Best Football Leagues of All Time
Most competitive league from top to bottom while still being at the highest level. Every match is exciting because you never know who will win, unlike the very boring La Liga, which is the same old routine over and over. Best football to watch on the planet by far. No contest at all.
Anyone who tells you differently is a fool. La Liga is for fair-weather fans who like watching all-star teams dominate everyone. Ever met anyone outside of Spain who claims to like someone other than Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid? No, you have not. It's for fair-weather fans, and it's boring. Premiership is where it's at, as we all know.
La Liga might be a slow-paced game, but watch out. A low-placed team can thrash most teams in the world. And, of course, our Real, Barca, and Atletico are simply the world's best. Only competition to them are Bayern, who are the prominent winners of the Bundesliga.
La Liga has changed throughout the years. The title races are a lot closer, and it isn't just Barcelona and Real Madrid. Other clubs are showing their worth, making the league a lot more lively and not as predictable.
The stats speak for themselves. Most number of Champions League and other FIFA tournaments won by teams playing in La Liga.
The thrill of the world's best players clashing in El Clasico or Derby Madrid is sufficient to claim La Liga is exciting. The point gap between the top three teams is much narrower than in the Premier League.
In the Bundesliga, there is more attacking and defending than in other football leagues.
Plenty of competition in this league, like the EPL, unlike La Liga. Real, Atletico, and Barca? I mean, I love watching El Clasico, but that's about it.
How is this not above the Indian League? With so many incredible players and some of the best teams in the world, it should at least beat a league that I haven't heard of.
From the late '80s to early '00s, it was Italian Serie A domination. Biggest transfers, richest clubs, most European titles, and best players: Zidane, Ronaldo, Baggio, Seedorf, E. Davids, D. Simeone, Maldini, L. Matthaus, Batistuta, Cafu, Vieri, Maradona, Del Piero, Van Basten, and hundreds more iconic players. The hardest league to score a goal.
Indian Super League is boosting Indian football in a significant way. If India had played in the World Cup in 1950, it is sure that the Indian football team would play in the 2022 World Cup. For that, the ISL would be highly responsible.
It is a great league not just for Indians but also all over the world due to its great success in the first season, with 25,000+ attendance in each game.
This league is a way for more than 1 billion people in India and South Asia to show their love and craze for football.
Passion is like nowhere else. Van Persie, Sneijder, Nani, Muslera, Drogba, Mario Gomez, and crazy fans.
One of the best leagues in the world with good potential. Great chance to become the 6th best in Europe after the top five countries: Spain, Germany, England, Italy, and France. They will compete with Portugal and Russia for that place.
Not the most balanced, but the 5 best teams in it definitely make it better than the MLS or the Brazilian league.
The fifth league in Europe and the world. Ligue 1 teams are very poor in UEFA competitions.
It is by far the best-structured and most competitive league in Africa. Now, with its schedule resembling that of most European leagues, we should see it improving in leaps and bounds.
This is the best league in Africa. It is highly competitive with teams like Pirates, Wits, Chiefs, and Sundowns.
In my opinion, it's the best in the world.
Historically the second strongest league in South America and also one of the most unpredictable. While the league features strong historical teams like Santos, Sao Paulo, and Flamengo, the last 15 editions have been won by 8 different teams: Sao Paulo (3), Corinthians (2), Cruzeiro (2), Fluminense (1), Santos (1), Flamengo (1), Vasco (1), and Paranaense (1).
Incredible league. The Western Sydney Wanderers have the best fanbase in the entire world. Attend one game, not even in the active area, and you'll see what I mean.
With players like Harry Kewell, Alessandro Del Piero, Emile Heskey, Shinji Ono, Brett Emerton, and the sheer determination and strength of Daniel McBreen, the A-League is easily in the top 5 in the world. It could be the best in years to come.
I like the MLS a lot. There are some really good players like Josef Martinez, Miguel Almiron, Bradley Wright-Phillips, and others. Also, there is a yearly MLS Cup.
This isn't the best league in the world, but I would definitely say top 10. If you disagree, you don't watch MLS.
This league is better than MLS by a lot. In the CONCACAF Champions League, no Mexican team that has participated has failed to make it through the group stage (except for Chivas).
Far better than the MLS, even when the MLS has really well-known and talented soccer players such as Rooney and Ibrahimovic.
This league is far better than MLS. Mexican teams have won all the editions of the CONCACAF Champions League.
Historically the most dominant league in South America and the most powerful league in the Western Hemisphere. Features multiple strong, competitive teams: Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente, Estudiantes, San Lorenzo, Velez, and Racing.
This league is in 5th place in European ranking, and it should definitely be in this top 5.
