Top 10 Most Forgotten Nintendo Characters

The Top Ten
  1. Roy

  2. Pauline

Pauline is a fictional character who first appeared in the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong. She was originally introduced as the damsel in distress who must be rescued by Mario from the giant ape. Pauline has since reappeared in several Nintendo titles, including Super Mario Odyssey, where she serves as... read more

Most people forgot Pauline because she appears in Donkey Kong, the Super Mario Super Show, and DS Donkey Kong. But here's Rosalina, only in two games, and she sucks but is everyone's favorite.

Pauline was the first Mario female, starting as a pixel character, and now she's animated. But why did she get lost? Oh yeah, because Bowser stole Donkey Kong's place.

I only know Pauline because she appeared in Mario Odyssey for a bit.

  3. Mike Jones

If you don't know who this is, I'll fill you in. He's the main character of a game called StarTropics on the NES. He was planned to be in Brawl and even had official artwork, but was then dropped because StarTropics wasn't released in Japan. He hasn't appeared in a game for over 20 years. That is a truly forgotten character.

StarTropics is such a fun game. It's a shame he's so forgotten. We haven't even gotten other StarTropics characters or even the slightest references in any of Nintendo's recent stuff.

  4. Toad

Toad, known in Japan as Kinopio, is a major character in the Mario Bros. franchise. He assists Princess Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom and first appeared in Super Mario Bros. (1985). Toad is a recurring character in many Mario games, including New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad... read more

  5. Daisy

Princess Daisy is a fictional character in the Mario series of video games, in which she is the princess of the fictional region of Sarasaland. I remember she was an awesome character. So sad that's all I know.

  6. Boo

Boo is the most epic Mario character. I love his ability to frighten Mario and to turn invisible.

  7. Krystal

Krystal is a fictional character from the Star Fox video game series by Nintendo. She first appeared in Star Fox Adventures in 2002 as a telepathic blue vixen from the planet Cerinia. Krystal later became a member of the Star Fox team and developed a strong following among fans.

Did everyone forget that cowardly blue fox? Maybe she's not as popular as I thought she was.

"Babies, I'm a sexy playable character. Your loss."

  8. Prince of Hyrule

This guy is hardly mentioned, and not a lot of people know of him.

  9. Chunky Kong

Chunky Kong is one of the five playable characters in the Nintendo 64 game Donkey Kong 64. He is known for his large size and super strength, which are used to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Chunky is the older brother of Kiddy Kong and a cousin to Dixie and Tiny Kong.

We all know Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, maybe Dixie and Cranky, but NO ONE remembers Chunky. I knew who Lanky and Tiny were, but it wasn't until a year ago that I knew Chunky Kong is a thing. And you know what? I like him. He has a funny name, a funny personality, and he is super strong - stronger than DK himself. Not to mention that he punches the moon out of orbit! If Chunky is stronger than DK, he could straight up punch Earth and send our planet into destruction. So yeah, look up this ape and you'll probably enjoy him.

  10. Tin Star

Robot cowboy Super Scope game on the SNES. Fantastic soundtrack.

The character himself isn't that forgotten, but more his series in general.

I'm personally a big fan of F-Zero. But the series has been forgotten.

  16. Ness

Ness is a male video game character who made his first appearance in the 1995 Super Nintendo Entertainment System game EarthBound, known in Japan as Mother 2. He is the main protagonist of the game and uses psychic abilities in battle. Ness later became a recurring playable character in the Super Smash... read more

It was because of Nintendo's "This Game Stinks" commercial that EarthBound did not sell well. Had Nintendo made a better commercial, it would've perhaps been one of the best-selling 90s video games!

Even I could have made a better advertisement!

The only reason the series gained the spotlight is because of the Super Smash Bros. series, from which I also found out about EarthBound and the Mother series.

I want to see anyone in real life who's beaten EarthBound or heck, even heard of EarthBound.

  17. Toadette

Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube game Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in 2003. Since then, she has appeared in multiple Mario titles, often as a playable character.

  18. Takamaru

  19. Pappy Van Poodle

  20. R.O.B.

I don't even think he has his own game. I've only seen him in Super Smash Ultimate.

  21. Ayumi Tachibana

She was planned for Super Smash Bros. Melee at one point but was rejected.

  22. Geno

  23. Error (The Legend of Zelda)

  24. Lucas

If it wasn't for that godawful EarthBound commercial, the series would've sold a lot better, and Mother 3 might have even been released outside Japan!

  25. Pit (Kid Icarus)

Pit is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Kid Icarus video game series developed by Nintendo. He made his first appearance in Kid Icarus for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, followed by Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy in 1991. Pit also appears as a playable... read more
