Top Ten Most Over Marketed Franchises of All Time

I hate it when people market franchises like they are gold!
The Top Ten
1 Frozen

The movie was good, but it also got us thousands of fangirls who would treat anything with a Frozen sticker like gold. Not only that, but Disney is making millions off of Olaf, Elsa, etc. , in addition to the money they made from the movie. Just, stop it Disney.

This movie has to be the most annoying movie, the only reason cause it's 2015 and I see people still singing it, will you all stop and move on?

Could not agree with you more on this. The media is forcing everyone to love Frozen like a religion. It's really nothing radical.

Definitely. Can't go 5 seconds without someone screaming "Let it Go" into your ear.

2 One Direction

This God-awful boy band crowded the streets of New York with their posters, albums, and other crap of theirs. They now have thousands of fangirls who, honestly, would kiss a standee of Harry Styles. If they didn't have that merchandise, they just might have a reputation.

3 Duck Dynasty Duck Dynasty was an American reality television series on A&E that portrayed the lives of the Robertson family, who became successful from their family-operated business, Duck Commander.

Duck Dynasty was an amazing show, with the humor and the characters. But one day, A&E's producer woke up and said "Hey, let's crowd Wal-Mart with our merchandise! " Ever since that day, they ruined the show. You can't walk 3 miles without seeing something of Duck Dynasty now.

4 Adventure Time Adventure Time is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. The series follows the adventures of a boy named Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio)—a dog with the magical power to change shape and size at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. Throughout the show, they interact with the other main characters Princess Bubblegum (voiced by Hynden Walch), the Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny), and Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Olivia Olson). The series is based on a short produced for Nicktoons and Frederator Studios' animation incubator series Random! Cartoons. ...read more.

I can't count how much crap I've seen from this show in middle school. At least there isn't as much in high school.

5 Regular Show Regular Show is an American animated television series created by J. G. Quintel for Cartoon Network that premiered on September 6, 2010. The series revolves around the lives of two friends, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby—both employed as groundskeepers at a local park.

I do like the show, but I do agree they over marketed this franchise.

See what I said for number 5.

6 The Kardashians

People are trying to push this family onto the cameras and call it a show... won't work for me. That, and the KIM KARDASHIAN GAME!

7 The Annoying Orange

The YouTube series sucked... I officially hate the idiot who wanted it to be a T.V. show.

8 SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator the late Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. SpongeBob is currently the most popular show on Nickelodeon, as well as the longest running show, running for 23 years, and is beginning its 13th season. The show revolves around a sea sponge called SpongeBob SquarePants and his adventures under the sea. The show is considered to be one of the best Nickelodeon and cartoon shows of all time.

Viacom one day realized- "What 9 year old doesn't like SpongeBob? " Then t proceeded to filling every store with their products.

9 Legos

As proven by everyone insisting on The Lego Movies absolute, utter greatness and Cartoon Network's reliance on Lego-based shows.

10 Name-Brand Clothing

Ever seen those shirts with a big Nike logo? All they do is advertise their product even more.

The Contenders
11 Despicable Me

Those minions are pretty entertaining in the movie, but they're highly tedious outside of it.

How did I forget the minions? Can't walk 10 steps without seeing a minion shirt.

12 Star Wars

The three most overmarketed franchises are (opinionated): Frozen, Minions, Star Wars. Do I like them? Yes. They are all good movies, and Frozen is my favorite. I would be least annoyed by Frozen, because I actually love it. But it's still on everything. Minions is annoying because of generic, unfunny Facebook posts. But it's in a lot of places. Star Wars is the one I see every 2 seconds. But they are all great movies, but just need to lower down on how much we see them.

I know I'm going to be hated for this. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars as much as the next guy-the new movie is AWESOME-but, let's be honest, is it really hard to walk 2 steps ANYWHERE without seeing something from it? Still, not as bad as Frozen.

Whoever put this I swear to god, its damn star wars u can't just not put it on its literally platinum

13 Sonic the Hedghog
14 Angry Birds
15 5 Seconds Of Summer 5 Seconds of Summer are an Australian pop-rock band from Sydney, Australia, that formed in 2011. The group were originally YouTube celebrities, posting videos of themselves covering songs from various artists during 2011 and early 2012. They rose to international fame while touring with One Direction on the Take Me Home Tour.

Seriously?! Not even one good song!

16 Monopoly
17 Mario (from the Mario Series) Mario, originally named Jumpman, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, created by the creative director and video game designer at Nintendo of Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario has appeared in almost every Mario game, including games in spin-off series as a playable character, with few exceptions including New Super Luigi U, Luigi's Mansion games, Yoshi's Island games, and similar counterparts. He is the most iconic character in video game history and is Nintendo's unofficial mascot. His franchise has grown to be the most successful video game franchise of all time.
