Traditionally, planets have been named after Roman Gods. Quirinus was the god of Roman State, which I think makes it a fitting name for a future human colony.
Named after the planet in a very thought-provoking science fiction trilogy which bears the same name.
If a planet in a galaxy far far away was ever discovered, it should be named this, naturally.
