I was at the library the other day and I asked the librarian "Do you have any manga? " and she answered "You mean maynga? " and I was silent for a few seconds until I just gave up and said "Y-yes...". Turns out they didn't have any "maynga"

Good point. Here's another: the correct pronunciation of 'anime' is not 'anna may', it's 'onny may'.
