Top Ten Football Players That Should Have Won the Ballon D'Or

The Top Ten
1 Diego Maradona Diego Armando Maradona (October 30, 1960 - November 25, 2020) was an Argentine professional footballer. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, he was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award. Maradona was given the nickname "El Pibe de Oro" ("The Golden Boy"). He was known for the "Goal of the Century" and the "Hand of God" goal. He died of cardiac arrest on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60

He physically couldn't have won it because up until 2007 only European club players were able to win it. If Maradona had been eligible during his time he would have indefinitely been awarded at least once.
France Football, re-evaluated the results to make all players eligible and Maradonna was announced as a 'worthy winner' in the years, 1986 and 1990.

Additionaly to those mentioned by PARASN2000 and with all the respect to 'France Football', my humble opinion is that Maradona could have been a 'worthy winner' two more years, 1979 and 1980. Both years was officially elected as best South American player and deserved the trophy more than the European winners (Keegan, Rummenigge). Especially in 1979, he lead the Youth National team of his country to the title of World Champion playing spectacular.
