Top Ten Most Misunderstood Fictional Characters
The Top Ten
Why the heck is Trixie at #1? He is nothing but a bratty, arrogant unicorn pony who boasts constantly about being the "great and powerful" and speaks in third-person. She's definitely not misunderstood, since many people know who she is and what her character is. Karel from Fire Emblem, on the other hand, is far more misunderstood than Trixie will ever be and I think he should be #1 on this list.
I personally like her boastfulness. - Pony
Mind you would add images to every character on this list, like how this one has an image? I want everyone to see who they are.
I think she's so irritating and funny at the same time. - RockFashionista
I hate all the adult jokes, "cupcakes" etc on a KID show. It stinks..
She's not a troll, a molester, or even a dictator. - Pony
I love Celestia so much she's my favorite pony, and it's sad to say but she is deffunately miss understood. Just because she vanished Luna to the moon once she vanishes everything to the moon, but also NO ONE EVER THINKS OF ALL THE PAIN IT CAUSED HER AND SHE WAS CONSTANTLY REMINDED THAT SHE HAD TO BANISH HER OWN SISTER
Even though I dislike MLP, Princess Celestia is a nice pony, but her sister is a better character than her. - HowToTrainYourDragonFan1001
Often hated by some of the Sonic fandom for being Sonic's rival in the classic console wars, or even no reason at all. Seriously. If it weren't for Mario, there would be no Sonic.
He's not a psychopath! - Pony
Did you know that his ego gets in the way of everything? - Pony
Some people don't know what gender Pyro is. - Pony
Dr. Eggman has diabetes
Some fans see her as a jerk or as Sonic's love interest when she's none of those. Being hot-headed is not the same as being a jerk.
Agreed, she is not a heartless bully. Just hot-headed. There's a difference.
The TopTens Hasn't Been Too Kind To Her
Most Of The TopTens Sees Her As A Heartless Bully.
But I Think She Is Not A Bully At All, Sure She Can Be A Little Mean Sometimes, But It's All Unintentional.
Bullying Is Planned
Rainbow Dash Did Not Plan On Making Fluttershy Cry.
All The Times She Was A Bit Of A Jerk Were Not Planned At All.
Squidward is like a cousin to grumpy cat
In The Movie They Are Seen As Not Happy And Miserable, But Then At The End, The Trolls Teach Them To Be Happy
People see him as an annoying snot who deserves to be shot, yet Slippy manages to be a helpful teammate of Fox when it comes to finding out enemy weaknesses. He is not that bad.
My take On Slippy
Annoying But Very Helpful
She's not misunderstood. She's overrated. People wanted her to be in Alola to get together with Ash, but Ash doesn't return her feelings. He's too dense - RisingMoon
You all know that this was coming. Aside from stealing the spotlight from other Sonic characters, Shadow is also misunderstood by many because he is wrongfully seen and mistaken as an emo, a 'Blood Knight', or a creepy serial killer with no remorse. Last time I have checked, he is none of those. He does care for others that he considers to be his 'best friend' (i.e. Maria, Rouge, Omega), and even if he turned into an anti-hero in later installments, he's still Sonic's archrival.
I also don't want Shadow being similar or compared to Karel from Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword because Karel is a different kind of anti-hero (one that was never villainous and was on the hero side all along) than Shadow is. If any character Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword were to parallel Shadow, it would be Jaffar, not Karel. (Why? cause both Shadow and Jaffar started out as villainous or on the villains' team at first before joining the heroes, and both had a female best friend)
I hate when people call Lars a douche or gross because of the way he looks and acts. Yes, he may act like an douche sometimes but he's just doesn't know how to treat people and his so obsessed with fitting in that he does stupid stuff. - JelloLife
He is not mean
Most people mistaken Tails as an annoying character when he isn't. He is an awesome, intelligent and helpful ally and sidekick of Sonic.
Tails is also my favorite character in Sonic. Seriously, he's not annoying.
No being misunderstood here. Gilda. Is. MEAN!
Mistaken as a villain when the fact that he is an anti-hero on the heroes' side all along.
Fire Emblem Warriors is actually being made into a game for real, for the Switch and 3DS. Although I can pray that it will be good.
Anyway, back on the subject, I still hate it when people demonize Karel and see him as something he's not. In fact, making him an antagonist is really harmful to his characterization knowing how much development he's been through between the games he's in. Anti-hero yes, but never a villain. Get your minds right, folks.
I personally hope that Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade gets a remake soon. The future might be looking bright since, from what I've seen, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia has been doing very well in Japan with a high score rating by Famitsu so far, so I can hope for the best results.
