Adobe Animate (formally known as Flash)
was created by Adobe in 2015 after 20 years of having the software's formal name.

Flash (formally named, FutureSplash) was created back in 1996. It's an animation software that you use to create animations, games, & websites. Over the years, Flash has been owned by 3 different companies:

FutureWave (owned from 1993-1996)
Macromedia (owned from 1996-2005)
Adobe (2005-present)

In 2020, Adobe discontinued Flash Player. But note, Flash is considered in 2 different terms:

-Flash (the software)
-Flash (the player)

Flash Software is used for making content while Flash Player is used for playing content (playback).

In 2015, Flash (the software) was renamed to Adobe Animate.

For almost 10 years, creators have been using Adobe Animate to basically create the same stuff you would do with Flash.

Instead, Adobe Animate would support HTML5 & up-to-date.
