Top Ten Things Bad TopTenners Do

There are the good TopTenners and then there's the bad ones. You may be surprised about this and you may even do some of the things that bad TopTenners do.. If you do, consider this list as a way to improve and not as if I'm picking on you because I'm not.
The Top Ten
1 Not accept others' opinions

Well, if you know the reason why I am a TopTenner, you know, that for me this is unnaceptable. If you don't accept other opinions, you are against liberty of expressions. Not that you can't criticize other's opinions to create interesting discussions. As long as there is no insult and that you accept any form of counter arguments it's okay.

Scroll down on Sword Art Online's Greatest Anime of All Time comments section enough, and you'll see a visitor calling the anime stupid, the author stupid, and worst of all, for the fans of Sword Art Online to go home and die. That is the worst comment I have ever heard in my life.

Opinion disrespecting is fairly rare, only the bad users do it. However, haters take it out of context, and shine a bad light on this website. But yes, I used to judge people by opinions, and I'd say I was a bad user back then.

I've someone in a YouTube comment section make death threats to someone else for even making a reference to fortnite. While the fortnite fanbase is bad, the hatebase is 10 times worse.

2 Make lists about killing people

Making a list about killing say, Nazis, is fine since one, most people (including me!) hate Nazis and two, all of the original ones in the actual Third Reich are probably dead.

Making a list about killing someone such as a pop culture icon is not acceptable.

I know that these are jokes, but these lists seriously need to be taken down. For joke lists, these go WAY too far and are pathetic excuses of lists.

If I ever see someone make such a list, then I legitimately never want to lay eyes on them for as long as I live.

I've been sick of everyone complaining about such lists because they get butthurt over such jokes.

3 Bully fellow TopTenners

I apologize in advance if I hurt you in any way. Just to let you know, I will not respect you if you can't respect me. Watch what you say towards me, along with anyone else.

At least the rustlers, as they're known as, the main circle here of these have exiled from TTT since the middle of 2019 when they got bored..., unless they unexpectedly decide to return.

There was this Rainbow Dash fan and when I said I didn't like Rainbow dash s/he called me hypocritical and unbiased. I apolagised and said no offense but I still get the hate comments

And there is one user who reported multiple users for "bullying" him while he himself is the most immature user on the site.

4 Make lists on their political/religious beliefs

This is especially directed at a list called "Changes America should make" This list started with some user giving stupid examples like "Ban the Theory of Evolution" Well, evolution has evidence to back it up. Stop making lists off your religious beliefs and give better ideas. Good news the community could fix this list up and give more realistic changing scenarios.

Okay, this isn't aimed at lists which are like this for example: Top Ten Flaws With the Theory Of Evolution. This list would be a fine list to make and I'd have no problems if such a list was made.

As long as you realize some people don't agree with you or believe said religion, this is actually fine, although I'm yet to make a totally politically or religiously motivated list.

I don't like these "top 10 best religions" lists. It's mostly people saying that their religion is the right one and that everyone else is a terrorist

Religious debates are pretty much pointless. Let the people decide, and don't be too aggressive with your stance.

5 Make lists to promote themselves

I think this one needs some clarification. If you end up on a list you made (without self-submission, obviously,) it's okay, but it's a whole different story if you make a list of best or nicest users of the month or year and put yourself as top dog. That is arrogant and annoying.

Why *insert thing you like* fans are better than their haters list or even vice versa list are annoying and useless. Most of the time they are never based of true facts, No one should be considered better than each other because of what fandom/hatedom they are in!
This is probably one of the reasons some websites call this place TOXIC!

Although I am guilty of doing this on my Pug account, I regret that. The point of the user ranking lists is to try to rank users based on the subject of the list and you could possibly promote other users. Instead, if you put yourself at number one, you're a selfish narcissist. Put others before yourself.

I don't make any user ranking list anymore. But I made two or three lists. But I didn't include myself. Well, one particular list I included myself, something like movie lovers. But I included myself at last. But I have never made a list about myself. And nor did I ever put myself on top of a user ranking list.

6 Troll other users

That depends of what is a troll, and what is a joke.

Right now in 2020, trolling and trolls have luckily become irrelevant, since the main trolls, rustlers left the site..., that is unless they decide to return.

7 Put zero effort into making lists

Bonus points if the list seems eye-catching yet there's no description on each of the items.

8 Not accept criticism for their actions

There are people who make offensive lists and whenever other people criticize them, they call them "sensitive" as an excuse and that shows why they can't handle criticism.

If you do something you know is bad you better expect people to criticize you. Sometimes you just have to take your medicine and move on don't make excuses or blame other people for your actions

I've received some criticism lately about spamming messages, so I will do my best to not do that again. I will simply just be patient for my lists to become popular. Thanks, PositronWildhawk.

So many users on this site have not wanted to take criticism at all for anything. What did this lead to? Well a couple of flame wars, I remember

9 Blatantly rip off lists from other websites

Personally, "ripping off" lists isn't important. As long as you show your opinion about the subject, it's not really a rip off. It would be cooler if people would be able to comment on remix lists though! Anyway, my point is, the most important thing about a list personally, is the opinion, not the content. If you rip off an opinion though..., I wonder why you would do that but just don't.

I have a book called "Children's Miscellany" and its all 3 volumes.
If I used it, I can easily make lists
But I have used it to create JUST ONE LIST. Then I realised that it was boring to receive votes in such a way.
That list is" Top 10 countries that begin and end with the same letter"
I guess I am a bad user after all

What does the fifth rule of making a list say? Exactly.

It's okay to make a list which is the same as an external one but don't copy the order and descriptions. That requires no effort and puts you in the group of bad users.

