Top Ten Best Detroit Lions Draft Picks of the 2010s
Sure the Lions never won a playoff game this decade, but let's reflect on some of the positives they have been able to pull of in the pic failures I have seen over the years. Here are the best picks in this decade.Suh at first when he played was one of the most feared and also one of the direst players in all of the NFL. Suh was such an intimidating force this was the guy you give the money he wanted instead Lion the fools they are let him walk to Miami where he was a free agent blunder eventually went to a win now team in the Rams, and they end up falling short in the super bowl so that's your consolation prize you made it to a super bowl at least in justice to a career that has gone downhill.
Mr. Kayslay as I call him Darius Slay has become a much better shut down corner later down his career he ranks up there with the best in the league. Like a familiar player who had an injury related concern at first that's what many of us fought of Slay when we took him second round thank goodness he has transitioned well as the premiere corner.
Whitehead was always the man to stop any opposing player for the Lions, and now for the Raiders. He is one the top pursing linebackers that is accounted for that Detroit was glad to have at the time in his six year tenure.
I know punters may not mean the most, but Sam Martin while not been to a pro bowl is one of the best in the game when a healthy scratch.
Warford was a very good guard protector for Stafford, and the fact they gave him up easily to the Saints made Drew Brees look invincible in comparison to offensive lines. In his rookie year he never gave up a single sack that's how good he was, and now his gone.
Ziggy Ansah was a guy I originally hated the pick, but he was a solid player at first, but eventually he became DeAndre Levy 2.0. in other words injuries torn up his career overtime. Currently has no home to any team since being officially cut by the Lions
Decker had an outstanding rookie year giving up few sacks, and the only thing that did hurt was the fact he missed one half of the 2017 season, and in 2018 he started committing some big time penalties as well that promise is looking a little bit screwy since.
In his two years I wasn't sure about this pick, but man Golladay has transitioned into that #1 Wide Receiver. Having rid of Golden Tate, and potentially Marvin Jones down the line still have plenty of great years to be had of Kenny Golladay especially if his the closest thing to Calvin Johnson, or Herman Moore for that matter.
While yes the 2011 draft class was mostly atrocious Nick Fairley reasonable so is the best of the bunch at least. A bit of an underrated player to in terms of a supporting supporting tackle role. Unfortunately when he did leave the team he had maybe one last good year, and that was with the Saints only for his career to be cut short by a critical heart condition that Maurice Hurst (of the Raiders) has similar to him something to keep on eye out for.
A gem 6th round pick Theo is not exactly a good runner, but he makes up for that in his pass completion that are all purpose yards when the Lions need a conversion of some sort to save consecutive drives his usually old reliable.