He was never a villain, people.
I can't tell you how much people constantly exaggerate Karel's character and see him as something he never was, it's ridiculous. One person posted a topic on the Serene's Forest Forums (or was it GameFAQs? I forgot) about how would you handle a 'Fire Emblem Warriors' if they made the game a la Hyrule Warriors, and the spoiler section said that Karel could "Depending on whether he's being the sword demon or sword saint he could also switch between team hero and villain"... WHAT THE ****?
Excuse me for the censored cuss word, but it bothers me so much that they see Karel as a villain. He never had such role in any of the games. He always has been on "team hero", and never on "team villain". His role as the Sword Demon in Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword was an anti-hero all along and never sided with the villains at all. Did the fandom really lose their minds over the years? The Sword Demon was an anti-hero, and the Sword Saint is a goody two-shoes. Not all anti-heroes started out as ...more
I think I know why he's here. Mainly cause people constantly said that he's a girl despite being referred as "him" or maybe people(pokemon fans) view him as a Ninetails ripoff(which is stupid)
Often seen as a dumb character when he was never dumb. Just naive or gullible which is not the same as being dumb.
Silver is not a terrible character by any means, yet peeps think he's one because of the game he made his debut in. (Sonic 2006, a widely hated game by many, but really isn't as bad a game as many think) They also think he's on drugs because of the shape of his quills, which to them resembles a cannabis leaf. (but he isn't on drugs or anything) Silver is like the Sonic equivalent of Trunks from Dragon Ball Z, plus his psychic powers shows that he still can be cool.
He Should Be Number 1 Because He Has More Hurtful And Cruel Its No Use Memes Than Princess Celestia's Troll Memes Combined
Very Smart Character In Reality
Krystal has been ruined by the furry fandom big time with their disgusting fanfics and art they make of her, it's even worse if they have nothing to do with Star Fox, despite Krystal being from Star Fox. If you have played the Star Fox games she's in, then you will find out that she is absolutely nothing like what furries thought of her to be.
Her hatebase likes to blow things way out of proportion.
It seems that not everyone is familiar with F-Zero, sadly. Thus, most people nowadays know him more from as the fighter from Super Smash Bros. who goes "FALCON PUNCH! " on everyone as opposed to the main protagonist from the F-Zero games. It also don't help that Nintendo hasn't made a new F-Zero game in AGES, so hopefully they will soon if they get enough fan support to do so. It's really a good series, and at least the games are available on the Virtual Console, so that's better than nothing.
Simply because of the whole "Wait, Metroid is a girl? " fiasco people had for years. No, her name is not Metroid, and yes, she's a girl. The game's name actually came from one of the enemies she fights. (the one who appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. no less) Not every game series is named after the protagonist, you know what I mean.
Samus is a girl
Her name is not metroid
It's like how people think link is zelda
I love the fact that there is a fat girl character that everybody loves but I have noticed that a lot of people talk crap about Pearl while they praise amethyst and garnet. They all should get love. Most people call Pearl bossy and the fun ruiner. She may seem like it but she has her reasons. - JelloLife
She has the best weapon and she is bossy and a fun ruined because she has OCD
Bird Mom :P
I put Sarah Jessica Parker's 1986 character on here because while I completely ADORE her, I really don't understand her. If you've seen this movie, notice a few things you haven't noticed before, like how Carolyn seems a bit abrasive when we first meet her. But at the same time, she's sweet and kind hearted and intelligent, and is reluctantly willing to defy her bosses at NASA in order to help out a friend (who just happens to be a twelve year old time traveling navigator). She is absolutley beautiful and gorgeous, and I'd just LOVE to look like her! So yeah, kudos to Sarah J Parker's 21 year old self, and I really do love her like a sister. I just fail to understand her character completely. - RockFashionista
She isn't from the future either, it is confirmed that Blaze is in fact a native of the Sol Dimension and not the future.
She is just a video game character in the (later) Sonic the Hedgehog games starting with Sonic Rush for the Nintendo DS. Has nothing to do with vintage cartoons.
Mistaken as a classic cartoon character when he is just a video game icon. Yes, Sonic had animated series, but so did a lot of video game franchises. No matter what anyone says, Sonic will always be a gaming icon to me. The fandom also ruined Sonic's rep so it's been hard for the general public to see Sonic as what it is, rather than what it isn't.
Love the games, hate the fanbase.
She may be creepy but she's actually the most misunderstood character in Moomin.
