Top 10 Reasons Why School Should Be Optional
-
Not everything students learn in school is necessary
Nothing taught in school is necessary unless it's a "life skill" you seem to need to be likable. I'll teach you the truth: you coast through life, do as little as possible, and leach off the hardworking. That is why schools and colleges should be shut down. College is a waste of money and time.
Ha, they do have educational websites.
School became compulsory in the Victorian era. Not everyone can get life skills from parents. Schools aren't supposed to teach life skills? Life skills stopped being taught around the 80s or 90s.
Life skills can't just be taught through math, as not everyone is a math genius.

Some teachers don't care about their students
I have had a lot of very nice and caring teachers, but only a few who don't care.
My math teacher once flipped my buddy off.
-
Students could spend more time with their families
As a child or young adult, you spend more time at school than at home.
This is a very true point. I want more quality time with my grandmother.
Unless you go to a boarding school (and there's probably a reason for that), school isn't 24/7.

Some students have a hard time in school
-
There are bullies in school
Either fight back, tell a teacher, or ignore those pricks.
-
Most students forget what they learn in school
Yes, it did to me. I learned physics and chemistry in high school, but when I went to university and took a liberal arts major (social studies), I literally didn't remember anything from those subjects that I had studied for almost two years.
It's true because I'm a 10th grader, and I don't remember half of the things they tell me. If school focused on topics we enjoyed or that caught our attention, then maybe we would all want to go to school.
It's so true. I'm in a Swedish school, and I forget a lot of things. They try to force us to learn more things than anyone can, then they give you a test on something else.

School causes a lot of stress
-
Teachers don't understand their students
They were students once as well. They understand.
Most of them care about money. It's like, why does it matter if students learn it or not?
This is true, as not all of them know what we might be going through.
-
Students would not need to worry about popularity
-
People spend a significant portion of their lives in school
Homework is too much with too little time to actually finish it, unless you want to sacrifice your sleep time.
My English teacher said, "You spend 60% of your childhood with your classmates," but all of them are annoying.
I wish to spend more time with my friends than sitting in a room for 7 hours a day.

Some people don't want to learn
Some people just don't want to learn, so be it. If they don't want to put in the work to get a decent job, let them pay the price. School wastes too many resources on them anyway.
I didn't want to relearn shapes, so I did algebra instead. The work I got from the new teachers at Vine is too easy for me, and I think it's time for some hard work.

Lunch tastes better at home
I meant the freshness of home-cooked food.
Well, that is true for my school.

School is a waste of time
We wake up at the crack of dawn just to sit in a building for 6-8 hours, having to learn the same things and see the same people over and over again. A huge chunk of what we learn is useless unless you want to join those professions. And when we come home, we get 3-6 hours of work.
Seriously, 8 hours in a class, summarizing, rewriting, and relearning the same stuff? Some of which we don't need? No thanks.
I hate how you spend 5 days a week and 6 hours a day at school, and then you have homework for 3 hours. Sometimes you even have homework during weekends when you're supposed to be relaxing and/or doing stuff you actually enjoy.
-
School is similar to sending students to prison for 7-8 hours
-
School keeps students from enjoying their childhood
I want to enjoy being a kid, not waste my life at school.
-
School is all work and no play
Instead of five days at school and two weekend days, there should be four days of school and three weekend days.
Once you get into middle school, it's like you'll never have any fun. At least there are dances.
-
School can cause depression
I was depressed because of school for many years.
Studies show that kids who are too pressured about school do consider suicide.
-
Students are forced to take classes they know they will not major in
I hate how boring Social Studies is. Obviously, I won't major in it, so why am I forced to take it?
Yep, true. Only 2 or 3 will like to do something in the useless classes.
-
Schools don't let students do the work they want to do
-
Sometimes students don't feel safe at school
Yeah, I have been bullied by lots of people.
-
