Top 10 Most Overrated NFL Teams of the 2020-21 Season

Some teams like to set the bar high but fail to unlock their full potential. Sometimes it’s injuries, other times the team just underachieves, or in other circumstances the team just implodes. Whatever the cause, it’s clear that these teams failed to reach their ultimate goal. Let’s talk about those teams.
The Top Ten
1 Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that competes in the National Football League. Pittsburgh Steelers have won the most Super Bowls with 6 which currently stands today.

Wasn't this team supposed to be likable? After getting rid of AB and Le'Veon this team was supposed to be likable and easy to cheer for. Little did we know that new cancer would be forming. Juju danced on logos for TikTok and doesn't seem to have any respect for his opponents whatsoever. Chase Claypool has a lot of talent and has a bright future in this league, but he needs to accept defeat and stop being salty. He's another guy that chases TikTok clout.

Big Ben will end up in Canton but he's clearly a shell of his former self. Father time is undefeated.

Mike Tomlin isn't a bad coach but he's certainly not elite. He's another guy who lacks respect for his opponents. He called the Browns "nameless gray faces", even after the embarrassing loss to Jacksonville in the playoffs not too long ago. He consistently looks past weaker opponents. He has 3 playoff wins in 10 years. That would get plenty of coaches fired but here's the thing: Pittsburgh doesn't fire coaches

Remember when this team was the favorite to win the Super Bowl? I do. They were riding high and mighty with an 11-0 record, mostly aided by an easy schedule (they played just 3 playoff teams in the 11-0 start: CLE, BAL, TEN). However, they would go on to lose 5 of 6 games to close out the season, ending in a humiliating defeat to the Browns in the playoffs.

Big Ben is regressing, the offense stalls out, and the defense bends and breaks. Even worse is Juju Smith-Schuster going from likable to a toxic personality. Doing TikTok dances on teams' logos isn't exactly a sign of a healthy personality.

Yes, they made the playoffs and won the division, but they still massively underachieved. This is the point where you start to question Big Ben's long-term durability and Mike Tomlin's coaching. This team was a train wreck the entire time, hiding behind an easy schedule. Even then, they lost to Washington and Cincinnati, two teams they should have easily beaten.

What have we become?

2 Las Vegas Raiders The Las Vegas Raiders are a professional American football franchise based in Las Vegas. The Raiders began playing in 1960 as a member club of the American Football League; they have been a member club of the National Football League since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger. In 2020, the Raiders relocated from Oakland, California to Las Vegas.

Raiders, what didn't you do wrong? You were talking so much trash after Week 5, and you couldn't back it up. Derek Carr is absolutely mediocre and is not the future, or at least not the future you want. How many times do we have to tell you this isn't 2016? Josh Jacobs, Henry Ruggs, and Nelson Agholor are all fine enough weapons, but good god, that defense was horrid. It was terrible. That Dolphins game tells you everything you need to know. Also, if not for a dumb play call at the end of the Jets game, you would've lost that game as well. This team needs help on defense, and badly.

They had the chance, and they fell HARD.

3 Minnesota Vikings The Minnesota Vikings are an American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season.

The Vikings were coming off an upset win in the playoffs against the Saints. Many people thought that Kirk Cousins would turn a corner, but that didn't happen until it was too late. They did lose Kevin Stefanski to Cleveland, but to me, the offense wasn't the major issue with guys like Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, and their breakout rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who definitely caught the league's attention and has an argument for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

To me, it was that defense that was the biggest concern. They went from a solid unit to a subpar unit. It definitely cost them a few games. Starting 1-5 was definitely less than ideal, and by the time they fought back, it was almost too late. That game against the Saints on Christmas Day was the dagger in their playoff chances.

I honestly don't know what to expect from this team going forward. Are they rebuilding or not? That's the big question that time will tell the answer to. If they wish to be a ...more

Sucks to be them.

4 Arizona Cardinals The Arizona Cardinals are a professional American football franchise based in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

With all things considered, this team should have made the playoffs. There was absolutely no reason why they shouldn't have made it in. You have a young elite talent in Kyler Murray who didn't live up to his hype. You also were the lucky recipient of DeAndre Hopkins, a once-in-a-generation talent at wide receiver who can immediately elevate the offensive talent around him.

At first, they seemed to be living up to their expectations; however, as the season progressed, they slowly fell apart. Even in a weak NFC where the East division is terrible and the playoff field is expanded, there is absolutely no reason why they should have missed out. They just couldn't close out games.

Let me say this from a football fan perspective and taking my Packers fan lenses off: when the Bears make the playoffs at 8-8 and you miss out, something isn't right. Have you seen that Bears offense? It's absolutely horrid and painful to watch. Shame on all of you for letting the Bears into the ...more

5 Tennessee Titans The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference South division.

The Titans, I think many people thought, would build off last year's success in the postseason, making it all the way to the AFC Championship before falling at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. This year, they didn't take that next step completely in my book. More of a half step, if you will. There were times they looked great, and other times they were terrible. Yeah, they won the division, but it took them longer to win it than it should have.

