Worst Anime Side Characters
I made a best list awhile back about how great some side character in anime can be. Like Karma Akabane or Bulma from DragonBall. Sadly, they're some characters who suck at being side characters or being characters in general. So let's see who's the worst.
Misa Amane is a fictional character in the manga series Death Note, created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. Sakura is way worse than Misa because Misa was designed to be an unlikable annoying girl. That's why she worships kira in the first place.
Sakura on the other hand is supposed to be a "main" character who we are supposed to like. Except she has ZERO redeeming qualities, no development at all, nothing connecting her to naruto and sasuke (the actual main characters) except for a shallow obsession and she manages to get WORSE every time.
Sakura is stuck between being an irrevelant, useless, extremely unlikable person in reality while being someone who gets forced hype and praise in universe as a last ditch attempt to get people to root for her, as if any of us can even buy that. Her existance is simply a mistake.
Welcome back to my list Misa-Misa. To be honest, I don't see why she was apart of Death Note. She's done more harm to characters than good. She almost got Light caught by L, annoyed everyone at task force and literally made everyone look better. Misa was just a pawn in game and an annoying one at that. Maybe the reason I don't hate her that much in the live action movie is because her voice isn't as annoying.
Misa Amane was the worst part of my favorite anime. I love Death Note but I will never in my life defend Misa.
Sakura Haruno is a fictional character in the Naruto manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. I was seriously debating whether or not to put her on this list. She is supposed to be one of the main characters and the main female lead. But then when I look back at the original Naruto and Shippuden, what did she do that was important to the plot that could only be done by her? She healed people. But then again we have tons of medical ninja better than her. She even uses too much chakra on her patients. Tsunade is way better than her and as much as I don't like Karin, she can heal people by just letting them bite her arms. No chakra wasted. Then there's the fact she's obsessed about Sasuke 24/7. Yeah, I become obsessed over people who try and kill me too. Then beat up Naruto even though he's saved me from Sasuke. She was manipulative and emotionally weak.
Ah man, I couldn't really choose who is more annoying between Excalibur and Sakura but I chose the greater evil.
Reasons I chose sakura over excalibur
1. excalibur is reaallyyy annoying but I can mostly just skip everything to do with him
2. the fact that one of the few female characters in Naruto is such a complete wimp pissed me off
3.excalibur was a cringey joke character actually meant for people to hate him while sakura is a fully developed character with almost no redeeming qualities.
4. sakura is the generic fangirl with no individuality. It's like the embodiment of the sasuke fandom out over literally every breath he takes

What kind of stupid wife are you, if you can't remember is Sasuke ever wore glasses or not? You've been obsessed with this guy for years! And you're a terrible person for always hitting Naruto when he saves you too!
Karin was just a Sakura clone. She has a crush on Sasuke? Check. She still likes Sasuke even though he tried to kill her? Check. Has healing abilities like Sakura? Check. Is annoying with her obsession with him? Check. He's blatantly said his revenge is more important than her life and tried to kill her when fighting Danzo. Yet she still likes him and Sarada might be her daughter? Kishimoto admitted he wasn't good at writing females and I can see that clearly with Karin.
Ergh Karin was so annoying. Don't even get me started on the whole 'Who's Sarada's real mother' thing too. That was so pointless and uninteresting.
A side characters helps support the story or the characters. Raki isn't either. The only thing he's somewhat good at is cooking. Cooking? Really? He doesn't accomplish anything in the story and is overly reliant on Clare. He's just there like a mat on the floor you never think of.
Nina Einstein is a fictional character in the Sunrise anime series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. A racist stalking woman. Already a great start. She loves Princess Euphemia but Euphemia is so obviously infatuated with Suzaku. So there 'love' isn't meant to be. She then took a poor tables innocence from looking at images of Euphemia. Ew. Sadly, once Euphemia is killed, she goes berserk. She tries to kill everyone for the sake of revenge and did end up killing a bunch of people. What an idiot...
She deserved to DIE in this anime.

Sugou Nobuyuki is a fictional character who appears in the Sword Art Online series of light novels by Reki Kawahara. He is the main antagonist of the Fairy Dance arc. Oh...this guy...I hate him. We could have gotten a great villain and what really brought down the Fairy Dance Arc was him. He did everything he could to make us hate him. And he succeeded. He's just a creep with twisted obsession with Asuna. There's nothing more detestable than an anime character we don't want to exist. This guy is one of them. He never got us invested in the story, he molested the female lead and was just in general an unlikable sick man child.
He's the reason I stopped watching SAO. I didn't like the first part but I couldn't stand watching it anymore because of him. I'm glad he's on this list! He needs to higher in my opinion.
He had the worst episodes in Soul Eater. I love Troy Baker. He's a great voice actor but Excalibur was just unhelpful the entire time. Even in the manga he didn't do anything useful. He was just there to annoy the characters, annoy the audience and provide the excalibur face we've all come to known.
That thing is creepy yet cute. What the flap is it?
Chris Thorndyke is a fictional character and the main human protagonist of the Anime series based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series created by Sega, Sonic X. He's not the main character. The anime is called Sonic X and not Chris X. He's a side character and that's his role. I don't care how often we get episodes dedicated to him and whatever stupid problem he's going through. This show isn't about Chris bonding with his family or helping his Grandpa. It's about a three foot blue hedgehog with super speed. That's way more interesting than him. He doesn't bring anything useful to the table and was only there because we needed a kid character.
I wouldn't have cared much about Chris being in the cast if he wants an unrelatable, selfish, spoiled little ass.
I say unrelatable because I have a feeling he was there for the audience to be able to picture themselves in the setting. But this kid comes from rich parents and other stuff that the average kid does not have.
I really wish I was allowed to post links in comments because the time Eggman called him out in the Japanese version was golden.
He made it seem like HE was the main character and Sonic was the side character!
Serena has proven to be a kind and polite girl but she can also be openly rebellious towards her mother, Grace. In Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin!, she refused to wake up when Grace ordered her to, and gave a sassy response to her mother's call to watch the news. This tumultuous relationship was best demonstrated when Grace made her practice Rhyhorn riding, an activity Serena had hated doing. However, their relationship is also very loving as shown in later episodes. If it isn't true, thank the Lord! She's never done anything useful for the plot and was a nuisance the entire anime. This is Pokemon, not a harem series involving Ash. Serena was just yet again another girl for people to ship but wasn't even written well. I can't look at her avatar in the games the same way again. Her clingy personality, her yapping like a dog and doing nothing for the plot just came off as obnoxious.
Ugh I hate her...I hate her so much...

Juvia Lockser is a Fairy Tail Mage . When Juvia was young she was abandoned by her parents because she was followed by the rain . Eren Yeager, spelled Eren Jaeger in the Funimation dub, is a fictional character appearing as the protagonist from the manga series Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama. Pretty sure that Eren's not a side character.
Sekai Saionji (Saionji Sekai) is one of the two main heroines of School Days along with Kotonoha and appear as a secondary character in Summer/Shiny Days and Cross Days Two faced liar. Doesn't mind having sex with Makoto despite knowing her best friend is dating him...
She's a sadistic, two face, backstabber who doesn't really care for Ranma's feelings and wishes, since she'll put him under a spell to make him fall in love with her against his will. She would also attack Akane when she's no threat. Shampoo also mistreats Moose, abuse, and even sometimes rob him when he gives her something that will stop them turning into animals when splashed with cold water.
Tenten is one of the main supporting characters in the Naruto anime/manga series and the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime/manga series.
