Top 10 SpongeBob SquarePants Episodes with the Weirdest Endings

The people working on SpongeBob SquarePants are extremely creative most of the time. There are a lot of weird episodes in the show but personally I think some of the weirdest parts of some of the episodes over the decades (makes sense) are the endings. They might be random and make zero sense or are just unusual for a SpongeBob episode. Here are the Top 10 Weirdest SpongeBob Episode Endings.
The Top Ten
1 SpongeHenge

And here we are with yet another overall weird episode. This one has SpongeBob running away from some jellyfish and taking refuge in a cave. He creates stone replicas of himself, which are honestly pretty impressive, but they make music to make the jellyfish leave him alone.

It ends up working, and SpongeBob runs to the Krusty Krab, but it turns out he has been gone for an incredibly long time. He has grown a lot of hair, and the Krusty Krab is deserted and buried in the sand.

3,000 years later, some aliens with bizarre designs come to the statues as tourists and wonder who made them and why. The episode ends with the camera zooming into one of the statues, and you can hear SpongeBob laughing, signifying he will live on through the statues, which makes the ending a bit less depressing.

Honestly, this one is extremely weird, depressing, and doesn't feel like a SpongeBob ending. This isn't just the weirdest SpongeBob episode ending to me. It's also the darkest and most depressing one of all of them, personally.

2 Doing Time

It's like the episode has an endless loop of alternate endings. But still, it's considered too confusing to understand.

3 I Had an Accident

This one makes absolutely zero sense, and it's a bit of a meme with some people that I know. If you forgot (which I doubt), in this episode, SpongeBob is afraid of leaving his home after a physical injury he experienced. When Patrick and Sandy get him to leave his house, they get attacked by a guy in a live-action gorilla suit who rides away on a zebra named George when SpongeBob asks what a gorilla is doing underwater.

It cuts to a live-action family looking confused and turning off the TV. This ending makes absolutely zero sense, and I have no idea who came up with it, but at the same time, I love it a lot. There are so many questions with this one.

How and why did the gorilla go underwater to SpongeBob's house? Why did the gorilla attack? Why did the gorilla have a Patrick costume? This is truly one of the strangest endings of any SpongeBob episode I have ever seen.

4 Spy Buddies
5 SquidBob TentaclePants "SquidBob TentaclePants" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from Season 4. In this episode, SpongeBob and Squidward get morphed together.
6 Mid-Life Crustacean

This is possibly one of the most infamous endings in any of the classic SpongeBob episodes. Mr. Krabs wants to feel young again, so he hangs out with SpongeBob and Patrick. Krabs thinks all of the things they do are lame until they decide to partake in a panty raid.

Yes, I am 100% serious. They actually got away with this in a SpongeBob episode, which is just hilarious, honestly. So it ends with Mr. Krabs finding out they were raiding his mom's panties, and he gets punished for it by... making him go to bed? That's a weird "punishment," but kind of funny.

This is such a ridiculous ending, but I'm glad it was here.

7 Pet Sitter Pat

OK, I am sure you all are aware of this episode. Definitely one of the most hated episodes of the whole show, and I think it's terrible too. I won't go on a Squidward-Security-System-like rant (I'm not sure how many people know what I am referencing), but this ending is so strange.

Basically, the whole episode is Patrick torturing Gary, and at the end, all of a sudden, Gary is just reading Patrick a bedtime story? Sure, writers, let's just go with something that random. This ending doesn't make a lot of sense when you consider what just happened, but at least Gary doesn't seem to be completely miserable at the end.

8 Face Freeze!

This whole episode is weird, but the ending is the weirdest part because you can see SpongeBob's, Patrick's, Squidward's, and Mr. Krabs's weird faces, which makes it extra weird. Another weird part is that at the end, Mr. Krabs warned them not to overdo the crazy faces.

This episode gets a lot of hate, but I personally didn't mind it. I probably have the stupidest sense of humor ever (that should be obvious at this point), but it's kind of funny though they overdo it. That's basically all there is to the plot: insanely weird faces. But hey, at least the animators seem to be having fun.

9 I Was a Teenage Gary

Again, another overall weird episode. In this one, SpongeBob gets snail plasma injected into his body, which results in him turning into a snail. This eventually happens to Squidward too, and the episode ends with Snail SpongeBob, Gary, and Snail Squidward singing to the tune of "Blow the Man Down" on a fence, and then Patrick hits Snail Squidward with a boot.

This one is weird because of the designs of the snail versions of SpongeBob and Squidward.

10 Gone
The Contenders
11 Scaredy Pants
12 The Two Faces of Squidward
13 Fungus Among Us

Don't worry, I won't say the word. I know you're sick of it.

This one isn't as weird as it is gross, but still. In this one, SpongeBob spreads a contagious icky fungus, which results in everyone in the Krusty Krab getting infected. And what do they do about this? Well, they get Gary to eat the disgusting fungus, of course!

Yeah, this ending is kind of gross and weird.
