Top 10 Best Students from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Danganronpa V3 is definitely my favorite in the series, and a major reason for that is how great almost the entire cast is. Even though there are a few characters I really don't like, the ones I do like are some of my favorites.

As with any Danganronpa list, spoilers are everywhere.
The Top Ten
Kokichi Oma A student with the title of Ultimate Supreme Leader, he frequently deceives others and obscures his true intentions. His unpredictable behavior makes it difficult to discern when he is being truthful.

Despite how predictable it is to see Kokichi at number one, no other character felt worthy of the spot for me. I find it really great writing when you can create a character in such a way that no matter how much you analyze them, you still can't exactly pin down their thought process.

Usually, with characters like this, you become hardwired to never believe anything they say. But in this case, I never knew whether he was being genuine or not. His actions in the killing game were both more despicable and crazier than Nagito's, which is saying a lot.

Shuichi Saihara Initially lacking confidence, he is recognized as the Ultimate Detective and gradually takes on a leadership role. His ability to uncover hidden truths becomes crucial throughout the events he experiences.

I don't like him anywhere near as much as Hajime, but I find him to be a worthy protagonist for the most part. The main flaws I see with him are his reason for being afraid of the truth, which I find really stupid, and his motivation being that some girl he liked was nice to him and then died thanks to her own plan.

He definitely has the most growth out of the three main protagonists, but I still prefer Hajime overall.

Rantaro Amami He possesses the title of Ultimate ??? due to a lack of memory regarding his true talent. His mysterious past and calm demeanor set him apart from his peers.

While a much less complex character than Kokichi, Rantaro has a surprising amount of depth when you look into his free time events and basically every bonus scene with him. You can tell just how guilty he constantly feels about his sisters, and it is quite sad.

His personality is why he's one of my favorites, though. He's a combination of cool and kinda shy, and he was one of my favorite characters to talk with.

The Ultimate Survivor couldn't survive, and he was my second favorite character. Wow, he should've survived longer.

Miu Iruma Known as the Ultimate Inventor, she creates a variety of gadgets that assist others in different ways. Despite her intelligence, she often acts arrogantly and uses crude language.

Definitive proof that you don't need a complex character for them to be good. Despite how little we get to know about Miu, even with her free time events, I loved every second she was on screen. Her weirdness combined with her sheer level of vulgarity made her very entertaining.

Kaede Akamatsu As the Ultimate Pianist, she is an optimistic and determined individual who strives to inspire hope in others. She takes initiative in solving mysteries and uniting her classmates.
Maki Harukawa While initially introduced as the Ultimate Child Caregiver, she is later revealed to have a background as an assassin. Her reserved nature masks her deep emotional struggles.

I find her to be a well-developed character in general. The reveal of her being an assassin was cool, and her arc with Kaito and Shuichi was really nice.

I don't really have anything negative to say about her.

She was okay, but she was a big mystery.

Angie Yonaga A fervent believer in Atua, she acts as the Ultimate Artist and frequently attributes her creations to divine inspiration. Her unwavering faith influences her interactions with others.
Kaito Momota A passionate and energetic student, he bears the title of Ultimate Astronaut and dreams of space exploration. His strong belief in courage and friendship influences those around him.

Kaito is definitely a divisive character in general. While he's extremely inspirational and cool in many ways, he also comes off as obnoxious at times, especially during Chapter 4, where I just wanted him to shut up.

For the majority of the time, though, I really liked Kaito and found him to be a deserving character for the amount of screen time he got.

Amazing. No idea why he's in the bottom half, considering that he made an impact on me that no other character in the series has. I'll defend him until the day I die.

Korekiyo Shinguji Holding the title of Ultimate Anthropologist, he has a fascination with human culture and an unsettling demeanor. His peculiar views on beauty and relationships make him an enigmatic figure.

I feel like Korekiyo gets way too much hate. Sure, he's an incestuous serial killer, but he's still a well-written character, and I personally still love him, despite how... interesting he became.

His personality throughout the game was one of my absolute favorites, and it genuinely annoyed me how everybody called him creepy. I never found him creepy in any way. His clothing is cool, and he was just an all-around smart, calm person who simply loved humanity. His backstory is also really interesting.

Of course, the not being creepy part only applies until the reveal.

K1-B0 A humanoid robot known as the Ultimate Robot, he is highly sensitive about his identity and strives to prove his humanity. His advanced functions play a key role in various situations.

Why is he so low? He is too pure for this world.

The Newcomers

? Kirumi Tojo As the Ultimate Maid, she is highly efficient and dedicated to serving others with professionalism. Her sense of duty extends beyond ordinary expectations.

Super underrated. She's such a great character, in my opinion!

? Gonta Gokuhara Despite his intimidating appearance, he is a kind-hearted individual known as the Ultimate Entomologist. He values nature and aspires to be a true gentleman.
The Contenders
Tenko Chabashira As the Ultimate Aikido Master, she is passionate about her martial art and deeply distrusts men. Her strong personality is balanced by a genuine desire to protect her friends.

Once again, I don't care what people say - I think that Tenko is a really good character in a lot of ways. I found her weirdness quite amusing, and her kind nature to be nice in general. The way she became such a good character in Chapter 3 is what truly made her a character that I liked.

The only reason I wouldn't put her higher is because her Himiko shtick in Chapter 2 was quite annoying and creepy, but not in the funny way like Kazuichi.

Himiko Yumeno Despite being recognized as the Ultimate Magician, she insists that her performances are real magic rather than mere tricks. She initially appears lazy but becomes more proactive over time.

I feel a similar way about Himiko as I do about DR1 Toko, just not as strongly. I personally hated Himiko for the first two chapters, but then I grew to like her after her arc with Tenko. However, she didn't become as great as I found Toko to be.

I find her pretty funny and cute, with some lines that really caught me off guard - my favorite being when she was imitating Miu.

She had the best development of any character in V3 aside from Shuichi. She is one of the many reasons that I find Chapter 3 enjoyable.

Why do people hate her? She's nice!

Ryoma Hoshi Once a renowned tennis player, he is known as the Ultimate Tennis Pro and has a dark past involving crime. His stoic nature hides deep personal regret.

He's the only one of the weird art style characters I like, as he's the only one who's treated as a genuine character instead of comedic relief. His free time events are some of the best in the series, as they provide both backstory and character development while still being fun.

Everything about the way he died was also extremely tragic.

Tsumugi Shirogane A reserved and knowledgeable individual, she holds the title of Ultimate Cosplayer and excels at costume design. Her love for fiction shapes many of her conversations and actions.

She was not a loser. Many of her plans worked, and her plan in the first chapter was perfect.

I think Tsumugi is really cool. She is so underrated. She must be my favorite V3 girl.
