Top 10 Nintendo Characters That Will Never Be Playable In the Super Smash Bros. Series

Rule #1: Video game characters only
Rule #2: Those that appeared on a Nintendo console
The Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U DLC is officially over. There are so many characters we wanted to win the ballot, but not all won. So, there's a chance this list I made will crush your hopes & dreams, or probably won't since the characters you wanted never made it, and they're already crushed.
The Top Ten
1 Tingle (Legend of Zelda)

There are so many better Zelda characters to choose from (Impa, Vaati, Tetra, Midna, Ghirahim, Lana, etc). Tingle is just scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

2 Princess Daisy (Super Mario) Princess Daisy is a fictional character in the Mario series of video games, in which she is the princess of the fictional region of Sarasaland.

Daisy debuted in Super Mario Land in 1989, after few other appearances she disappeared for nine years until she was brought back in Mario Tennis (2000).

Daisy is known for being a tomboy especially compared to Princess Peach and Rosalina and... read more

No, Melee didn't even use Assist Trophies, that concept came about in Brawl. She was, hoever, an ordinary trophy that did nothing.

I'm not sure if its true, But she appeared in Melee as an Assist Trophy.

Well she is in, so you can change the title of the list.

3 King K. Rool (Donkey Kong Country) King K. Rool is a fictional anthropomorphic crocodile and the main antagonist of Nintendo's Donkey Kong video game franchise, as well as the archenemy of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.

Did u know he's a DLC costume in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U? That's why he's not playable. He died & they used his body as DLC costume. Oh wait. Was that too...um...well...I got nothing.

4 Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo)

Boring character from a niche franchise.

At least he can be an assist trophy.

5 Toad (Super Mario) Toad, known in Japan as Kinopio, is a major character in the Mario Bros. franchise. He assists Princess Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom and will do whatever it takes to help her. He first appeared in the classic game, Super Mario Bros. after being kidnapped by Bowser and his minions. Since then he has ...read more.
6 Ridley (Metroid) Ridley is a villain from the Metroid series and a character from the Super Smash Bros. series. He's Samus Aran's archenemy and has been fighting her since day one with the first Metroid game in 1986. When Samus was three years old, Ridley murdered her parents in front of her. He is a member of the Space Pirates and works for Mother Brain.

Two words for a reason: Too big
Masahiro Sakurai has said that Ridley is too big to be a playable character in Smash Bros. It's true.

Too big and too awkwardly shaped to be in the game

7 Waluigi (Super Mario) Waluigi is a lanky self-centered, brusque young lad as he is considered evil and the main rival of Luigi. Waluigi is shown causing local havoc in most games he appears in alongside his partner Wario. Waluigi is not instinctively evil or the antagonist (not counting DDR), as a matter of fact, he shows ...read more.

No, be an assist trophy is not an excuse, Little Mac was too and he's playable. The real reason is that he's useless: Wario has done more than him, Daisy has done more than him, Birdo has done more than him and even Toadette. He was just created for be Wario partner in tennis games.

Every game we ask, and every game it doesn't happen.

Two Words: Assist Trophy

You really "asked" for him?

8 Excitebike Racer (Excitebike)

Melee: Originally planned to be a character, but they couldn't find a way to make the character properly jump
Brawl: Assist Trophy

Maybe the Excitebike Racer can be an alternate costume for ANOTHER Nintendo character, Mach Rider.

He makes more sense as an Assist Trophy anyway.

9 Kumatora (Mother 3)

We need more girls in this game. And we don't want girls that wear dresses. We want girls who have sass and still have fighting power. They got wifi fit trainer ok but I want more of that. Only one girl with that type of personality? Really?

10 Goomba (Super Mario) Goombas, known in Japan as Kuribo, are a species of sentient mushrooms from Nintendo's Mario franchise.

Already added to the list.

The Contenders
11 Goomba (Super Mario) Goombas, known in Japan as Kuribo, are a species of sentient mushrooms from Nintendo's Mario franchise.

It's hard to fight without arms.

He would be crushed up

12 Chrom (Fire Emblem Awakening)

Sakuri stated that he doesn't want just another sword wielding Fire Emblem character.

We don't need more fire emblem

13 Mona (WarioWare)

She's not even an assist nor does she have a mere collectible trophy.

14 Krystal (Star Fox)

You have to be completely ignorant if you think she'd be another Fox clone.
Sakurai even said that, if she was added to the roster, Krystal would've had an original move set (the only reason she didn't appear was due to time constraints).

What I think she would be if she was playable:
1. A female clone of Fox
2. A palette swap character

15 Mike Jones (StarTropics)

If not brought back as a fighter or assist trophy, I'd AT LEAST like to see him as a normal trophy or a sticker. This guy and his amazing games has gotten ZERO representation from Nintendo, despite the series being 100% theirs.

16 Masked Man (Mother 3)

He would most likely get an original move set. But really? Why are ness an Lucas the only characters from mother? Oh well. He was a great final boss. He got me sitting on the floor in my own tears.

We need more villains. I know that the masked man isn't really a villain, but I'm pretty sure he will count. Why do the more popular and famous games get the newcomers?

17 Geno (Super Mario RPG)

Rareware made Super Mario RPG as well as Nintendo. When Rareware got acclaimed by Microsoft, Nintendo lost all the rights to Geno, but kept the DKC and Star Fox ones because they were originally Nintendo games.

18 Ryota Hayami (Wave Race)
19 Cooking Mama (Cooking Mama)
20 Ash Ketchum (Pokèmon) Ash Ketchum, known as Satoshi in Japan, is a fictional main character in the Pokémon franchise owned by Nintendo. Ash is training to be a Pokemon Master, with his buddy Pikachu. Ash tries to stop the evil Team Rocket from stealing his Pikachu.

Well, not the Sun and Moon version of him, anyway.

21 Ashley (WarioWare)
22 Mew (Pokemon) Mew is a Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon created by Nintendo's and Game Freak's Pokémon media franchise. Designed by Satoshi Tajiri, it was introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue. Mew is capable of learning every move in the games (except signature moves of certain Pokémon), and can shapeshift into other Pokémon species.
23 Toadette (Super Mario) Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube video game Mario Kart: Double Dash.
24 Pauline (Super Mario) Pauline, also known as Daniella Verducci, is the original damsel-in-distress whom Mario must rescue from the eponymous ape in the original Donkey Kong.
25 Birdo (Super Mario) Birdo is a dinosaur that is well known for her (or his) confused Gender. It was originally stated that Birdo was a male who believed he was a female, but this was changed in later games. Birdo is commonly referred to as a girl, however, they are in a relationship with Yoshi. Birdo first appeared in ...read more.
