Top 10 Best Months to Have Your Birthday

Some birthday months come with fireworks. Others come with discounted cake mix and deflated balloons in the seasonal aisle. Timing is everything, and your birth month sets the stage for everything from how your parties look to who actually shows up.

Think about it. Were you born in December? Congrats, your birthday probably got swallowed whole by Christmas cheer and peppermint-scented wrapping paper. Or maybe you're a summer baby, blessed with backyard BBQs and zero homework, but also trying to wrangle friends who are scattered across family vacations and sleepaway camps.

Then there are the spring birthdays, perfectly placed between the holiday chaos and the final exam panic, when people are just grateful to see the sun again.

Everyone has their opinions. Some swear September is the sweet spot. Others defend May like it's their personal holiday. Now it's your turn. Scroll through the list, vote for the month that made your childhood celebrations easier or your adult plans more fun, and see how your pick stacks up. Your birthday might not come with a national holiday, but you can still make it count here.

The Top Ten
  1. April

April is the greatest, or December as my second choice. My birthday is in August, which is last. That's wrong, as even though it's not the best, I think September, July, and February should be under August, and possibly more, but my favorite, by a million percent, is April.

April is an awesome month because it's when Taurus enters the sun, flowers start to bloom, it's a rainier month typically, and Easter is in it! It also has a pretty name, and I was born in it.

April is a good month because it's right when stuff starts to get warm, and it can be pretty pleasant.

  2. December

My little brother was born in this month. I wouldn't mind having this as a birth month. It is a very happy time of year, you share it with some pretty good people, and beautiful birthstones. Also, I'm never bored of the cold weather in December. The only bad thing is you get presents really close to Christmas or even get gifts counted for both, but I'd still take it over my birth month.

Most of my relatives' birthdays are from late September on, 4 of my 6 cousins are born in November or December. And I "end" the birthday chain in the late year (December 21). Even if it may be a bad spot (Christmas comes 3 days after), I absolutely love it. I also know of at least one good friend in university who was born on Dec 21, and she loves it too!

  3. October

It's cold but not freezing, which can be fun. Halloween is soon after, so you get candy really soon after or go to a party if you are older (unless your birthday is October 31). And Christmas is coming, so once you get your presents, you only have to wait 86 to 56 days until you get more.

You've just gotten back into the motion of school, so you get a little happy day before you really get your (actual) school year started. And since you are a month into school, it's not uncomfortable to invite your friends. And it's a good way to know your new friends better if this is your second month knowing them since the start of the school year.

October would be an amazing month to have your birthday, and I'll tell you why. You'll have just gotten used to your new class in school, so you'll be comfortable inviting friends. It's not too close to Christmas holidays or summer, which wouldn't be great. Halloween and Thanksgiving are close (for Canadians), and it's perfect, cool, soothing weather - not too cold, but still crisp. I'm so lucky to have my birthday in this month.

  4. May

May is my birth month. The weather is beautiful, and you get a school birthday instead of celebrating all by yourself or having the chance of not having friends attend due to vacation. Fall, while the weather is perfect, is just colder, and days get shorter. Winter, well, it's stinking cold. And the first half of March is winter, plus the last half and all of April is just rainy. But May, it's essentially no rain or no cold. Easy win.

I personally think May is the best month to be born. School gets out, summer is starting or just around the corner, the weather is pleasant, flowers are in bloom, and all that stuff.

I was born in July, and though I like it, I'd say May is better.

  5. September

I was born on September 5th. I am the oldest in my year, apart from that one time twins were born on the 4th. Being born in September means you're the oldest (well, at least here in England). I know some (not all) people born in the later months, like August, find schoolwork harder and are less mature. There is a girl in my year born on August 31st! September is the beginning of the school year, so schoolwork is more relaxed, and there are no big tests!

I was born on September 11th, not the day it happened but a few years after. I like birthdays in September because you go to school, but something to look forward to isn't your birthday in less than 2 weeks! I also like September birthdays because the weather is great, as it is almost the end of summer, and the trees are beautiful. The temperature is not too hot and not too cold.

