This guy gives me chills when he's on screen. I feel really bad for Gon, he freaks out whenever he sees Hisoka

If you're surprised Lucy is on this list. Then you ain't a smart cookie are you. Lucy is a declonius (IDC if I spelled I wrong), which are new evovled species that are exactly like humans except they have phsycokinetic abillities. When Lucy was a child, she was brought into an orphanage where the other kids made fun of her for looking slightly different. The other kids went as far as killing her puppy to tease for being different. That's when she meets a boy named Kouta and falls in love with him to the point it might scare some people. The reason she isn't on my top 3 is because like Shiro she has a split personality which I find so adorable to point it phsyically hurts me.

Lucy had an extremely messed up childhood. She's not scary, just damaged. Damaged people (Diclonii, in her case) can do scary things, and yeah she did some bad stuff, but that doesn't necessarily make her scary.
(Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica would be at the top of this list, if I had it my way. )

She is by far the cutest psycho that I have ever seen. The author really outdid himself. By far the scariest character you could possibly think of.

She is so scary. Cute and insane. The way she talks about killing is too scary. As if it is an everyday task. For her, it is. She kills without any care.

Nothing is more scary than a girl who seems sweet and innocent at first but is actually sadistic psychopath.

Yuno is crazy,a yandere that has mentality issues and has to constantly alter her memories to keep her insanity.Furthermore she doesn't care about anyone else besides Yukiteru and wants to kill his friends and even captured him.She keeps her parent's corpses.

This girl is scary because of her near emotionless personality. The way she creeps behind people is so shocking. Don't even get me started on her assistants. Hone Onna, Ren and Wan Yudo are just as scary as her with all the weird stuff they do.

Ai is SO Scary and cool at the same time. Like the way she just appears behind people, the way she is just emotionless makes her scary, But her "Ippen... Shinde miru? " is just so spooky and awesome.

She's my 2nd favorite Corpse Party character. She's both cute and terrifying at the same time with a very interesting and deep story! Side note: I suggest playing the games instead of watching the anime. Cause the anime goes a bad end kinda route and changes or cuts out a lot of the story of the first game to keep it crammed into those 4 episodes

How is a guy from Digimon scary? Sachiko is a young child who tortures others for FUN. She enjoys stabbing out eyeballs, ripping out intestines, dissecting live people, and stabs people with her SCISSORS! Oh ps, she also cut off a head of a elementary student! Dragon Ball people aren't scary and Digimon? What?!?

This is truly the scariest anime character in the world. But she also has an interesting backstory, and has two seperate souls, who are basically opposite personalities! Sachiko is so horrifying though! She enjoys cutting children's tounges off, and once gouged out some-one's eye in a flashback! I can't believe she isn't number 1 on this list!

I've had a fear of ghost girls during my childhood, and this is making me relive that nightmare...This deserves to be Number 1.

He's not scary

I mostly imagine what will I do when a scary villain comes in front of me. It's only in the case of Johan that I think I will cower in fear.
I had never expected for the 'monster' to have such an angelic face but even that angelic face didn't help me with my fears. The way his mind worked was super scary. Truly evil. Smart. Manipulative. The most scariest thing- a realistic villain.

Ironically he looks angelic but inside oozes nastiness.. Describe as a manipulative serial-killer. Of all the characters listed here. He is the only one I don't want to stumble with! This Guy may exist in real life, that's what's makes him so scary.

Johan is literally one of a kind. Throughout the entire series of Monster I got to see this psycho at work and man it was scary. Obviously he didn't look scary but seriously, when you see his actions, they will give you nightmares.

Why is he number 1? Because he is a manipulative phsycopath who has no real name. Through out the entire show, he is known as the Devil or the Nameless Monster. Do I even need to explain, why he's so scary? Watch Monster if you want to know what I mean.

Light is an evil genius who is capable of killing anyone with a flick of a pen. Do I really need to explain why he's so scary?!

I agree on this one, but some of these aren't even scary. they're just really ruthless, like Cell.

As long as this guy doesn't know your name, he can never kill you.

