Top 10 Ways to Improve Survivor
This show is awesome, my family loves it. However, it's been declining in quality recently. I know they'll never see this list, but I'd like to take in consideration how they could improve.I miss them going to new locations. I wish they would go back to Africa. Survivor: Gabon is probably one of the most underrated seasons.
I'm sick of seasons in Fiji and Cambodia. Can we have a season in Honduras? Or Japan? Or Vietnam?
Fiji is great, but it's like eating the same thing for dinner every night.
These themes are stupid, and the producers obviously refuse to acknowledge they've done similar ones before. Example: Worlds Apart was a knockoff of Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty.
Between seasons 1 and 20, there were four returning player seasons. Between seasons 21 and 35, there were seven returning player seasons. We need fewer returning players and more new players.
The original idol play formula was in Guatemala, where you had to play the idol before voting begins. They need to do this because then it doesn't interfere with other votes and won't result in ties.
Less is better in the case of twists. Otherwise, the audience expects it every season, and they're not surprised. As far as advantages? Just another way to justify producer interference.
These advantages are stupid and don't allow people to think for themselves in this game. It interferes with strategies and only pressures people more.
Replanting idols is just an excuse to make people feel more paranoid and just makes the game more crazy.
One-and-done. If you need more than one to save yourself, you probably aren't that good a player anyway.
Survivor's challenges are too focused on endurance, and they're not really fun to watch. Survivor needs to do fewer puzzles and more brawls.
I don't get why they don't show as many voting confessionals anymore. They were one of the best parts of the game!
I don't like the team reward challenges post-merge. Having individual rewards creates drama in that the winner has to choose a few other people to join them.
They should stop switching the tribes constantly. Maybe they should just not switch them at all! That would actually be good.
The Newcomers
Exile Island, Redemption Island, Edge of Extinction. Does anyone really go home anymore?
All the rewards are the same now. Resorts, nice foods... What about touring a nearby village and making an offer like in Survivor Africa? (Which actually went completely wrong.)
They can't ALL be blindsides. Just like the original "blindside" was a football quarterback sack where the QB didn't see it coming, there are times when the QB is sacked but knows it's coming. Stop trying to convince us that everything came out of nowhere. It's simply not reality!
This is a huge issue. One good example of that is Game Changers. Zeke (who is nowhere close to being a "game changer") was brought back over real game changers like Jay and Chris. We also get people like Troyzan, Culpepper, and Caleb? Over half the cast aren't "game changers." They rushed with casting there.
I don't think that season should have happened, especially since they had another all-returnee season three seasons earlier. Another example of this is Caramoan. Instead of getting real fan favorites back like Stephen, Erinn, and Shambo, we get people like Philip, Brandon, and Francesca. The only real favorites on the cast were Brenda and Malcolm.
It's also annoying when production tries to make a certain person win.
Ever since he was made a producer with god-like powers, the show has hit a seriously uninteresting phase. It's like the great coach who is made the general manager and all of a sudden isn't such a great coach anymore.
Survivor is a "family" show, right, Probst? (wink wink) And families backstab each other all the time, right, Probst? (wink wink)
Hey, let's put actors in the cast! Yeah, that'll make the show more like "reality!"
Wait... what?
