Top Ten Reasons Why Fake News is Better Than Real News

We've all seen fake news.

Whether it's a story on your local channel about a group of hapless FB users who were tricked into yet another political scandal, or joke article on the Internet taken WAAAY to seriously, fake news alters our lives in a lot of ways.

On this list, I take a DIFFERENT perspective on fake news.
The Top Ten
1 It's great to read for fun

Yep, It truly is. But you can't believe in that stuff because it might never happen. or sometimes they did in the future. Well, It can be fun to read fake news but real news would be informative. - roblox connor4808

Well, believe it or not, the world isn't about fun. We're a minute till midnight and it's a horror show out there and we need to know what's happening

It truly is. Try clicking an article that you know is 100% fake just by looking at the title.

2 "Fake news" is usually more successful than "real" news

Fake news articles get MUCH more attention that real news articles.

3 "Real" news, while being factually correct, doesn't offer much entertainment to the reader

Article #1: Trump talks foreign relations with China
Article #2: Trump ceasing plans for Border Wall after discovery of rare fruit in Mexico; fruit could be sold for millions

Be honest. Which article would you rather read? Article #2, am I right?
News organizations need to WAKE UP. They should've realized by now that people aren't going to read a long, drawn out article about the economical position of France compared to DC. People want to read something that EXCITES them, as well as informs them.
THAT'S why people turn to fake news--Article #2.
"It's more fun, and hey, it may ACTUALLY be true, since humans have not discovered EVERYTHING. Besides, not everybody wants the wall, so I'll click the article to find out how he's going to stop it! " Even though it only seems to take a millisecond, something like this goes inside the head of EVERY person who clicks a fake news article. "It MAY be fake, but it's more engaging, uses language like I would use everyday, and ...more

That's like saying Wikipedia is good for being misleading and better factual sites aren't because they don't mislead.

4 "Real" news corporations only do it for money

On T.V., ads come on every 5 minutes. Or they'll give you a story that, for once, CAPTURES YOUR INTEREST, and then you'll have to wait through 4 long stories and 10 commercial breaks to see it...only to find out that the anchor only shows one short clip of the story.
At least fake news sites are doing the news because they ENJOY it (trolling), not because they want money.

5 Fake news helps you figure out who the stupid people are

Well, in terms of politics, this really is a matter of opinion (there's no doubt trump's stupid though).

Even though before I read this list, I knew who the stupid ones were.

This is a great answer

Like this list.

6 The Onion shows us that "fake" news CAN be educative and informative

The BEST fake news site...EVER! I gained more political knowledge from it than NASA, National Geographic, Sesame Street, the History Channel, and Bill Nye the Science Guy COMBINED!

7 "Real" news has turned into trashy celebrity news

"Awww! How cute! Somebody in this year's most overrated movie, who we DON'T know personally, has given birth, and now we must smile at their bundle of (sadly future drug-addict due to the pressures of their parent's/their fame) joy! 😊"

Seriously, no gives a crap. The worst is when they report on some celebrity nobody knows about. If you're gonna give us some low-quality news, at least do it right. No one cares if a D-list, I-list, C-list, or K-list celebrity goes to a bar that some A-list celebrity went to 5 months ago.

8 "Real" news doesn't give enough time for their reporters to collect a story, so the reporters have to "wing it" on some articles

Trying to fill the list up lol

9 People like the The National Enquirer, and it is fake news

I first saw the National Enquirer in one of those hanging wire basket things at Walmart. Just by looking at the cover, I could TELL it was fake news. It was some Hillary-Trump email scandal about them working together to create some secret documents, and I LOL'D so hard. The Nat. Enquirer puts HUGE headlines, and adds uneccessary pictures to cover up for their lack of info.
Like they'd put, "[Event] happened just after Bill Clinton walked his weiner dog." then they'd put a picture of the dog from 2008. Like, WHO THE HELL CARES? Not to mention, the picture is old, and if you Google, "Bill Clinton weiner dog" something else might show up. (If ya'll know what I mean)

Despite all these downsides, people STILL listen to the Nat. Enq. We have to applaud them for bridging the gap -- mixing real AND fake news, and STILL nobody has noticed!
A big to the National Enquirer for accomplishing such a hard, grueling task that 99.9% of people don't even want to WADE ...more

This is so true. People call CNN fake news? Look at this magazine and decide.

10 "Real" news TV anchors are boring

It's always some gray-haired guy talking in a monotone voice. Like, "BOI. You had enough money to retire when you were TWENTY YEARS OLD! Use this opportunity to GET OFFA MY T.V. SCREEN, BECAUSE I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE GDP OF Microsoft! If I wanted to know it, I could just Google it! "

Clarification for all you old peeps :) 👉Not everything old must go, but some things do. This is why I like the local morning shows. They have young, lively anchors who don't have the slightest memory of Julius Caesar's assassination.

TL; DR: The news would be fun with more people who are "in the times."
