Most Surprising NFL Teams of 2017-18 After Week 8
With the season officially halfway over here we have the teams that have shocked us either good or bad as of Week 8 in what has been a very bizarre season thus far.I expected the Ravens to win against the Dolphins but I definitely didn't expect a 40-0 blowout. Especially after Flacco got a concussion. I can't decide if Baltimore was just explosive on offense or if Miami just completely sucked. I'm going with the latter.
One week after handing Kansas City their second loss in a row in a last second fashion they looked absolutely sloppy against the Bills of all teams. Overall they have been disappointing thus far. They seem to be lacking the star power they had last year.
The Bills suddenly clicked on offense and won over a Raiders team that looked sloppy to say the least. What surprises me the most about Buffalo is that they have actually kept pace with the Pats. Don't look now but if they keep this up could Buffalo finally make the playoffs again?
I'm still baffled that they were absolutely humiliated by a barely above average Ravens squad and they didn't even need Jay Cutler to do it. And they took Flacco out of the game and still lost! Now that I think about it this game sums up the Dolphins season perfectly. No matter what happens the Dolphins failed in every way.
The Ajayi trade was also weird to me. The Dolphins traded their best running weapon for a for a fourth round draft pick. I still fail to understand the logic of that
The Bucs had some hype going into this season but have been a major disappointment. You'd think they would have more than 2 wins and put up more than a field goal against the Panthers(which would have tied the game against Buffalo by the way) but no. The ship is sinking fast for Tampa. Jameis Winston going down just adds further insult to injury.
The Bengals game was one where neither team was very good but someone had to win. What surprised me is that Cincy needed an interception and a rally to beat the Colts by one point. One would think that they could beat the Colts by more than they did
To me Atlanta was lucky to get a win. They made some crucial mistakes. It may or may not have been the weathers fault but to be on the fence after the halfway mark is so shocking especially after the great super bowl run last year. It seems like since the 3rd quarter of the super bowl they have completely collapsed.
For the first time I actually believed in Deshawn Watson. The Texans played a legitimate game against Seattle. Watson looked like Russel Wilson Jr. They might have lost but man they put up a hell of a fight. Watson may very well be on his way to an MVP award or rookie of the year award. He has definitely made a strong case
I'm still confused as to what exactly the Jets are doing. Are they tanking or not? They already have 4 wins. If they are supposedly tanking they better be careful
The Jets were at least competitive against Atlanta. Neither team really played good but New York surprised us by keeping it close
Are they really tanking or not? That's the question. Make up your mind Jets
Remember the Russel Wilson from a few years ago? Well he returned to that form once again against the Texans. Both teams played a good game of football. Seattle was able to rally behind Wilson to edge Houston. The division is still theirs to lose.
Great game from Wilson
Jacksonville is really a tale of two teams. We either see the team that has playoff potential or the old Jags we have seen up until now. I'm still not seeing playoffs for them but if they keep it up then next year for sure