She’s just lonely - blackflower
Zoroark and it's pre-evo Zorua are mistaken for being based on wolves and werewolves when they are actually based on the kitsune, like the Vulpix/Ninetales line are, instead.
It's a little fox, you peeps. There is no "wolf" in Zorua at all.
I also hate it when fans pair her up with Tails and say that "it's true that Tails and Cream shown romantic interest towards each other! I ship them! TailsXCream forever! ", which is so wrong. To be honest, Tails and Cream NEVER shown any romantic interest towards each other in any of the games, comics or shows, and fans do nothing but make junk up. They may interacted at least once, but none of it was romantic interaction and I can easily imagine Tails saying the same things to Sonic or someone like he did to Cream, anyway.
She...Is...NOT...SEXY. God, why do people think she is when she is just six years old?! It doesn't help that she's a rabbit and that her name is 'Cream', and this could be why the public thinks rather disturbing thoughts about her. If she was a different species and didn't had a name that sounded fitting for "Rule 34", then she would be more tolerable and much safer from the dirty minds out there.
She isn't named "Cream" for the reason that you think, peeps. Her name comes from the fact that she likes ice cream. (or cream cheese, in contrast to her Chao companion, whose name is Cheese)
She only appeared in SatAM, the comics and a cameo in Sonic Spinball, which was made in a different time. None of the recent Sonic games or shows feature her or the rest of the Freedom Fighters and other characters exclusive to the shows and comics, save for Sonic Boom. The whole Sonic 'shipping war between Sally Acorn and Amy Rose doesn't really help that much, either. Most fans are more familiar with Amy than with Sally nowadays.
Which is the one true pairing? Rouge with Shadow, or Rouge with Knuckles? Last time I have checked, there is NO canon Sonic shipping in any of the Sonic games, T.V. shows or comics. Although a few are implied, such as Sonic/Sally in SatAM, Tails/Cosmo in Sonic X and Sonic/Amy in Sonic Boom, but none of them were serious romance. And most importantly, Tails and Cream shown absolutely no romantic interest towards each other. Anyway, back on the subject... Just because Rouge the Bat is a flirt, doesn't mean you have to ship her with every fictional character in existence.
He is a GREAT hero. Deserves more credit.
Awesome hero of a good video game franchise. While poor Fox may not be as praised or well known as Mario or Link, he still has potential to become a major icon for Nintendo in the future. I can hope so, because after all, the best-reviewed game in the series, Star Fox 64, was innovative at the time for introducing the rumble feature that is common in most game controllers today.
What angers me is when Fox is mistaken as someone who is similar to Simba from The Lion King (which I hate that character and the whole movie he comes from with a burning passion) when they're nothing alike. Fox didn't start out bratty like Simba did, that's for sure.
Dexter Is Hilarious
Daxter is, in fact, an Ottsel, which is a fictional cross between an otter and a weasel. Although he was originally human, Daxter became an Ottsel after falling into dark eco in the beginning of The Precursor Legacy. G'day.
Often mistaken as annoying or a Timon ripoff when he is none of those. First, he is a fictional weasel/otter hybrid, not a meerkat. And finally, second, Daxter can be useful, helpful, and is actually very funny.
P.S. I dislike Timon, and The Lion King as a whole, with a burning passion.
Often hated by fans who prefer her pink-furred appearance in Star Fox 64/Zero when the fact is that Command! Katt is still the same character she was before. (i.e. her theme returns, her ship is still called the Catspaw, the list goes on)
Often mistaken by fans as Fox McCloud's love interest when she never shown any romantic feelings for him anywhere in Command. Being the children of the original Star Fox team members (James McCloud and Peppy Hare) doesn't make them a couple either, so if that were the case, then their relationship would be platonic, not romantic. Let's not forget that Lucy has been good friends with Krystal and felt sad when Fox and Krystal broke up, so she's like a shipper on deck for the two.
Same Reasons As Rainbow Dash
Nikki, Kaltag and Star are often mistaken as ripoffs of the hyenas from The Lion King when they're not, as there is no proof of them being ripoffs. You also gotta admit that Steele treated these three poorly, no wonder why Balto saved them and let them help him bring the medicine back to a town full of sick children.
I think the film would've been better if Steele only had Nikki and Kaltag on his side at first along with a number of unnamed sled dogs. I find Star to be a ridiculously dumb and annoying character, and not all henchmen are trios. (and of course, not all henchmen are hyenas, either. But that's a different topic) This is why so many fans compare the trio of the first Balto film with the abominations known as Shenzi, Banzai and Ed of The Lion King fame so much.
