Best Students from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
Danganronpa V3 is definitely my favourite in the series, and a massive reason why is because of how great almost the entirety of the cast is, and even though there are a few that I really don't like, the ones I do like are some of my favourites. As with any Danganronpa list, spoilers are everywhere.Despite how predictable it is to see Kokichi at number one, no other character felt worthy of the spot for me. I find it really great writing when you can create a character in such a way that no matter how much you analyze them, you still can't exactly pin down their thought process.
Usually, with characters like this, you become hardwired to never believe anything they say. But in this case, I never knew whether he was being genuine or not. His actions in the killing game were both more despicable and crazier than Nagito's, which is saying a lot.
While a much less complex character than Kokichi, Rantaro has a surprising amount of depth when you look into his free time events and basically every bonus scene with him. You can tell just how guilty he constantly feels about his sisters, and it is quite sad.
His personality is why he's one of my favorites, though. He's a combination of cool and kinda shy, and he was one of my favorite characters to talk with.
The Ultimate Survivor couldn't survive, and he was my second favorite character. Wow, he should've survived longer.
Definitive proof that you don't need a complex character for them to be good. Despite how little we get to know about Miu, even with her free time events, I loved every second she was on screen. Her weirdness combined with her sheer level of vulgarity made her very entertaining.
I don't like him anywhere near as much as Hajime, but I find him to be a worthy protagonist for the most part. The main flaws I see with him are his reason for being afraid of the truth, which I find really stupid, and his motivation being that some girl he liked was nice to him and then died thanks to her own plan.
He definitely has the most growth out of the three main protagonists, but I still prefer Hajime overall.
I find her to be a well-developed character in general. The reveal of her being an assassin was cool, and her arc with Kaito and Shuichi was really nice.
I don't really have anything negative to say about her.
She was okay, but she was a big mystery.
Why is he so low? He is too pure for this world.
I feel like Korekiyo gets way too much hate. Sure, he's an incestuous serial killer, but he's still a well-written character, and I personally still love him, despite how... interesting he became.
His personality throughout the game was one of my absolute favorites, and it genuinely annoyed me how everybody called him creepy. I never found him creepy in any way. His clothing is cool, and he was just an all-around smart, calm person who simply loved humanity. His backstory is also really interesting.
Of course, the not being creepy part only applies until the reveal.
Kaito is definitely a divisive character in general. While he's extremely inspirational and cool in many ways, he also comes off as obnoxious at times, especially during Chapter 4, where I just wanted him to shut up.
For the majority of the time, though, I really liked Kaito and found him to be a deserving character for the amount of screen time he got.
Amazing. No idea why he's in the bottom half, considering that he made an impact on me that no other character in the series has. I'll defend him until the day I die.
Super underrated. She's such a great character, in my opinion!
I feel a similar way about Himiko as I do about DR1 Toko, just not as strongly. I personally hated Himiko for the first two chapters, but then I grew to like her after her arc with Tenko. However, she didn't become as great as I found Toko to be.
I find her pretty funny and cute, with some lines that really caught me off guard - my favorite being when she was imitating Miu.
She had the best development of any character in V3 aside from Shuichi. She is one of the many reasons that I find Chapter 3 enjoyable.
Why do people hate her? She's nice!
He's the only one of the weird art style characters I like, as he's the only one who's treated as a genuine character instead of comedic relief. His free time events are some of the best in the series, as they provide both backstory and character development while still being fun.
Everything about the way he died was also extremely tragic.
Once again, I don't care what people say - I think that Tenko is a really good character in a lot of ways. I found her weirdness quite amusing, and her kind nature to be nice in general. The way she became such a good character in Chapter 3 is what truly made her a character that I liked.
The only reason I wouldn't put her higher is because her Himiko shtick in Chapter 2 was quite annoying and creepy, but not in the funny way like Kazuichi.
She was not a loser. Many of her plans worked, and her plan in the first chapter was perfect.
I think Tsumugi is really cool. She is so underrated. She must be my favorite V3 girl.
