Islands, but didn't do so well in fans vs favorites because he got way too comfortable and and the only reason he made it to the f4 in South Pacific was becuase of the redemption island twist.

How is this not #1? He got too many tries. Sure, he's a challenge beast, but that's what always leads to his downfall each season. He got voted off a record 5 times for crying out loud!

He might be great in challenges, but his attitude and arrogance sucked and I'm glad he never won a single time he played

12 Ciera Eastin - Blood VS Water, Cambodia and Game Changers
13 Spencer Bledsoe - Cagayan and Second Chances

Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa! One word: underdog! Everything was going right for Tony, who did not deserve to win. Spencer beat all the odds to make it to the F4, but when Kass won that immunity, he was toast. What he should've done was convince Woo about the F2 instead of Tony, and that if Tony wins the FIC, he will win the game. Spencer also explained how he would've done against any of the F3; against Kass, Spencer unanimously wins. Against Woo, Spencer wins, but Woo does get jury votes. Against Tony, he doesn't know about that, but 5-4 either way. Great player in Second Chance as well, luck going up and down as in Cagayan. Both seasons, beats all the odds to make it super far!

Fans clamor that he is so great, but doesn't even know when to keep his mouth shut. Therefore, pushing away people to work with him. If he wins, he'll be the worst winner of all time. Even worst than Bob.

He played a good game in cagayan. He also played a good game in Cambodia, however his game in Cambodia wasn't as good as Cagayan.

14 Mikayla Wingle - South Pacific

Someone tell me, why is she so well liked? She was the fifth person eliminated for crying out loud! All she managed to do before her elimination is get on the nerves of her tribemates and unsuccessfully campaign to vote out Edna.

15 Colton Cumbie - One World, Blood vs. Water

Should have never made an appearance. Terrible player, terrible person. Terrible terrible terrible!

16 Kelley Wentworth - Cambodia

She is just not a good player and probably will never win, even after 10 seasons she will play

She is one of the players that gets but shouldn't be called with their surname

YEAH! Deserves to be on that list!

17 Alicia Calaway - Australian Outback

Did absolutely nothing in the Outback - was the Most Undeserving All-Star contestant - where once again - she did nothing!

18 John Cochran - Caramoan John Martin Cochran, commonly referred to as simply Cochran, is an American reality television personality and television writer.

Cockyran was considered a hero due to backstabbing his entire tribe who saved him twice so he could make the merge. Afterwards he barely put up an argument before getting voted out and easily eliminated by Ozzy the next day. In Caramoan, Cochran acted as Dawn's puppet and only chose the elimination of Eddie throughout the entire game. He went out of his way to insult Julia, Philip, Eddie, Michael, Malcolm, Corinne, Sherri, Erik Dawn and Brandon while blabbering about his "challenge beastliness. " It would be easier to like him if he weren't so arrogant and self-righteous.

"Hi, I know everything about Survivor, but I refuse to return to show I'm a true champion. I'm Cocky Cochran."

cochran blindsided the tribe that saved him countless times. his name was on the chopping block since day one and he somehow made it to the merge. he's not good in challenges, his strategy is to ride the coattails of people who can actually play the game, and his social game is :( he tells embarrassing stories to get sympathy. he can't play the game

19 Rupert Boneham - Pearl Islands Rupert Boneham is an American mentor for troubled teens, who became known to reality television audiences in 2003 as a contestant on Survivor: Pearl Islands where he placed 8th.

He's only well liked due to good editing. Most contestants can't stand him, and say he's obnoxious and bad tempered. He has no strategy and he's easily one of the ugliest players

Why do people think he played a great game? He didn't do anything! I know a lot of people like his personality, but in all 4 seasons, he had no strategy whatsoever.

He's a pretty bad strategist who has annoyed all the contestants every season he's played on. He also has a huge ego.

20 Mari Takahashi - Millennials vs Gen X

Was never robbed of anything. Deserved nothing but that voteoff and a memorable quote. Just tried too hard and cost her own game.

2nd Out. Doesn't matter what "potential" you may think the bitch has. She was 2ND OUT! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IF I CAMPAIGNED TO BRING BACK JENNY LANZETTI? Makes no damn sense. Plus all she did was think she was in control, then get blindsided. Seems like a nice person, but anyone who wants her back on the show is an idiot.

21 Zeke Smith - Game Changers

Zeke is transgender, fine. We don't need a whole segment at the reunion dedicated to this horrible player.

22 Keith Nale - San Juan del Sur

I just don't understand his appeal. His backwoods attitude is a little funny at first, but it grows old quickly and he shows no ability to take it home.

He didn't do anything statistic. He Screwed his alliance by being bad to the girls and then screwed reeds game with STICK TO THE PLAN.Natalie carried him to the finale 4

He's super entertaining but bad at the game. He has no strategy and was clueless in both of his seasons.

23 Joe Anglim - Cambodia

Fun player I understand his first return which I just thought of as bias from him having just played but I dint think he warranted a comeback in edge of extinction other than that they might have wanted him to to the challenges on the edge.

While Joe played a really great social game and seemed very friendly, I have no idea why he was so lovable. In my opinion, he was an Ozzy/ Malcolm wannabe (and I'm not a fan of Ozzy either) he didn't have much strategic game and it seemed that he put all his efforts in the challenges and none in the actual game.

24 Malcolm Freberg - Philippines, Caramoan, and Game Changers
25 Bob Crowley - Gabon

People forget that his final tribal council performance wasn't much better than Sugar's.
