Top 10 Funniest Avatar: The Last Airbender Characters

The Top Ten
  1. Sokka

Sokka is a fictional character from Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He also appears in its sequel series, The Legend of Korra, through flashbacks and references. Sokka is known for his wit, strategic mind, and comedic personality.

    "It's a giant mushroom! MAYBE IT'S FRIENDLY!"

    "I have a natural curiosity."

    "That doesn't prove anything!"

"We are in enemy territory. Those are enemy birds."

"Drink cactus juice, it will quench ya. Nothing's quenchier. It's the quenchiest."

"This is Katara, my flying sister."

    "IT'S FLYING, IT'S FLYING, KATARA IT'S... I mean, big deal, it's flying."

    "Water Tribe!"

    "To the LIBRARY!"

There are so many hilarious Sokka quotes. I didn't even write down the best ones. Even if he does not mean to be funny, his facial expressions always get a laugh. Just watch the show - watch it again if you have already.

Provided all of the needed sarcasm. Always tried to look like he knew what he was doing, just for it to backfire in hilarious ways. Basically, he's a character a lot of us can see ourselves in.

  2. Iroh

Iroh is a major character in the Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, and a minor supporting character in The Legend of Korra. He is a retired general of the Fire Nation and the elder brother of Fire Lord Ozai. Iroh is beloved for his wisdom, kindness, and deep love of tea and music.

My favorite character: he's kind, serious, wise, and mature all at the same time! In the episode "The Tales of Ba Sing Se," Nickelodeon makes a tribute to Iroh's voice actor, Makoto Iwamatsu, through the song "Leaves from the Vine."

P.S. The song is really emotional - be FOREWARNED! He is amazing!

The General was funny in a sweet yet childish but rather mature kind of way - it was pretty good. Though when he got pissed, the sweetness just vanished, making him absolutely awesome!

He will be one of the funniest characters and wise at the same time. "Being sick of tea is like being sick of BREATHING."

  3. Toph

Toph Beifong is a fictional character from Nickelodeon's animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel, The Legend of Korra. She was voiced by Jessie Flower in the original series. In The Legend of Korra, the character was voiced by Kate Higgins and Philece Sampler.... read more

Toph is so sassy and confident, and her exchanges with Sokka make me smile every time.

Her blind jokes and sarcasm are the best. And her savageness.

"Do people really want to see TWO little girls out here?"

Her sarcasm is very refreshing. It's funny how she works up Sokka.

  4. Aang

Avatar Aang is a fictional character and the protagonist of Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen. Aang is the last surviving Airbender, a monk from the Southern Air Temple of the Air Nomads. As the Avatar, he is tasked with mastering all four... read more

One of the silliest, funniest characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

  5. Katara

Katara is a fictional character in Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, as well as in its sequel series The Legend of Korra. She is voiced by Mae Whitman. Katara is a skilled waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe who plays a key role in the fight against the Fire Nation.... read more

She's so hilarious it makes me wet myself. Her numerous jokes in each episode, etc.

  6. Momo

Momo was the best character. His dance topped it all off. I love the fact that he comes from my home country, Brabant.

He's so hilarious. How is Zuko higher than him? Vote for Momo.

The best one. No questions asked.

  7. Zuko

Prince Zuko is a fictional character in Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Zuko is a master firebender and the older brother of Azula. He is the son of Firelord Ozai and Princess Ursa.

Zuko's character arc centers on his journey to reclaim his honor. Initially... read more

Zuko combines Toph's sarcasm and Sokka's penchant for unfortunate situations with his very own brand of seriousness and social awkwardness. For instance, in "Zuko Alone," when Earth Kingdom soldiers are bullying Zuko because some random kid threw eggs at them, we get this exchange:

Soldier: "The egg had to come from somewhere!"

Zuko: "Maybe a chicken flew over."

Such a welcome bit of levity in what was otherwise a really sad episode! Zuko may not be as funny as Toph or Sokka individually, but he's definitely a point of humor in the show.

Zuko should never be on this list because I find nothing funny about him, and because I like serious characters better than funny ones due to my personality being like theirs.

If anyone asks me, I treat the word funny like an insult due to many people using inappropriate humor in this day and age, especially when they use it as an excuse to antagonize many people like what bullies do.

  8. Appa

  9. Cabbage Merchant

He was hilarious whenever they accidentally crushed his cabbages. It was funny to hear him scream, "MY CABBAGES!" every time they ran through and broke his stand.

Everyone, give him a vote for sympathy. He earned it.

So funny that I was laughing so hard the whole time.

  10. Foaming Mouth Guy

Although shown rarely, this guy was hilarious. Seriously, what's up with his mouth foaming up and him collapsing every time the Avatar showed up (or thought he did)? I think the Foaming Mouth Guy deserves to be in the top 10.

He gets me every time! Haters gonna hate, but I'm gonna laugh my butt off.

She is REALLY funny in "The Beach." "That's a sharp outfit, Chan. Careful, you could puncture the hull of an Empire-Class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea... Because it's so sharp."

(Kisses boy) "Together, you and I will become the most powerful couple in the world. We will dominate the Earth!"

"That's a sharp outfit, Chan. Careful, you could puncture the hull of an Empire-Class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea. Because it's so sharp."

Azula meets Aang: "Don't you see the resemblance? Oh, wait! 'I need to find the Avatar and restore my honor'... You can laugh, it's funny."

  16. Bumi

Oh, come on, this list was made for Bumi! Funniest by a landslide!

    "MMM! Rock candy!"

Laughs a lot. Kinda scary in a way, but funny at the same time.

  17. Mai

Mai. Ha ha. The funniest character on the list. Every time I see that smile, it makes my heart shine.

Zuko drops ice cream on Mai.

Mai: Thanks. This is really... Refreshing.

No one can do depressed and bored like Mai can.

  18. Ty Lee

Ty Lee is a fictional character appearing in the Nickelodeon animated TV show "Avatar: The Last Airbender," voiced by Olivia Hack. She is a cheerful and acrobatic ally of Princess Azula and a skilled martial artist. Ty Lee is known for her ability to block opponents' chi, temporarily paralyzing them... read more

She's really funny. "Oh, I get it. Good one, Azula."

  19. The Boulder

The Boulder: The Boulder feels conflicted about fighting a young, blind girl.

Toph: Sounds to me like you're scared, Boulder!

The Boulder: The Boulder is over his conflicted feelings, and now he's ready to bury you in a rockalanche!

I remember watching a commentary of his first episode where the creators said he was basically their version of The Rock.

I love how he speaks about himself in the third person.

  20. Combustion Man

He isn't funny. His name is funny because Sokka created it: Sparky Sparky Boom Man!

  21. Flopsie

  22. The Big Bad Hippo

  23. Ozai

Fire Lord Ozai is the main antagonist of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which aired from 2005 to 2008.