He is a heartless genius who will psycologically mess you up. Winning is everything ot him.

Yandere twin sister that goes on a murderous rampage due to the brain disease called "Hinamizawa Syndrome". She kills all of her friends

So Higurashi has a very, very weird story that's actually composed of several stories. Shion is the creepiest character in all of them. It's not so much the murdering; anybody can do that. No, the real reason she's scary is twofold.

1: She's so incredibly manipulative of everybody around her.

And 2: How damn CALM she is when she's killing everyone. At least near the start. Then she becomes completely INSANE. The main hallmark? That laugh. The laugh that haunts my nightmares.

She is a psychopath, way more crazier than Yuno in my opinion. She doesn't kill you right away, she slowly and painful tortures you. She's also cold and manipulative doing what it takes to get what she wants. Not to mention she's a sadist because she enjoys watching your pain and suffering. In my opinion, this is the creepiest character in anime. Higurashi scarred me so much.

Yuno: Instantly stabs or shoots you. Done. "Yukkii! "
Shion: Slowly tortures you to death "Ahahaaha! "
Yet Yuno is No. 4 and Shion is No. 21? These Yuno guys have no idea what Hinamizawa Syndrome does to you. Hell, forget Shion, ANY character from Higurashi that contracts the late stages of Hinamizawa Syndrome is scarier anything Mirai Nikki throws at you. Well, except maybe Satoko, but she still killed her parents in extreme paranoia.

Majin Buu was scarier than this guy.

Sure cell takes your insides from you slowly, but Majin Buu takes over your whole entire in seconds and he can turn you into food and/or clay.

Oh come on, the thought that this thing and absorb you with his tail just to get stronger will scare anyone.

His tail looks like a penis but besides that he isn't scary.

I think Mei is more cute than scary. The really scary ones are the rest of the class at the end of the series.

Don't let his looks deceive you. While he may look like your typical cutesy magical girl sidekick on the outside, on the inside...well, *spoiler alert* he turns girls into magical girls so they can fight monsters known as witches who were magical girls that were corrupted by the witch essence left on their transformation devices, thus the magical girls are slowly getting corrupted into the monsters themselves, and when they get destroyed by the magical girls, they get turned into corrupted and destroyed transformation devices where they are then somehow eaten by Kyubey just to keep his race alive. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Yeaaah, it was probably right that Homura tried to kill this creepily adorable manipulator from turning Madoka into the ultimate magical girl to destroy the world...

A gay pedophile who can turn into a horrific demon snake, steals other people's bodies, speaks like he's having an orgasm with every word, used to be friends with the biggest pervert and the woman with the worst temper (and biggest chest) in his world and whose right-hand man injected himself with his DNA to pretty much become him? Genius.

This guy is a snake-pedo-man. Jesus, I mean sure he's a great villain (despite doing disturbing things with his body) but I mean he is OBSESSED with Sasuke. We all know he has a shrine of him in his bedroom. It's gross.

Besides the fact that he's so hot and sexy, Orochimaru is exactly the definition of word creepy. He's scary and creepy on a cool, sexy way.

This man turned his one and only daughter into a talking chimera by combining her with her dog. Why did he do this? To save his State Alchemist Certification.
Shou Tucker = The Worst Father Ever.

This is literally the only anime character I can think of who has ever made me fearful of an anime show. He is not the most powerful villain in the world, nor is he a serial killer or a representation of death. He is simply an alchemical scientist and a dad. The thing that makes him so incomparably scary is the lengths he has gone to for the sake of his research. In the series, it was noted that he murdered his wife through alchemy to further his research of chimeras. Years after lying to everyone about her death, he conducts an experiment with the family dog and his daughter, essentially fusing the two to create an inexplicably eerie chimera with his daughter's emotions and thoughts still attached. In probably the darkest scene I have ever witnessed, this man deserves to be at the top. Chills have never failed to follow the thoughts of this scene, even after so many years since this anime's release.

Satan incarnate in a dress. The combo between innocent appearance and calm sadism is just petrifying. If I woke up and saw her staring at me I would die before I had time to scream. Needs to be Top 5 for sure