I can HONESLY say I've never done this. All my lists are unique to me. Albeit weird, they're still my own. I will however admit to submitting a few list without a description. I guess that makes me baaad! What's my punishment?

10 Publish lists without descriptions

I'm going to make an exception for this one. If it's something very obvious and everyone who would see that list would know what it meant, then fine. Lists like Top Ten Yo Momma Jokes don't need descriptions because everyone knows what it is. What does tick me off is when people don't put time into making good lists and just shovel rubbish lists out there trying to get popular. These lists are often confusing and you don't know what the list even means sometimes.

Now this I disagree. Lots of good users don't put descriptions in their lists

Not always lists need description. if the title is clear then you don't have to repeat anything

I do this with practically all my lists.

The Contenders
11 Submit ridiculous items onto lists

Seriously it's not funny at all. I've seen Golden State Warriors on an NFL list and I had a Mario Kart themed list and people added stuff like guns, blood, death, etc like SERIOUSLY?

Thank you. Just, thank you. This happens WAY too many times. Someone stop it before I lose my mind.

Someone submitted Hank Hill in "Top 10 Cutest Video Game Characters".

So wait, Shaggy isn't the supreme ruler of animated characters?

12 Threaten other people

Haven't been threatened, myself, (although I would happily swap places with TopTenners who HAVE been threatened since I don't care if I'm threatened,) but I imagine it's not the epitome of "a fun, enjoyable experience."

13 Spam messages to TopTenners about your lists

I did that a little bit of. But not for seeing my lists, I messaged them because I made some (2 lists) lists that included them. And then I made another list about users, but I didn't send them messages. And now I don't make any user ranking list. We all know who is a good user or bad user. If I make a user ranking list then it may miss many good users. That's why I stopped making those list.

I do the same thing but only with my followers, since I deduct that if you are a follower of me, you should like my content, so I want to announce them when I do a new list that might be interesting for them. Does that count? If it does I will stop doing it.

Yeah really it's okay to lightly advertise but don't go crazy overboard it makes you look desperate for attention. If you make a high quality list people will find it

I know this, because I just did so. Luckily, PositronWildhawk taught me that I shouldn't do that just to become popular.

14 Not put explanations for their ordering on their lists

For a list that is completely based on opinion and is about a serious subject, leaving comments on your submissions can give other users an idea of why you have that opinion. That's a good thing. People can see where you're coming from then.

Again, not all lists need this, only the more serious lists require this reasoning for your choices.

There's a list of "Food you thought were vegetarian/vegan" and they had no descriptions. The list baffled me. I think explanations make a list much better in terms of quality, and on an opinionated site, gives the list the base it needs to become a popular list.

I don't think this is bad because on lists people don't say "I put Heaven In Hiding at 1 because Halsey has an amazing vocal range and the lyrics are beautiful" or something on the lists they make. You should do that on remixes.

This is the definition of low-quality stat-padding. It ruins what could've otherwise been an interesting list.

15 Act like they're superior to others
16 Act like a grammar nazi

Well is this really bad? They are only helping you to correct your English. What if you're learning a language? I'd rather be corrected rather than just disregarding it for whatever reason.

17 Dislike comments for no reason

I sometimes do this, but on accident, I do not actually mean it. I only dislike on purpose when I do not like something.

I hate it when it happen! Whoever dislike his comments is a jerk! I hate whoever disliking one of his comment!

I hate when people do that. Its ok to dislike a comment if there is a reason but not when there is no reason.

You can't even do this anymore if you wanted to, so no worries, I guess.

18 Add Justin Bieber to every list

Worst People? Justin Bieber's on that list. Worst Singers? Bieber's on that list. Worst YouTubers? You bet your butt. Worst People That Breathe Oxygen And May or May Not Eat Nilla Wafers? If such a list existed, he would be on there. Literally all of the complaints towards him are the exact same two things: he has a bad fanbase and he sounds like a girl. Sure, Bieber sucks, but how is he somehow worse than people like 6ix9ine, a literal pedophile, and Silento, who killed his cousin?

JB sucks but isn't the worst. French Montana and Migos are much worse than him. Stop treating Justin like he's worse than Hitler.

Can't we just leave him alone?

19 Tells others to die

You don't know what they've been through and what they are going through right now you shouldn't make statements like Die or things like that because they might actually do that please stop this and please stop bullying and please think about who you might be hurting...please stop and remember this comment about the girl who wants you to not bully others and even if your joking (which death is nothing to joke about) You shouldn't say it because they may take it personally and kill themselves. Nobody wants that. Please, stop with this crap. Nobody likes a bully and especially NOT me or my friends...So please I beg you stop...Please.

Even if it's over an opinion, which is beyond ridiculous and nasty.

The fact that this one has happened makes me sad.

If someone do this to me. I'll leave this site.

20 Fake their death to get attention

This is just plain weird. Generally speaking, it's rather easy to get popular so don't do this. You get the bad kind of attention, anyway, I am assuming.

21 Spam vote
22 Post bad comments

I'll admit that I actually wrote some bad comments on here and trust me when I say that I highly regret it.

23 Idolize one TopTenner over the others

It's okay to like [insert popular TopTenner here] for their personality and content, but there are also strange ways, such as an anonymous individual obsessing over Finch.

It's ok to be closer to some users more than others, but when you obsess over them it gets a little creepy...
I think we all know who I refer to here...
And I rest my case.

These users would idolise the first popular people on the site they find. Most likely Britgirl, Positron Wildhawk or some other popular user.

I am nowhere near "popular". I joined today so I'm not surprised.

24 Type in all caps

I realized I do this too much. I should do this less often.

No introduction needed.

25 Whine about everything

Not to be confused with wine.
