Most Disappointing Teams of the 2019 NFL Season
These teams had high expectations in 2019. Some of these you might disagree with, but based off of my view, this may make things a lot more clear. Here are the most disappointing teams of the 2019 (100th) NFL Season. How is this possible? You got superstar talent, and you still can't win the division... unbelievable Browns. High expectations to win the AFC North, and make the playoffs. They did neither of those. Baker Mayfield is having a terrible second year, Odell Beckham is a non-factor. Offensive Line is atrocious, where was the secondary all season? The only bright sports were defensive line (expect for the previous game), linebackers looks good, and Nick Chubb is the leader in rushing yards. They should be better than 6 wins. Their talent is too good to miss the playoffs.
Jesus I can not believe I actually trusted the Browns
If your me, and you picked them to be big like I did well... anyways Da Bears were pretty much last years Jaguars team basically. Losing games mostly for poor play on offense (trubisky). Due to this Da Bears are already going to go in a different direction at quarterback. Defense was not as dominant and was more in the middle of the road. Thus my concerns became a reality.
The Dallas Cowboys are not playing to their full potential. They have beaten ONE team over.500, sadly that was against a team that will not make the playoffs. Every other win was against bad teams under.500. Dak Prescott is playing for a contract and everybody around him is letting em down. These guys are WAY better than this. The talent level is there to win a superbowl. Clearly there's a coaching mentality dilemma that's holding the team back and thus Jason Garrett deserves to be axed there's good reason why Jerry Jones is tired of this.
Super bowl hangover to the clouds of a team that probably didn't deserve to go to the super bowl many would argue. Sean McVay's offense was very stale in the follow up season. Jared Goff had a brutal year little help from his receiving core (minus Cooper Kupp). Defense was not as good as the previous season. You traded away two of your corner for one dynamic corner. Aaron Donald misses Ndamukong Suh clearly. Just a straight up disappointing team that looks more likely not making the playoffs after a crushing defeat to the Cowboys.
Oh hey and another team that like Eagles had a ton of injury problems from the start losing key pieces on defense, and on the offensive line. I fought they were still good enough talent wise to make the playoffs. I was dead wrong on that, Chargers are a turnover nightmare of unpredictability. They went from great team to losing some key pieces next off-season. Things could go downhill next season with the bar lower than say being picked for the super bowl via the last team I previously said.
Whatever the Falcons did in the 1st half it was terrible. Defense was giving up points left and right, and Dan Quinn to me should've been fired right then and there. Yet Arthur Blank let's him play out the season makes two coordinating changes. They beat Carolina twice, they beat New Orleans, and San Francisco on the road. They are the only positive things I could say because otherwise they lost to pretty much everybody else in embarrassing ways. The bar was a projected playoff to even winning the division which I didn't see myself.
A triple shot of owner incompetents (potentially), the Lions on paper had build a very interesting roster in 2019. Now we found out that there's definitely a New England tree problem. Now normally one team goes from last to 1st, but of course the Lions can't do that right. My way of thinking id this team would improve the mistakes made in year one under Patricia, but this looks bad. Now they pay for it not addressing the backup quarterback position correctly in Stafford's back issue coming back to him as mysterious said before the season started. Kerryon got hurt again, and now that you disposed of C.J. Anderson, and Zack Zenner you were left with a bigger hole of problems running the football. Sure Scarborough may have been decent, but still now you need to get another tail back. Here's the biggest reason why the Lions to me are a disappointment the defensive line assembled had potential to be top 10 good. Instead were bottom ten how is it possible? You got Trey Flowers, Mike ...more
Carson Wentz's play has been far disappointing of all the starting quarterbacks. Right away they lost to the likes of Falcons, Lions, Dolphins. At the same time they beat Packers, and Bills a couple of playoff teams. This philly team is so weird, but I'd argue even more hurt than last year puts them more low on the list knowing they were not the favorite for me to win the NFC East, but for one USA Today though picking them to go to the super bowl I was not gonna go that far.
Speaking of owner incompetents here's the Washington Redskins. Now on paper this team actually had potential to be good. Instead Jay Gruden said he never wanted Dwayne Haskins, and got himself fired early in the season. Things went downhill as they wasted this talented defensive front they had built around Ryan Kerrigan. The running duo was being wasted. Worst of all Trent Williams is victimized by not even getting traded out of the organization.
I never got the hype around the Jets to start with. Some experts had this team as a possible borderline/better than five wins. Well there at five wins, but sure don't look like one losing to the likes of Bengals, and Dolphins in the season. I think things start to be shaky when they brought in Adam Gase and fired the GM. Woody Johnson clearly doesn't know what he is doing. Oh and do I need to mentioned the Sam Darnold has mono storyline.
