In Pokemon Sword and Shield, there is to be a new feature dynamaxing. It basically just makes the pokemon bigger

1 Wailord Wailord, known in Japan as Whaloh, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It is a Water Type Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is the evolved form of Wailmer. When it is jumping out of the water, it makes a giant splash due to its large size. It can dive deep at 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) in one breath. It lives in the sea in large groups called pods. A pod of Wailord travels together in order to search for food, and is able to eat large quantities at one time, such as schools of Wishiwashi. When a Wailmer is attacked by its predators Sharpedo or Dhelmise, its whole pod works to defend it.
