1 Zdeno Chara Zdeno Chára (born 18 March 1977) is a Slovak professional ice hockey defenseman who serves as captain of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He won the James Norris Memorial Trophy while playing for the Bruins in the 2008–09 season. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 m) tall, Chára is the tallest person ever to play in the NHL. He is also the second European-born and raised captain to win the Stanley Cup (in 2011), and the first born and trained in a country within the Iron Curtain. As of the 2019-20 season, Chára is the tallest and oldest active NHL player as well as the last defenseman to have played in the NHL in the 1990's.

He was one of the fastest rising stars of this decade, Spezza arrived in the NHL in 2002 after a spectacular stay at the Ontario Hockey League that saw him played at their ALL-Star Game at only 15 years old.
In his rookie season, he revived the Ottawa Senators and took the team to the Eastern Conference Finals and fell one game short of reaching The Stanley Cup. For his efforts, he scored 21 points while splinting time with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL. We knew he was gonna be something special.

He was also a gentleman on and off the ice as he won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy 4 times. He can produced great assists (604), and a very good scorer (314) . What a great player.