Ryan Tannehill was decent, but not always living up to the hype he had surrounding him. Derrick Henry was an absolute beast, obliterating defenses and taking defenders' souls left and right. But my problem is that when he was off (e.g., vs Cleveland or @ Green Bay), as examples, the entire team was off. And that's not even getting to the defense, which, let's just say, was mediocre at best. Look at both games against the Houston Texans if you don't believe me.

What happened to them towards the end?!

6 New Orleans Saints The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference South division.

You might be surprised to see this team here, but honestly, it's deserved. Sean Payton is one of the most overrated coaches in the league, and this team is notorious for underachieving. To me, they slowly got worse and worse. Michael Thomas was a massive disappointment and turned into an issue in the locker room. Drew Brees regressed and decided to retire after this season. They decided to put all their weight on Alvin Kamara, and in the end, it didn't work out. They should have made the NFC Championship on paper, but they BLEW IT. THEY ABSOLUTELY BLEW IT. How do you lose to Tampa Bay at home? This is a team that you destroyed in the regular season, and you once again put up a dud in the playoffs. And to make matters worse, you know that you can't blame anyone but yourself for it. There was no controversy or miracle play or anything like that. I would say better luck next year, but have you looked at your cap situation? You're about to be in cap hell. Good luck with that.

7 Dallas Cowboys The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference East division.
8 Baltimore Ravens The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference North division.

I think a lot of people thought the Baltimore Ravens would be world beaters and destroy everyone in their path, which didn't exactly happen. Lamar Jackson kind of took a step backwards for most of the season and didn't regain his MVP form until the game at Cleveland. This team is one-dimensional in my book; you stop their run game, and you stop them entirely. That defense also wasn't as good as I was expecting. I'll give them props for at least trying to come back, but it simply wasn't enough. They also had a COVID-19 outbreak that could have very well played a part in their slump during those few weeks.

9 Denver Broncos The Denver Broncos are an American football team based in Denver, Colorado. The Broncos compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's American Football Conference West division.

Denver, to be fair, it wasn't completely their fault for their disappointing season. They had several injuries contributing to them being subpar this season. However, that is generally a mundane excuse. There were other factors, like the fact that Drew Lock regressed from his earlier promise. I thought this would be a potential playoff team with the expanded playoff field, but that wasn't the case. Jerry Jeudy didn't quite live up to his hype, in my opinion. Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon, who were their primary running backs, were inconsistent. Vic Fangio may be on his last chance. Pat Shurmur should be fired because he can't run an offense. At least Jon Elway is no longer the GM, although he basically self-promoted himself. And then there's Von Miller, who is becoming more of an off-the-field liability with a current police investigation on him. Definitely not a good thing. That's all I'll say about that situation.

Yeah, disappointing for them.

10 Seattle Seahawks The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference West division.

Seattle won their division, okay, I'll give them credit where credit is due; however, that doesn't mean they weren't still overrated. Russell Wilson started off on fire, and we all thought this would be the year he won MVP. Unfortunately, the whole "let Russ cook" saying died out, reinforcing the fact that Russell Wilson is the Drew Brees of his generation: good, but someone is always better than he is.

The offense was woefully inconsistent, and at some points, the defense was the one carrying them. To any Seahawks fans, you probably had like 20 different heart attacks over the course of the season until they hit the Rams' brick wall. Well, guys, what can I say? You play Russian Roulette, and eventually, you get shot. Such is the case here. I'm sure Gordon Ramsay would not be satisfied with what Russell Wilson has been cooking these past few weeks.

The Contenders
11 Los Angeles Rams The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

The Rams are the second biggest frauds in the entire league. That offense was inconsistent and shaky as hell. Jared Goff has regressed in year 3. Sure, they won a playoff game, but still, they lost to the JETS! The Jets, yes, the Jets who were on pace to not win a game. And they lost to San Francisco twice. May I remind you that they were injured to hell and back.

Aaron Donald is a good player, but he is literally the backbone behind the team. They should have done better, honestly. They had a chance to win the division and failed. I believe part of this falls on Sean McVay, who I believe to be an overrated coach. It's an unpopular opinion, but I don't care. For being an offensive mastermind, his QB has significantly regressed from his earlier promise.

Didn't deserve to beat Seattle.

12 Washington Football Team The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In 2020, Washington after 87 years got rid of the Redskins trademark due to it being labeled racist to native culture. It was named the Washington Football Team until February 2022, when the team was renamed the Washington Commanders.
13 Kansas City Chiefs The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's American Football Conference West division.
