The Templars/The Order of the Ancients is the main antagonist in the Assassin's Creed franchise. They are powerful and highly manipulative. They have a grasp on every part of society. Who was the most powerful member though? In this list we will be looking at the best members of The Order. This will include both the Templars and The Order of the Ancients. Feel free to add whoever you feel qualifies.Julius Caesar became the leader of the Order of the Ancients after the death of Flavius. He was always connected with the Order, but he was never in it, simply using it as a pawn. Caesar is included in Assassin's Creed Origins and he demonstrates his power in terms of politics and battle strategy. Eventually, he is killed by The Hidden Ones at the end of the game. Julius Caesar is the Father of Understanding and ultimately the end figure of the Templars.
Haytham is simply a savage, a former Assassin turned Templar. He has charisma and influence over the Order and was the Grand Master of the Order in the Colonies, frequently mentioned as the greatest Grandmaster ever. He is featured in both Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed Rogue. He is amazing in terms of fighting ability and his intellectualism. In my opinion, he has the best argument for why he is a Templar.
Rodrigo Borgia was the most influential Templar since Julius Caesar. He used his power and political influence to become Pope and was pretty much unstoppable. He features in Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. The main thing that makes him great is his ability to see the bigger picture. That eventually leads to his downfall, but it makes him a Prophet basically.
Cesare Borgia was a power-hungry military leader. Being the son of Rodrigo, he basically had everything handed to him. He is included as the main antagonist in Brotherhood and enters a big feud with Ezio after killing his uncle Mario. Unlike his father, Cesare cannot see the big picture and he mostly only cares for himself.
Al Mualim is one of the biggest manipulators ever. He had the ability to be both the Mentor of the Assassins and a Templar collaborator. Featuring in Assassin's Creed 1 and Assassin's Creed Revelations, he was one of the first people to understand the Apple of Eden.
We have ourselves another traitor. The main character in Assassin's Creed Rogue, Shay Cormac leaves the Brotherhood after the disaster in Portugal. He then joins the Colonial Templar Order. Shay is then forced to kill many of his old Assassin friends and he even kills Charles Dorian, which sets in motion the events of Unity. Very talented and very moral.
Speaking of Unity, Jacques de Molay is the inspiration behind the events of Unity. He was basically a heretic who was also Grand Master of the Templars. He dies a humiliating death that influences his followers to get revenge.
François Germain was a follower of Jacques de Molay and he becomes the Grand Master of the Templars in France. Featuring in Unity, he is one of the more subtle villains, but you cannot deny his power.
Charles Lee is a character in the video game "Assassin's Creed III," developed by Ubisoft. Flavius was very interesting because you didn't know who the main villain was until the end. Flavius was the one who killed Bayek's son in Origins and was very powerful and influential. He was the Leader of the Ancients.
