Top Ten Most Unexpected Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS Newcomers

If you don't want any spoilers about who is in the next game, then I suggest that you don't read this list.
The Top Ten
1 Duck Hunt Dog

Duck Hunt is a cool character and you don't want to kill him because that's animal abuse, but wow Sakurai, that's pretty random for Smash, you know. Oh well. At least Rosalina didn't get in... wait, what?

He should've been the mystery character, hiding underneath the cloak.

I played some Smash matches, but I expected Ridley, not him!

2 Wii Fit Trainer

This character isn't a fighter. You don't even control her in her games. This character must have taken a lot of work.

This character was so random even Nintendo didn't know what they were doing.

They took lots of inspiration from yoga for her. Wii Fit series for the win!

3 Dark Pit

It was pretty obvious that Kid Icarus would be getting a new representative because of Kid Icarus: Uprising. We thought that character would only be Palutena, but apparently Dark Pit will be joining the roster also.

He's the same thing as Pit. He needs to be a costume instead of a waste of roster space.

Kid Icarus having three characters. As much as Kirby... Wow!

4 Bayonetta
5 Rosalina and Luma

She has been getting very popular lately, but who would've thought that she would end up in Smash?

6 Cloud Cloud Strife, more commonly known as simply "Cloud", is a fictional video game character, the main protagonist of Square's video game Final Fantasy VII, which is a role playing game released in 1997. He also is the main protagonist of the high-definition version, as well as many of its sequels and spinoffs... read more

Debuted on a PlayStation exclusive that was supposed to be on a Nintendo console and has never been on a Nintendo console. Admit it, you were surprised when Cloud was announced. And why is Duck Hunt number one when people were already requesting him?

7 Bowser Jr. Bowser Jr., or sometimes simply Jr., is a video game character who appears in Nintendo's Mario franchise as the secondary antagonist. He is the youngest son of the series' primary antagonist, Bowser.

I know the main Mario series has been shoving him in our face since Super Mario Sunshine, but I thought they'd at least not put him in Smash.

The least suspecting guy of all.

8 Ryu Ryu is a video game player character created by Capcom, the protagonist of the Street Fighter series.
9 Robin Robin is a character in Fire Emblem Awakening, which was developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo SPD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS, and as one of three main protagonists of the game, serving as the deuteragonist.

Robin instead of Chrom?! This was definitely a shocker when we saw Robin raise his blade instead of Chrom in the reveal trailer.

10 Little Mac Little Mac is a fictional boxer and the main protagonist in Nintendo's Punch-Out!! series of video games. He first appeared in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. He is the smallest and youngest of all the boxers in the games, being only 17 years old across all Punch-Out!! games. His signature attack is the "Star... read more

11 Mii Fighter
12 Greninja Greninja is a Water/Dark type Pokemon introduced in Gen 6. It is the evolved form of Frogadier and the final evolved form of the water starter Froakie. Aside from the usual Torrent ability all Water starters have (Which raises the power of its Water moves), it also has the ability Protean, which changes... read more

We thought in the trailer that it would be Mewtwo and it was all hype. This Pokémon was the unexpected one instead.

We all knew that there would be a Generation 6 Pokémon in the new Smash game, but I know I didn't see Greninja coming.

Before Smash: This guy sucks! I want Mewtwo!

During Smash: This is my main.

13 Mega Man Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is the title character and the protagonist of the Mega Man series by Capcom.

I'm not that sure if it was obvious he would make it in. He has an amazing fan base and has a great variety of moves perfect for this game!

This is the wrong picture, but I'm still glad he made it into the game.

14 R.O.B.

The only veteran other than Doctor Mario that I wasn't expecting to come back. R.O.B. literally doesn't even have any games. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was, in fact, the first actual video game he appeared in. The only other thing he came from was a side toy for the NES, not any actual video games.

He actually appeared in the first WarioWare game before Brawl, but indeed he's not really a character so much as an old peripheral that really was a pain to use and not that much fun.

I thought he was never coming back!

15 Piranha Plant The Piranha Plant, known as the Pakkun Flower in Japan, is a plant species from the Mario franchise which usually appears as a leafy green stalk topped with a white-spotted red or green globe, with a maw lined with sharp teeth reminiscent of piranhas.

A potted plant before Waluigi. Wow, Nintendo.

Even less expected than Wii Fit Trainer.

What in the hell is Nintendo doing?

16 Lucina Lucina is one of the main characters in Fire Emblem Awakening, as well as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Her most notable feature is her love for her father.
17 Villager
18 Roy
19 Mii
20 Shulk Shulk is a fictional character and the protagonist from Monolith Soft's 2010 role-playing video game Xenoblade Chronicles, part of their overarching Xeno series of video games.

Well, it became plain to see that Xenoblade needed a representative in Super Smash Bros. after Shulk's game debuted.

Do people seriously expect Shulk to show up more than Bowser Jr.?

21 Pac-Man

I thought Pac-Man was dead. Then I saw the trailer...

22 Wario Wario is a character in Nintendo's Mario series who was originally designed as an antagonist to Mario. His motives are driven by greed and he will take the side of whoever will give him the most pay. Although he may seem like just a mean man with no heart, he does have a very tragic past.

Hmph, I thought he wouldn't be in the next Smash since lots of people never used him, except me of course. #anonymous

23 Dr. Mario Dr. Mario is the persona Mario takes in the Dr. Mario series. Under this identity, Mario dons a lab coat, a head mirror, and a stethoscope around his neck. He first appeared in his titular game, Dr. Mario.

I'm so glad they brought back this little son of a b%tch! (Even though he is just like regular Mario but SHUT UP!)

24 Meta Knight Meta Knight is a fictional character from the Kirby series of video games owned by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. He is one of Kirby's rivals, but occasionally teams up with the pink puffball to defeat a common enemy. Meta Knight is known for his powerful slashing attacks and flight in the Super Smash... read more