  6. November

I was born in November, and I love it! Diary of a Wimpy Kid books come in just in time for my birthday, and well, the list goes on and on about how many good reasons your birthday is in November!

I love November! There is something so cozy about it. My son was born around Thanksgiving, which is also my favorite holiday. He is my turkey baby! So to me, November is a great month.

I was born in November, and it is super awesome. Churchill's birthday, my favorite actor Charles Bronson's birthday, Thanksgiving, Patton's birthday, and probably a lot more.

  7. March

Bro, in March there is nothing happening, so people will actually start caring about your birthday instead of other major holidays.

Also, it is the start of spring.

I think March is the best month to be born, and I feel so glad that I was born in March. Have you ever heard about March for Our Lives? I think March is the best month for the beginning of anything special. It's a good luck month for everybody. People who are born in March are luckier than anyone.

March is a great month, one of the only months with no major holidays but my BIRTHDAY, March 28th, the greatest day of the year.

  8. June

October, February, and January are probably among the worst months to be born in. You will end up being the eldest at school, and if you are the eldest, you will end up in the back of the line every time they do single file from oldest to youngest. You know, I'd rather be the youngest at school than the oldest.

The biggest and most awful con of being born in October is having the highest risk of disease. January and February have that too. Well, I'd rather choose December, August, July, March, April, November, September, May... and guess what is the best? Here it is, June. The best month to be born because June has the second luckiest people and the second least likelihood of disease. Also, it is halfway before Christmas, which makes you the most excited person ever. I think being born in the middle of the year is great. Compared to January and February people, they have the most boring times in their life. This comment doesn't have to make you believe. If you think June is the worst according to you, that's fine.

  9. July

July is a nice month, honestly. I hate how hot it is, but besides that, it's pretty good.

School is always out by July, which means you can spend the whole day doing whatever you want. It's right in the middle of the year, so it never feels like you're waiting that long for it to come around.

Plus, in my case, ArtFight is in July, and I love being able to do it. So in general, a pretty good month (but May is still better).

This month rocks because of the Fourth of July, Independence Day of the United States. There's no school, and we're off on vacations. I love this month so much. I wish I was born in July. My birthday is on October 18, so that month is the worst for birthdays.

Love July a billion - best month for birthdays, like May and June too! I wish my birthday was in July because there's no school, and you can go anywhere you like!

  10. February

I'm born on February 27th, and it's just a good month to have your birthday. There aren't that many holidays, so people would usually celebrate with you. There's also a lot of snow, but not blizzard standards, so that's a good thing.

My birthday is on February 7th, and I love it! Winter is my favorite season. It's around the middle of the year, and its birthstone, amethyst, is beautiful!

This is the best month because Hyland Hills has bluebird days, and school is easy. Also, there is Valentine's Day, which is so cool. The rest speaks for itself.

  11. The Contenders
  12. January

I live in Australia, and it's summer in my birth month: January. Luckily, I don't celebrate New Year's in winter because it's gloomy, full of pure depression, it's boring, and especially I hate winter. At least New Year's in summer is way better.

I was born on the 4th of January. I love my birthday, I always have. I don't mind that it's just after Christmas because I've never been cheated out of gifts. I love having something to look forward to just after Christmas ends. I celebrate my birthday with all the sparkly lights and the beautiful tree in my house. I really think it's just a blessing to be born in January. I love every Capricorn and Aquarius out there.

  13. August

Why is August last? All of the other months were chosen based on greed because of Christmas. If you were to have your birthday in a month with a holiday, a lot of people wouldn't show up because they are out of town. August is the perfect month to go to the beach and to just have fun in the sun.

I love being an August Baby. We throw parties just before school starts for me. A great way to go back to school. Though my birthday used to be the first day of school, so the luck was with me. My birthday is August 27th.

My birthday is August 9th. I think that lots of people hate August birthdays because school starts. But if your birthday is in early August, it is awesome.
